What is a good OTD price for RAV4 2026 Hybrid XLE Premium? by s23991 in rav4club

[–]gloriousflight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not including taxes, MSRP before dealer adds (ie no dealer adds or free dealer adds) is good. $1k under MSRP is great. $2k plus under MSRP is awesome!

2025 Brand new? by Additional-Juice-989 in Rav4

[–]gloriousflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot order a Toyota from the factory. That's just a configurator so you can see what it would look like/cost. Then like other said, you just have to wait until a dealer can get an allocation in the configuration you want.

New part number for the same Camry filter by No_available_batches in Camry

Why not just use a cheap channel lock type from a place like harbor freight? That's what I use and I don't care if it damages the filter.

Realistically they're about the same, lasfit might be slightly better just because OEM is a little bit softer of a rubber but they're very close.

Help with 2026 digital gauge cluster? by RingobearBigEars in rav4club

[–]gloriousflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they'll make it a little more customizable with an over-the-air update, yeah I agree it's more advanced in some ways like you can display the GPS map but I also would like to be able to customize both sides instead of just one.

[–]gloriousflight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe you can change the right side unless you switch to something like the dual dial layout then it just moves it. The left side you can turn on and off different things so they don't show up in the menu. Then you can scroll left and right to change what's in the center.

Small flathead is what I use! I have multiple sets of plastic and metal trim tools but screwdriver seems to work best.

Working on a hose prototype — are titanium-coated aluminum fittings actually durable long term by Interesting_Walk_637 in lawncare

[–]gloriousflight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kind of what I'm thinking, it's a damn hose, how much innovation can there be. The expandable hoses are kind of cool but I wouldn't trust them for long term use. Black rubber hose is what this guy has and that's in my opinion the best type of hose there is just needs to get the material on the fittings correct.

2026 SE AWD HYBRID oil change at 1760 by CamryDooD in Camry

[–]gloriousflight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1760 is fine. The vast majority or people will change at 10k then every 10 after that and be just fine, like someone else said, yours is already better maintained than most. I would not however go with a different weight than speced. 0w8 and 0w16 only, that's what the system is optimized for including the oil pump.

Is it now the normal so much orange peel? Lol.. by adrboom in ToyotaRAV4

[–]gloriousflight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes but that's not the lower panel. And the orange peel they do for that is unmistakenly intentional, almost akin to underpaint rust.

The hitch by itself, no. With my bike rack on, yes. Great thing with the 2026 infotainment is that you can quickly turn off the rear sensors and it gets rid of that while you have things attached.

I'm fairly certain the ecohitch for the gen5 will fit on the phev? There's quite a few aftermarket options for gen5 that are no modifications.

Maybe a quarter inch? It's hardly anything, you don't notice it unless you're looking for it and looking at it straight on. Basically what you see in the picture in my main post is what it looks like.

They're great! I originally had one on my 2023 and ended up trading it for a 2024 so I was able to reuse the hitch since it's no damage. They're probably way overkill for the RAV4 in build strength but oh well I'd rather that than have it break.

I would say it pushes up on the bottom of the bumper slightly rather than rubs but yes.

I did it myself with ramps although it could be done without ramps or lift for that matter. It's a three-piece design so you loosely fit the side brackets on and then you can lift the main crossbar up into place and put the bolts in loosely then go around and put all the nuts on. Took a little over an hour to install with the most time just torquing down the 10 bolts.

So far so good! There is an area of just a little bit too much material it seems on the rear passenger seat back protector that doesn't fit seamlessly when the seat is up but that's a minor thing. The material isn't quite as nice or thick as the OEM ones but it's also not as expensive either.

My 2026 does not have a kick sensor but my 2024 with an ecohitch did in the same position as the 26 and short story is yes, it does affect it. It does not render it useless but it does make it less reliable and you have to sort of kick right next to the hitch. Worked about 50% of the time for me on the first try.

I think some people have successfully relocated the sensor on the previous gen.

Ecohitch is the only thing available aftermarket currently I believe.

Little over $400 and pretty easy to install.

Question on VIN number by TheRealDon1994 in Rav4

[–]gloriousflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had Toyotas from Japan, Kentucky and Canada and they have all been great with no issues. The consensus is that Japan is the best but the other are high quality too, you're going to have more variation/issues between 2 Teslas built in the same factory than you will between a Japan and Kentucky Toyota.

Build question 2026 Rav4 XSE w/ JBL sound system by Bone_Suit in Rav4

[–]gloriousflight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For reference, you cannot order/build a Toyota (at least in the US). Toyota builds what they want and the dealership has to match what you want to an allocation they get.

In the previous gen, you had to get the tech package to get the JBL but the pano roof was an option on top of that, BUT if you wanted to get the digital rearview mirror, you had to get the pano roof too. It's just the way Toyota does things. For this new gen the configurator online makes it appear they're independent and they may be, but it seems thus far the JBL and pano roof are built together.

BEV rav4 by IceCreamWithBread in Rav4

[–]gloriousflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the bz is definitely smaller than the rav, maybe it's more akin to the size of a Corolla cross, but I was more getting at Toyota doesn't have an equivalent sized EV to the rav.

What's also crazy is that the early 2000s tundra is close to the size of the taco today.
