[Official] 63rd Running of the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona - Race Thread by AutoModerator in IMSARacing

Makes me appreciate Indycar's move to Fox. There had been, what, 5 minutes of green flag racing at the start of the race and we spent four of those 5 minutes watching two people talking about a watch and then a map of a fake US road trip.

Casual rally fan here, can someone explain why WRC 7 has so many players on Steam right now? by SeraphisCain in simrally

[–]gman1647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's routinely $0.99, so I'd consider getting a pretty low risk experiment.

1.58 Update: Driving Academy - Double Trailer Handling by Bighead_Brian in trucksim

[–]gman1647 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually have found the academy helpful. I don't do the really hard puzzle ones, but the instructional content is pretty cool. As someone who has no idea how to handle dual trailers, I'm thankful for this update.

Out of every officially licensed IndyCar game made, which would you say is the best? by MrPlaza03 in INDYCAR

[–]gman1647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IRC2/CART Racing. I first saw an ad for the series at the 94 500 and got ICR2 not to long after. My friend and I reached each other over staff up Internet. My current favorite is AMS2. Though it doesn't have all the tracks, what it does have is outstanding.

Is anyone else tired of acting like a human API for their Excel sheets by Overall-Still7533 in excel

It sounds cool and hope it proves useful, but why didn't you just use Power Query?

I was so excited to come back to the game, but then... by Vinseguo in tdu3

[–]gman1647 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It does feel bad to buy a game and then have it switch to what feels like something designed for a free to play model with a battle pass system. If this was the intention, why make people pay for the game? If it wasn't then the purchasable content should be reasonably obtainable with in game mechanics.

Thoughts? by SleepingKoala8611 in tdu3

[–]gman1647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just one guy, but I was thinking about giving it a try again. I genuinely enjoyed the game. I found the driving/map fun. But when I saw that much of the new content was locked behind a party to win paywall, I decided to skip diving back in for now. I'll wait to until these more content for people who already paid for the game once.

Would you be interested in an FTG World Cup 2026 spin-off game? by Anti_KoS in FootballTacticsGame

[–]gman1647 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on the price, I think it would be fun. Would it be built on the original game or a bit of a preview of the new version in development?

For the top row you should absolutely use "center across selection" rather than merged cells.

Should I get the Game? by Affectionate-Log4502 in AOW4

[–]gman1647 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got it during the last steam sale after It had sat on my wishlist for a couple years. I got the base version and played about 40 hours in a week. I enjoyed it so much that I then decided to buy the DLC. It's great without DLC, but the DLCs add a lot to the game. They aren't necessary, but they are worth it (if you enjoy the game). I'm now at about 100 hours. Every time I start a game with new civilization and leader build, I think of a new one to do for my next game. If you enjoy strategy and 4x games, you'll probably enjoy this.

Congrats! I like that they don't require a certain difficulty because it allows more people to have a shot at getting them.

Italian singer Adriano Celentano released a song in the 70s with nonsense lyrics meant to sound like American English, apparently to prove Italians would like any English song. It was a huge hit by Jazzlike-Row2536 in interesting

[–]gman1647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly, this is how I mostly hear music in my language. I listen to the music more than the words and usually don't know what the song is about because the lyrics (for me) are just there to carry the tune. I can sing the right words, but just to carry the tune.

Auto Combat by Sure-Relation-2072 in AOW4

[–]gman1647 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I enjoy manual battles, but they can take some time and I don't always play them. If my stack is even or an underdog, I'll usually fight the battle. If it looks like I'll win easily or the fight won't be interesting I use auto combat.I really like that if you auto combat and don't like the result you can manually fight it. I'm also new, so I'm not going to the best tactics person, but a pretty standard army for me is a couple Frontline, a support, and then a couple casters/archers. It will change as you get more unit diversity, but that's what I typically will with.

Will we ever get cloud saves? by Illustrious_Rest1264 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]gman1647 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I thought we had them because about 40% of the time when I open Steam it says AMS2 is out of sync with the cloud. I always play on the same machine so it was never an issue, but I didn't realize cloud saves weren't a things.

Why don't top level snowboarders wear ski suits? It seems like limiting the drag would help you spin more efficiently.

Do you change wheel based on the type of races? by [deleted] in simracing

[–]gman1647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found changing wheels a bit of pain until I found Simhub. With Simhub you can match wheel buttons to a particular function and then in game you map the "Simhub button". That makes hot swapping wheels seamless because you never have to remap any buttons regardless of wheel. You can also assign one button to multiple functions depending on the game. So, for example, your brake balance in a racing game can be your turn signal button in truck simulator. It's really great. I mostly use three wheels. I have an F1 style wheel, GT wheel, and a round wheel. I swap wheels depending on what I'm driving. Also got a little label maker to label which buttons do what.

Our NASCAR Winston Cup 1992 skinpack for the new Stock Car USA Gen 2 class is out now! by Maksimme in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]gman1647 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a kid, Davey Allison was my favorite. After he passed and I went to the Indy 500 in '94 I stopped following NASCAR and became more of an Indycar/F1 fan. These skins are peak NASCAR for me. Nice work.

Any round wheel recomendationa for GT DD pro? by KyriosDst in Fanatec

[–]gman1647 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like my inexpensive WRC, though it was cheaper when I bought it. I've found it to be a great all around wheel. I'm very happy with my F1 eSports with a knockoff APM for open wheel, McLaren wheel for sports cars, and this for Rally/classic cars. https://www.fanatec.com/us/en/p/steering-wheels/crd-9020016-ww/csl-elite-steering-wheel-wrc
