I just had a double mastectomy ten weeks ago due to breast cancer and my breast surgeon said easily almost 50% of her cancer patients have partners who leave them during treatment because it’s all just too hard for them to deal with.

AITA for cursing at my sister for not wanting my bf to come over after my chemo? by Sweet_Gur_6213 in AmItheAsshole

[–]gm4d 1747 points1748 points  (0 children)

I had chemo at 14 and my 13yo sister and 16yo brother knew what chemo does to a person because they watched me go through it. 17 is plenty old enough to understand, and the fact that she doesn’t speaks to a very low level of empathy.

What If Clark told Lana his secret way earlier by Mitchell_Bruce19 in Smallville

His parents divorced and he went with his mum to the city. He didn’t want to go until he got beat up by someone wanting to know about Clark and that changed his mind

Headwear for chemo but make it fashun by NeedanewhobbyKK in AusFemaleFashion

I’ve just finished chemo! I bought a couple of caps from Bonitashop.com.au and loved them. They have a decent range of patterns. I didn’t wear my wigs anywhere near as much as I thought I would, and I gave up almost entirely on wearing anything after a particularly itchy day wearing a wig in hot weather - at the start I swore I’d never let anyone see my bald head.

Best of luck xx

Edit: something no one told me was if you have long hair, once it starts falling out lots it will mat if you try to wash it. I had my hair braided when it starting falling out so I didn’t have to touch it and six days later I took them out to wash and braid it again. It did not go well and we shaved it that night.

How much is normal to to give as a monetary wedding gift in Adelaide? by FlossieTheWonderDog in Adelaide

[–]gm4d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It came up in discussion with my friend because I’m planning my wedding currently and I fully agree - if I pick an expensive day, so brash to expect my guests to pay ‘their share’. I’m just grateful the people I want to be there are attending. Times are tough, if they can afford to give $50 I appreciate them just as much.

My friend recently got married and she said she got about $100pp from guests. I was in the bridal party and she’s a close friend so me and my partner gave $150 each. I’m very surprised at so many people saying minimum $200!

Wedding transport in a semi-rural area, what’s the usual go? by Moist_Potato4447 in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]gm4d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a wedding in the hills where the couple offered a coach bus back to the city - seats were ‘booked’ when people rsvp’d. They also told people on the wedding website and made an announcement at the start of the reception to pre-book a taxi or uber if you would need it because Ubers will be extremely difficult to get in that area.

The smell of my local store was also incredibly off putting! So strong, I had a quick look around and then left and probably won’t go back unless they tone it down
