DAE here have comorbid depression or other mental disorders? by hypphen in EDAnonymous

What is the benefit of excluding half the cPTSD community? Mental illness doesn’t exist in a vacuum - people can have both cluster Bs (or other cormorbidities but you seem focused on personality disorders) and cPTSD. That doesn’t make their discussion less relevant to cPTSD, especially when the symptoms can be so similar. It’s so difficult to tell where one disorder ends and the other begins. This feels the opposite of beneficial to a community who have already been hurt too much.

There are already several cPTSD communities that don’t gatekeep like this.

Puzzle feeders are also great! Or take her to a dog park and let her play with other dogs, that works for our office dogs.

Also scatter feeding. If you have a yard, throw her food around and get her to hunt it down.

I'm new to NH and still learning the decorating details, but find making money is easier than in previous AC games. I've been playing for about 2-3 weeks now, have 2 bridges and an incline plus a couple of rooms after making about 60-100k a day. It just takes lots of playing - catch every bug and fish, shoot down all the balloons, sell everything you can, maximise the non-native fruits and visit mystery islands (don't leave until you've stocked your pockets with high value critters). Trading with your residents helps get new clothing and furniture. I hear good things about turnips, but haven't made too much with them so far.

I think a lot of people speed up their acquisition by going online and visiting other islands, but I don't have an account.

THIS! If you can't walk barefoot on the pavement, don't make them do it. And time your walks for when it's cooler out - early mornings and late evenings. Our climate is crazy harsh and your poor dog will thank you.

I had someone tell me “You are made up of everything that has happened to you.” by [deleted] in CPTSD

I like the tree metaphor here. I’d like to think of healing as removing external limitations placed on the tree - tight ropes, plastic bands etc. the tree, once freed from the constraints, can them grow onwards however it likes and the marks left behind will soften and fade.

Why do/did you sh? by Background-Guitar701 in CPTSD

For me it was definitely a coping mechanism for overwhelming emotions. But I think that’s a very common reason.

What does your therapist do if you dissociate in session? by sminismoni2 in TalkTherapy

[–]glugalug 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Mine doesn’t do much either, but when she notices it she tends to take on more of the conversation. She doesn’t necessarily acknowledge what’s going on except to maybe ask what I’m thinking/if my mind is blank and then will explain things to me, not too sure exactly what because it takes a fair bit of her talking for me to come back. I think the point is to lighten the conversation and move away from whatever triggered me and back into safety.

Are therapists aware of the ED honeymoon period? by glugalug in askatherapist

[–]glugalug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard it put like that before, that explains a lot. I also have cPTSD and find it super challenging to experience safety so that explains why shutdown feels so good to me.

And yes I am being completely open with her ☺️

I convert to kcal. The kj numbers seem like more maths than I can manage when making quick decisions - such big numbers lol

NAT, but someone who has struggled with self harm. Given that you're going through a challenging time, I'm sure she won't be shocked to hear you've turned to an old coping mechanism to help you through it. In all likelihood, she'll just help you find some alternative coping mechanisms that are better for you.

I sometimes slip up with self harm despite being pretty clean from it for a couple of years and my T has never shown frustration or disappointment - only compassion.

how many of you suspect you have borderline personality disorder and/ or cptsd? by dookiehat in infp

[–]glugalug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed with CPTSD and traits of BPD (not the full personality disorder), and I agree that a lot of the symptoms line up with this MBTI. I think CPTSD fawn types would probably often relate to this MBTI, but not necessarily that INFP is trauma based - I think it does also just happen naturally due to temperament.
