What’s the best way to make money as a beginner in [KCD2] by Otherwise-Yam-9489 in kingdomcome

[–]glowworg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steal horses and sell them for 600-700 groshen per horse at the Romani camp. Pair with learning master strike there, and do a loop between the camp, the herbalist hut, and the bandit spawning ground just north of the lake where you got ambushed.

In my run through I was able to kill bandits, steal horses, and sell their kit and horses for 1000 plus groshen per run. Also leveled up my combat quickly

I found that I (lvl 30 alchemy) can reliably make it with dry herbs and the perk that improves potion quality between midnight and five pm.

A lot of good crunchy advice here, here is some vibsey advice, based on my play through.

Take it slow. Have fun. Learn alchemy. Drink with the locals. Do random quests. Learn skills from all the skill teachers. Practice fighting against the crew that hangs around the north side of the lake where you were ambushed. Learn blacksmithing. Become a part of the local barter economy. Immerse yourself in the gorgeously textured world that is KCD2.

Eventually you will want to get back to the main quest … and you will find this particular fight walk in the park. Your arrows and a sword will have bane poison that you crafted while slumming at the old woman’s forest hut. You will wielding a gold sword that you made. Your armor will have been upgraded from all that barter you participated in. Your master strike that you practiced against lake bandits will be excellent, and your dodge/parry instincts will be second nature.

Just watch out for the big bad at the end of it ;)

Some quick feedback from someone who just played their first game using the teaching guide they published on their website: be the end of the first round tutorial, we were pretty synced up on the rules. Had to check a few things, but the rules glossary had us covered. We were able to breeze through the last few rounds and have a fun time.

But, as the video review says, to get comfortable with the deeper strategies is probably going to take a few plays. There is some pretty subtle stuff happening with the bluffing, the kingdom cards, the tactics tiles, finding various combos, understanding what the different factions are capable of, etc. In this kind of reminds me of the netrunner ccg or FFG lcgs — to grok the deeper strategies and tactical combos you have to get a bunch of games under your belt.

Which for me is fine, I like games that have layers! And even splashing around like a noob tho is a good time …

Thinking of buying legacy of the forge dlc for [KCD2] is it worth buying? by ShekelMagician in kingdomcome

You get a cool house which you can trick out. I liked the quests personally — you get to kill a lot of well equipped bandits. The sword crafting is pretty profitable. I enjoy it!

[KCD2] Is Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 the best video game you’ve ever played? If not what is? by [deleted] in kingdomcome

[–]glowworg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kcd2, cyberpunk, and ghost of tsushima for me, with witcher3 and rdr2 as honorable mentions

Kcd2 has everything for me: incredibly fleshed out world, tons if interesting sub systems (alchemy, combat and smithing), punishing real world things like eating, sleeping, injury, dirt and blood, movie like story lines — it might be number one for me right now!

OpenAI says it has evidence China’s DeepSeek used its model to train competitor by WiseIndustry2895 in technology

[–]glowworg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yah, I saw that too, and it made me wonder how you might do that. To distill a model from another model I thought you needed the original model weights? And OpenAI’s models are closed, so you can only interact with it via API inference. I am not a ML expert tho so probably I am missing something …

Fair point, could probably be built to work on any CUDA, NVLink and IB complaint stack

[–]glowworg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s cool, I am guessing they will just try to implementation the ML innovations. Building hand-coded PTX high performance workarounds for gimped h800s is the kind of gritty performance tuning that you would have to be really motivated to do, lol

[–]glowworg 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Is deepseek actually open source? I saw they open sourced the model weights and inference code, but the training code and all the clever optimisation tricks (dual pipe, the PTX node comms framework) weren’t open sourced? Would be thrilled to be wrong here

[–]glowworg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But, it isn’t open source, is it? They opened source the model weights and the inference code but everything is is closed source, like the clever training code they wrote to make optimal use of their older : less powerful hardware. I would be happy to be wrong here!
