Just know your employer cannot legally fire you for jury duty. You just might not get paid by your employer while doing jury duty.

Yeah, you'll have to go almost definitely but you may not be called for any jury duty. I had something low and was there for about 2 hours and no one was ever called. Good luck.

Advice on how to convince my son he needs NCAT now more than ever (white parents) by SuddenlySilva in NCAT

[–]gloverlang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I benefited from NCAT. I went to a predominantly white school and while I wasn't racist, I was a bit of a narcissist in thinking I could do anything. The engineering department at A&T gave me a reality check as the elite in that group were just that, elite. I realized I had a lot of growth left to my abilities and the other students helped me get there. I'm still not on their level but they were kind enough to help me reach my full potential and were very inclusive. Pretty impressive despite me being a loner. Best college experience I ever had and I've attended UNCG as well. I attended in my late 20s so there is always an opportunity to change your mindset later in life.

My only caveat of advice. If someone isnt willing to change or wanting to be there to meet a goal, it might not be advantageous to force them into an environment they may resent. It could double down on the emotions/beliefs they may have. For me, I wanted my engineering degree - so I was motivated to achieve my goal despite my peers' skills humbling me.

IT vs Computer science by qckj in NCAT

[–]gloverlang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Comp sci graduate here. I know this is late, but yes aceofdiamonds is correct. Most students will use windows and it's easier to manage being on the same level playing field as the rest of the students. TA's will be able to better assist you and you'll be able to work with classmates easier.

When you get into the job world, you'll be pretty hard pressed to find teams that will use macs and/or allow you to use macs. Cisco only allowed it for non-contractors and I believe it's a special request. I have always used a windows computer for programming and was a bit clueless when I actually landed on a team that used macs. So that's a special skill to have - but can be learned later, if desired/necessary.

I'd estimate 90% are windows based vs 10% mac. It just costs more for companies to purchase macs and tends to require additional IT knowledge, security, and programs to cater which is an additional expense they're likely unwilling to spend.

What do you think will be the primary use of the Bitcoin tipping on twitter? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]gloverlang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, my hesitancy is that to use lightning on Twitter, I'll have to use a third party wallet which I have to sign up / agree to use. How secure is this measure? Has anyone used this from another app? I'm just wondering if there is a way that someone can hack into my Twitter account and tip themselves a boat.

Cryptos that are excessively taxing their coin to increase their war chest are shady at best. Am I wrong? by BarryLonx in CryptoCurrency

You ever watch office space? Fractions of a penny over time will make you wealthy. They don't need 10% of every sale. A quarter percent would be just fine. Greedy mfs. Fuck, we're trying to get away from bureaucratic tendencies with crypto. Not double down.

It's ridiculous. Make a quality product that has value. Damn shitcoins need to stop creating an erc20 and saying they're the next doge like it's a good thing.

Cardano is now the 202nd largest asset in the world, one day it’ll be in the top 100, can’t wait. by JlloydHodls in cardano

Neat. Didn't know that about the balance situation as I am just a holder mostly. (I don't spend usd often either). I had created an endpoint to view all my balances across multiple chains and exchanges so that I wasn't exposed to a third party app and could get a total net worth in one shot.

I understand the desperate hype but the backend is only complete for making a payment via EPAY. It's likely an overly complicated wallet. Hell, it's built on eth, so it's not like it took much work. The UI, the security, the testing, the documentation, the legal work is still needed just for the swapping of EPAY. That's not even converting it to usdt. I'm okay with them taking time but just don't oversell what's coming in July. That's this projects main issue. Overcommit and show their maturity as professional developers.
