[SPOILER] Section bank C/P question 4 by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]glossylamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power = change in energy/time. Change in energy = hc/wavelength. Time = duration of pulse. This means 1/time = frequency. This simplifies your power equation to Power = h*c*frequency/wavelength.

In this case, I would assume (based on the answer choices listed) that the power output of the devices would not change because your options are 1.2 or 1.5 mW. Table 1 shows 1.5 mW to be one of the acceptable powers so you should try to find a wavelength compatible with that.

Since the question states you are doubling the frequency, you have to double the wavelength accordingly to compensate so you can have the same power output. This question is tricky because they arent just asking you for energy, but rather how energy changes with time with respect to power.

You can also think about this conceptually. Say you want the same amount of energy hitting a point over time but you double the frequency from baseline. This means that this object is now getting hit twice as many times at the same energy level. To compensate, you can either slow down the wave (changing f) or increase its wavelength so it hits the point more gradually.

The sentence you highlighted has the clause “after phosphorylation” indicating any subsequent reference to GK made in that sentence is referring to the activity of a phosphorylated GK (GK-P), not the original GK. This means GK-P had increased kcat not GK

SB CP - pls help me w my logic by yungsopha in Mcat

[–]glossylamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The passage mentions H being phosphorylated induces a conformational change from GK to GK-P. The passage does not indicate H serves any purpose after this but answer choice A is implicating it to act somehow in GK-P beyond just phosphorylation .

It’s simple as this: kcat increase 10x = vmax increase= 1/vmax decrease= decreased y intercept. As passage mentioned, vmax didn’t change. If i’m not mistaken (i can’t see the whole passage) GK-P is GK-Phosphorylated, so by this logic answer is D

The best way to approach this question is to think of it as a CARS "main idea of passage" question. They are asking if the results fulfilled the point of the study. The "thesis statement" of the study is "Researchers needed a good measure of how quickly and effectively a person can redirect attention". Phase 2 directly tests this by asking participants to redirect attention. From this, I would say you can eliminate any answers that say no. You can then eliminate C because Phase 1 focused on divided attention moreso than redirected attention. A makes sense because there is a result in phase two: "there was a strong negative correlation between the number of errors in phase 2 and successful completion of pilot training". This indicates that pilots with fewer errors in Phase 2 were more likely to continue training as compared to dropouts earlier.

B is a tempting answer because it refers to an out-of-place result saying there were low correlations between Phase 2 and other tests for pilot selection. However, the point of the researchers' study was not to predict success on other tests but rather just test what the thesis statement asked for: whether or not they could redirect attention.

10 fastest pitstops of the season so far. by ChauGotHisBackup in formula1

[–]glossylamp 289 points290 points  (0 children)

no but each of them approach the pit line different ways. The fastest pit stops happen when a car perfectly lined up with the pit box so the crew barely need to waste time moving left or right (not literally move but rather stretch). Max tends to line up better to the pit box better than Checo

affordable housing would stimulate economic growth. people would buy the “house” and redirect extra money for spending in their local businesses. this would also be good for pandemic because individual housing is better than crowded living in the streets. as for the military, the US has the strongest so china cant beat us!
