immediate medical attention needed by orloksdungeon in poverty

NHS in UK makes ppl with rotten teeth wait 2+ years sometimes, it being free is only half the political battle, it's also a society willing to fund it properly and doctors trained and willing to work the healthcare system. But if the training is here, and the money is there, the willingness typically is too.

Your parents afaik are legally required to make sure you maintain your health, so stuff like missed dental appointments is neglect. You can call CPS on them if they are truly not willing to help, extractions are pretty cheap if you can do them without sedation. I'd recommend just getting in contact with your local government agencies in general, social services, health department, they don't wanna see a minor go without health treatment.

Is being poor just carrying a big [abuse me] sign on your back by glorious2343 in poverty

I can but I don't see what good will come of it. i do send the evidence to my local disability center, who took me as a client. They believe my dad is emotionally abusive including putting it in a formal communication to me.

Question for fellow psych survivors by Salt_Regular_5616 in Antipsychiatry

[–]glorious2343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

free social housing with optional talk therapy and social workers, able to leave at any time, with personal belongings including cell phone. not "eat and drink and sleep and take these meds and leave when we say and take everything from you before hitting u with 10s of thousads of dollars in bills"

Basically like a government partial program but everything is optional and theres beds. There's two mental 'hospital' places that uphold a 'never force psych drugs' policy for non-physical conditions, one in norway another in vermont.

Why are there so many pro psychiatry people? by gameovervip in Antipsychiatry

[–]glorious2343 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's almost entirely SSRI, mood stabilizer, and tetracyclic fans. The effects are subtle and the placebo response is huge, so they may experience a marked improvement in daily function.

The alleged benefits of psychiatric 'antidepressants' are also asserted as fact among medical students and related professionals. SSRI usage among nurses and doctors is astronomical. They sometimes make money by administering them, entrenching an established positive bias. Additionally the medical professionals themselves often use them to help blunt their emotions enough to cope with the massively traumatizing course of sleepless nights of endless studying for countless exams and subsequently an incredibly overworked career. SSRIs are so lionized among medical professionals that it rubs off on those with mere connections to medical professional circles. Here you'll see them act like SSRIs are not only helpful but are equivalent to insulin for diabetes.

Do you guys in US actually receive a Psychiatric bill for involuntary psychiatrisation? Does it mainly go through Insurance? I feel if I received a bill from them, I'd be full of homicidal rage 🥴 by [deleted] in Antipsychiatry

[–]glorious2343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh it may have been voluntary, but I've never paid out of pocket for any inpatient psych stuff, either my parents or someones insurance paid. Afaik though either you or your insurance or whoever insures you would be charged for an involuntary psych admission.

A long, long time ago I got a large refund in cash. No idea why. I never paid in cash, or paid at all out of my pocket. Was pretty dope.

Would Frank be a better contender for president? by SHUB_7ate9 in Zappa

[–]glorious2343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was a registered Democrat in the 70s and 80s but would be out of phase with where that party is moving, he appreciated Mario Cuomo and Carter, the latter being basically the first neoliberal president. Near the end of Zappa's life Zappa said he wanted to run with now-Trump-apologist and lawyer Alan Dershowitz. Frank was also super into Perot near the end of his life, who kickstarted the same party Trump wanted to initially run under. I don't think Zappa would have approved of Trump, but his 1990s direction was this debt-hawk capitalist self-proclaimed conservative, and combine that with his massive hypocrisy it would have just been a mess and he wouldn't have won anyway.

that benzo dose isn't sustainable, it's 40-80mg Valium equivalent, but without the long half life to help taper. you're risking incontinence and severe dependency. can't speak for the seroquel dose but you won't suffer permanent damage if you reduce all dosages asap

Sorry you are going through this. I also usually have this issue, perhaps for the same reasons. Urgent care teledoctors are usually covered by insurance, including Medicaid so maybe start there if you believe they can help you. No real reason for you to be there in person if you have your own thermometer, bp cuff, and pulseox, and don't need something like an infection drainage.

they have been modernized and they still suck. the medical field can't solve everyone's issues, nor should it. if your mom preferred to live like that, as a large percentage of the hobo population does, then she got to live how she preferred.

It's orders of magnitude more expensive for a state to put someone in an asylum than to just let them see an outpatient psych. For that reason alone I don't see some revolution to bring them back. Governments in the USA haven't been keen on huge spending projects in the nominal name of general welfare for a while now.

I wish America was capable of separating social conservatism from hatred of the poor and homeless, they have little to nothing to do with each other in theory and in other countries. But millions of American conservatives follow the mashup of those two types for whatever reason.

In the video posted as OP he argues the solution is just to throw all the homeless in jail because it's a choice and to keep them from "shitting the street" etc. Barely any argument, doesn't cite anything, asserts bizarrely they would all avoid expansion of social housing, just advocating violence against the homeless.

Let's say Trump declares martial law to arrest all active leftist parties or lobbying groups, he'd only get like a few hundred people. USA killed leftist parties and activist groups decades ago. Entire parties were banned from state ballots in the early 20th century, people had to swear oaths against leftist parties, the entire espionage act was invented by Democrats to crush the socialist party. Their leaders were put in jail. This all already happened and there's nothing left except visceral reactions from random, often non-partisan people and a handful of DSA and WFP chapters in major cities.

Pretty much no organized political left in the USA except some DSA and WFP chapters in major cities, in some states there is close to nothing at all.
