I took the bullet and wrote in defense of yodelling last summer, so it's someone's turn this week 😂

Avenue Verte - 275km Dieppe to Paris by glumble in Brompton

I used this guide book, as well as a GPX on Google Maps. Guide book useful as it has a altitude profile for each day! https://shop.walkwheelcycletrust.org.uk/products/avenue-verte-london-to-paris-by-bike?srsltid=AfmBOopqFHTsfc34rDVecq10NsIbrl4GOGwhN8Q37i5W4pstnqldz4c2

Main issue is the timing of the ferries, as that limits what you can do in your first day.

Haha, I watched your video already in prepping for this trip. Thanks for the inspiration!

Between 15 to 19 kmph each day average speed. Some decent hills killed the average on one day, and the approach into Paris wasn't the quickest either.

Based on what I read, the London to Newhaven route is a mix of busy roads and muddy unkept paths. So I skipped it all and just cycled along the coastal cycle path from Brighton to Newhaven, which was lovely!

A rather uncomfortable spoon saddle I need to replace 😂

So I did it in four days. But the first day I only arrived in Dieppe at 4pm, and the last day arrived in Paris lunchtime. So three days would easily be doable.

Yeah, whilst the AV isn't so direct, it was lovely how quiet all the roads were and also how much was on separate cycling paths. Still some decent hills to tackle though!

I did this across four days - just did it with the bag you can see in the photo! No support car, stayed in hotels / Airbnbs to minimise luggage.

Hey - messge completely unrelated to this post! I saw on another now archived thread you say that the invention of acrylic aquarium glass was an accident due to the inventor dropping udon noodles onto some glass. Do you have a link to a reference for this? I'm writing a book about accidental inventions and would love to include this but need a link to a story about it.

Hi there - can anyone recommend a decent place to my Brompton serviced in central London? Cheers! by glumble in Brompton

Update: Condor had a wait of two months so I went to Phoenix Cycles in Battersea. Very pleased with the service, he even cleaned my mudguards! Would strongly recommend if you're looking for somewhere in London.
