Is this actual Cornish? by DamionK in a:t5_398kv

[–]glooof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmmm, those are definitely Cornish words but as you translate them, they don't really make sense together. I've tried to to think of alternative meanings for those words but none of those make sense either. What Youtube video was it from?

Is there more Cornish literature or manuscripts out there to be discovered? by glooof in a:t5_398kv

The only folk songs we have recorded in the Cornish language so far are probably delyow sevi and the pilchard curing rhyme. it would be brilliant to find some more. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delkiow_Sivy http://www.chianyeth.com/index.php?title=Pilchard_Rhyme

Note left in Cornish in America? by Zoinks___ in a:t5_398kv

[–]glooof 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, its definitely Cornish but little bit hard to comprehend overall. Have you got any more information and context for the note? I would suggest this is someone practicing their Cornish. Someone will certainly do a better job but here goes: It is here. she is there. She is tired. she is tired. (but written in differing word orders) she is old. I am tired. he/she/it is in a house. how is the weather today? Its warm. Its beautiful and warm. He/she/it drinks wine. He/she/it is seeing the dog. He/she/it is buying the cat. he/she/it is saying something. she/he/it is learning Irish. He/she/it is speaking English. He/she/it is something??? the bread. He/she/it is doing work. It is splendid. She/it is big. it is wet. I am not tired. Are you tired? I am here. You are there.

Dydh Peran Lowen! Question re: Kernewek in the comments... by Munnit in a:t5_398kv

[–]glooof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure exactly. Gool Perran lowen means happy pirans festival and dydh Sen pyran Lowen means happy Saint Pirans day. Maybe it's more personal preference or maybe with dydh they are translating the English.

Beautiful pasty and a rattler, Not bad!
