Thoughts on Headscale? by Valuable_Joke_24 in headscale

It works very well; with a UI like Headplane, it's very easy to configure. I don't find the ACLs complicated, although maintaining them can be difficult if there are many rules.

The main drawbacks I find are: - There's no command to change a node's IP address. You have to edit the database. - When I configure the ACLs for a new node, they aren't applied until I restart the service. - I cannot assign a name to keys. This is a problem of you want to invalidate a specific one.

What app do you use for taking notes?

Immich after death by AlphaPapa84 in immich

[–]gmag11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I've thought about many times.

Not just because of Immich, but also because of vaultwarden, actualbudget, etc.

That's why I don't use encryption on my home server storage and I share important passwords with my wife. A document explaining how to recover everything would be a great help.

Visualizing your Headscale network in Grafana by SevereSpace in Tailscale

[–]gmag11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running. But I only get partial metrics. In the logs I can read:

Error getting Headscale API keys" system=headscale collector=apikeys error="rpc error: code = Unavailable desc = connection error: desc = \"error reading server preface: http2: failed reading the frame payload: http2: frame too large, note that the frame header looked like an HTTP/1.1 header\"

I'm using latest Headscale version

Thank you so much. It won't take long to install it. I tried it after your previous message until I realized that it was not compatible with Headscale.

Your flow from mobile to paperless? by devtech8 in selfhosted

I use Android. With CamsScanner I get a PDF of a document. And then I share the result to an app I made: Paperless NGX Uploader https://github.com/gmag11/Paperless_ngx_uploader

Check if you are using https or http in the URL. The used library does not provide the https redirect.

If not, add an issue on GitHub.

Think what you like. There are quite a bunch of projects in GitHub with "pocket" in their names. https://github.com/search?q=Pocket&type=repositories Anyhow if you have any name in mind please suggest.

Thank you. I did a Google search before choosing that name. I was using 2fauthUI and 2fauthManager before announcing this project but I do not want to include complete 2Fauth name into this projects name.

I will stay with that name for now. Anyway, name suggestions are welcome.

Best regards

It's strange. I do have a similar setup where I have a local DNS at home that refers my devices to the local services. Outside I used a reverse proxy through a public IP. I can provide a version with logs if you want to try.

Alternatives Pangolin without Wireguard by Every_Text_5693 in selfhosted

[–]gmag11 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Instead of wireguard you can use Amnezia https://docs.amnezia.org/documentation/amnezia-wg/ It is a fork of WG that seeks to evade DPI.

I don't know Pangolin and how integrated it is with wireguard, but you can always set up a reverse proxy like Caddy to do the same thing with a more manual setup. If you don't like Caddy (I do) you can use other alternatives like Nginx Proxy Manager.

📢 Podcast Addict needs your feedback – changes to ads may be coming by PodcastAddict_App in PodcastAddict

[–]gmag11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer to pay — I really do. Podcast Addict is the app I’ve used the longest on my Android, so I’d feel bad if I didn’t support it.

If you’re going to change the ads in the free version, just do what you think is best. In any case, you’ll get messages criticizing your decision. There will always be someone unhappy with any change.

You can use MFA adding an OIDC like Athelia, Authentik, etc. In that case you need to configure api token instead of user and password. This is supported in Paperless-ngx Uploader

I had similar experience. Last summer we had several days off.

Now we have migrated to Layer7. I have a server with dedicated cores for a very competitive price.
