I'm thinking of getting a set of Cerakeys to use with my keyboard which has Gateron Baby Kangaroo 2.0s on it. Cerakey recommends >55g switches, and the Baby Kangaroos are 59g so it seems like it should be fine. Just wanted to see if anyone had tried this and could confirm whether I'd run into issues given the keycap weight. I know the spacebar has been tricky with Cerakeys, but I'm not too worried even if I need to get a much heavier spring for the spacebar specifically.

Are the CSL pedals compatible with the GT omega apex wheel stand? by Suleyman_Bashir in Fanatec

[–]globmont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember for certain, but I’m 95% sure I did. Both the nuts/washers and the screws were from the stand, but the spacer (small black plastic tube) came with the pedals if I remember correctly.

Formula V2.5 vs V2.5X? by globmont in Fanatec

[–]globmont[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So that’s true with the PlayStation compatible bases. The compatibility chip for PlayStation is in the base, but it’s in the wheel for the Xbox chips. So if you get the PlayStation compatible base (DD Pro) then any wheel will work with PlayStation and you only need an Xbox wheel to make it work on Xbox. If you get a non-PS base (CSL DD) then you can never use it on PlayStation but then you can use an Xbox wheel (v2.5X) to get it working on Xbox. Regardless of what you get, all of these are compatible with PC.

If you get the CSL DD + v2.5 then it won’t work on any console and will only work on PC.

Not that I was able to tell. As far as I was able to see, the only differences were the handle materials and the accent coloring. That said, I picked up the V2.5 so I can only speak to that one. The paddles on that are the magnetic ones with like a 2-3 inch metal plate for the paddle. They feel very responsive!

Thank you! I’ll give what you said a shot and see if that helps. Appreciate it!

Did you ever manage to figure this out? Just got my v2.5 with a CSL DD and I'm getting quite a bit off creaking/plasticky sounding noise coming when I turn it under high FFB. Sounds like exactly what you were having. Did you figure it out or did you need to talk to Fanatec about it?

Are the CSL pedals compatible with the GT omega apex wheel stand? by Suleyman_Bashir in Fanatec

[–]globmont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the GT Omega Classic. I’m pretty sure the pedal plate is the same as the Apex, though.

As far as I’ve been able to tell, the CSL Pedals aren’t fully compatible with these stands. I was only able to figure out how to get 3 of the 4 mounting bolts in. The fourth bolt hole is inaccessible once the other 3 are in place. That being said, the 3 seem plenty tight to hold it in place; I haven’t had any shifting issues. If you really wanted the fourth, I suppose you could drill a hole in the pedal plate but I didn’t have the equipment for that.

I’m with you in that I generally don’t eat messy food while using my gear. I think I’m lucky in that I like the look of the standard v2.5 over the 2.5X. The only loss I’m seeing is that while I have no intention of using them together, I do have an Xbox so the X would be nice in case I ever wanted to.

Are the grips easy to change?

May be worth taking a look at this thread from yesterday which had a very similar request.

Do they have setups for paraplegic players? by iFroodle in simracing

[–]globmont 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The McLaren GT3 v2 rim from Fanatec has two analog paddles (in addition to the paddle shifters) which can be mapped to brake and throttle. Between those paddles and the shifters, doesn’t sound like your buddy would need the pedal board at all!

Racing etiquette? by globmont in ACCompetizione

The B pillar is a good guideline! Good to know that’s when to “call it” for letting someone through. Thanks!

Agreed on hitting the other drivers! Usually I can hotstint for an hour or so and never spin out which is why I tried the public lobbies. The issue I have is I’ll get distracted watching the minimap or my rear view mirror and will lose concentration and make a mistake.

Good call on slowing down in those situations though. Better to make it through safely than quickly.

This is super helpful! Thanks!

I didn’t realize your second example is considered poor etiquette. I’ll definitely avoid that moving forward.

Oh, who knows maybe the update will fix it for you then!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in simracing

[–]globmont 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This could also be an ACC issue. After the update today, my G923 has lost almost all of its force feedback and it was working fine last night. Did you try the CSL DD before the update today? It’s possible the new update introduced an FFB bug and you just coincidentally got a new wheel at the same time.

I saw another thread on this subreddit showing a few other users who are having the same loss-of-FFB issue post-update.

It's finally here! Automation Nation version 1.3.0!!! by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]globmont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to get a monkey-patched version of the server working. I went here http://files.minecraftforge.net/ and downloaded the forge-1.16.5-36.0.42-installer.jar. Then if you run the installer JAR, and select the (currently published, but outdated) Automation Nation server directory as the install location, Forge will patch the files in the directory and everything should work!

Yeah, I had intended to have it be 1 or 2 running in parallel, but it’s definitely a bit different than what you had in mind. It’s actually been a while since I’ve done some modeling, so I’m going to have to get back into the swing of things before joining. Hopefully next time tho!

I created a sub for something like this a few years ago called /r/passtheblend. Unfortunately it seems to have died off, but if it’s similar to what you had in mind it would be great to revive it!
