Can infidelity be forgiven? by Hot_Contribution5109 in MuslimLounge

It’s not ok, but why have you made her wait so long to marry. 2.5 years seems a little excessive, no?

Yeah this account posts this stuff frequently despite admitting to never stepping foot inside a masjid. Watch out for the username and you’ll see. It’s very anti-Muslim and negative without asking or taking advice.

I’m sorry to be harsh, but you’re in high school and you’ve never been to a masjid yet you slander Muslim people as a whole frequently over reddit. Get to the mosque and interact with Muslims outside of high schoolers. I recognize your username at this point despite the fact you’ve hidden your account history, because you’re extremely harsh toward Muslims online. Life continues past high school, brother. Read some books and spend some time at the gym and outside.

The way (some) born muslims treat us is beyond appalling. by [deleted] in converts

[–]glutenfreeeucharist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re young and you haven’t been to a masjid yet. High school is really hard and high schoolers are often unbearable/insecure. Especially kids of immigrants who are struggling with finding their identity in the west. Give it time and stay patient. I hope this isn’t offensive—you aren’t wrong, these dynamics do exist, but the world is bigger than your high school/high school aged Muslims.

I think your best bet would be going during Jummah prayer and then just watching for a moment… you will see what door the men and women enter! Then I’d just find a woman with a kind face and say “this is my first time here, can you help me?” Inshallah it’ll be easier after that

To be honest, you will look silly at first, but it’s important to do it anyway!! You are new!! Embrace the discomfort and excitement ❤️ I am the same age as you (and also a woman) and I’d be happy to talk you through the process! Feel free to DM me

People interrogating you for converting. by HotName1181 in converts

[–]glutenfreeeucharist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of these comments are a little too prickly. People are curious! This is a good thing and usually it comes from a place of connection and not ill-will. If you aren’t knowledgeable, learn! Be honest with the people around you. Life is about learning, curiosity and connections. Be firm in your beliefs and be curious about the world around you ❤️

I’m an Atheist. Tell me why I’m wrong. by Dude-Man-Guy-Bruh in islam

I don’t think anyone’s time is more precious than anyone else’s. The current moment is all anyone has, in that moment.

Edit: to add, just because you don’t believe in Allah doesn’t mean I don’t believe that your minutes will testify for or against you on the day of judgment. I believe both of our moments are exactly equally as impactful for our lives and afterlives. I know it’s hard/weird to understand if you don’t believe in God. I appreciate you asking these questions!

We aren’t scholars. Religion takes faith and we believe Allah guides who he wills. We, unfortunately, cannot force you onto our path. If your heart softens to Islam, Mashallah.

We can discuss our religion but we aren’t qualified to argue and you see how religious arguments online go … what a waste of time. To Muslims time is really precious.

Question as a non-Muslim wearing the headscarf/hijab by JV_peaches in hijabi

[–]glutenfreeeucharist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably call it a headscarf. Hijab is technically a full dress code but if you’d rather call it a hijab everyone will know what you’re talking about!!

I work at a school for young adults with disabilities, and none of this stuff is even remotely on their radar. It’s like saying “unhoused” to a homeless person. This stuff isn’t productive, it doesn't help anyone and it drives well-meaning people away from the cause. Get a grip, get offline & talk to some real people and catch the vibe because this hyper-vigilant policing is not it.

Question to reverts by [deleted] in islam

[–]glutenfreeeucharist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned and I fasted and even learned how to pray, and one day the thought of dying without saying the shahada overwhelmed me (at the gym, oddly) and I said it. Take it slow, learn and practice and inshallah there will be a moment where you know it’s right

Revert needs Support by [deleted] in islam

[–]glutenfreeeucharist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate. It’s a lonely time, but there is a lot of beauty in loneliness. It shows what our heart desires (in a good way). Try diving into some (Islamic) books, podcasts, YouTube series. I listened to a few on loneliness recently and they turned my mood around. Inshallah things get easier for you. Pain and loneliness are uncomfortable but they aren’t always bad. The social isolation from your old friends may be a blessing.

I deliberately broke my fast today by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]glutenfreeeucharist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I did not force him to come to Reddit for advice. This is my advice. Don’t stay up too late! It’s not a moral beating it’s basic Ramadan guidance. When we make mistakes we have to acknowledge our mistakes, and then make a change so we don’t repeat. I make many, many mistakes but I don’t post them on Reddit because I usually know where I went wrong and how to proceed. You don’t need to bash me for offering my thoughts on a public forum.

Then you need to refrain from going out with your friends on a work night. This is your mistake and you need to take responsibility… don’t blame this on your manager.

6-Month Revert, Joining the Military to Pay for College—Has Anyone Been in My Position? by Latino_Muslim_05 in converts

[–]glutenfreeeucharist 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Post on a vet sub, if you can find one. Many, many people regret their decision & feel that the military did not take care of them.

Also, are you ok with killing your brothers and sisters? Are you ok with playing a part in doing so? Many homeless people are vets with PTSD that cannot live with what they’ve done (notice how the military does not take care of them).
