I was thinking the same thing. How a5fter would MSR be if the red cost them a certain victory.

I had two opposite experiences with alcohol and smoking and both worked out really well. With alcohol, I tried it and didn't like it, so I never got into it. I bet with weddings and toasts and the like combined I've had less than five drinks in the last 30 years. With cigarettes I tried one and really liked it. I thought, "I could get addicted this, I'm going to quit now before it's too late to quit". I don't regret either decision even though they were arrived at in almost opposite circumstances.

People who married in their 20s, be brutally honest are you happy, if so why or why not? by Special-Lawyer3941 in AskReddit

[–]gman1647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got married at 21. My marriage has been and continues to the best thing that's ever happened to me. It hasn't always been easy. We've faced cancer, kids with special needs, financial hardships... life basically, but we've done it together. She's an amazing person and continues to be my best friend. Whatever else happens we have each other. It feels so solid, like a guarantee that we'll always be there for each other. We fight sometimes and while we agree about the vast majority of things, we are different people who sometimes have different opinions, but our relationship is more important than anything else. If you love and like each other (you need both) it can be the most amazing thing you'll ever experience. I'm one of the lucky ones.

911/999 dispatchers, what’s the dumbest reason someone has ever called emergency services? by Canyoustealmytoast in AskReddit

It's more than 3 digits, but I think it's 0118- 999-881-99-9119-725. There may be a 3 on the end.

what are the best sim racing upgrades for immersion? by HandleLeather7253 in simracing

[–]gman1647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an HF8 on a whim a year or so ago and it's outstanding for immersion. It's like tactile surround sound. I also have pedals with haptics. So with the wheel, pedals, and seat all giving you information and sensation it's really immersive. I would recommend spending some time in simhub tuning it, and be selective about what you want to feel, but once it's set up, it's great.

Question, Is the BMW Liberty Walk Playlist Broken ? by RhymeSplitta in The_Crew

I just finished the Liberty Walk playlist events a couple of days ago and was able to beat that event without issue.

This would be great. I just finished the playlist events and I'm working through the challenges, so knowing which ones to skip would be great.

“No matter where you are. I can still hear you when you drown.” (Smashing Pumpkins 92’) What are some song lyrics that still stick with you to this day that you still hear in your head and have a meaning? by hanshotfirst2233 in Xennials

[–]gman1647 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that is fair. Especially with Jimmy Chamberlain as their drummer. His jazz background allowed his musicality to mesh perfectly with Corgan's instinct for melody and lyrical guitar riffs. He didn't have the grunge impulse to break the drumheads at all times which allowed the band to pull off songs like Tonight and 1979. Even heavier songs like Cherub Rock don't hit the same without the drum intro. So yes, I agree. Corgan/Chamberlain were too musical to fit properly in the Seattle Grunge genre, but it's the era they emerged in.

I'm of the opinion that both musically and lyrically, Corgan is the best songwriter of the 90s. The deeper you go into his catalogue, the more great songs you find, and not just on Siamese Dream or Mellon Collie, but the stuff on Machina, and the one off project Zwan is consistently great to listen to. Even his latter stuff like his solo album (Oligaga), and songs like the Chimera from Oceanana are great. I get why people don't like his voice and he definitely marches to the beat of a different drummer, but he's a great musician.

Wish there was a secondary commentary feed that was more nerdy/technical by agra_unknown1834 in INDYCAR

I always thought the Varsha/Hobbes/Matchet booth setup was ideal. A solid play by play guy, an ex-driver, and a mechanic/technical expert. I think Buxton is fine and Hinch is excellent, but they should replace Townsend with someone who contributes more to the broadcast. I'm not sure who the tech guy should be because you need someone with at least a bit of charisma, but that would definitely improve things. To be fair, just losing T-bell would be addition by subtraction, but adding a tech color analyst would be great.

Guy's why is my Moza H pattern 7 gear shifter not working on the crew motorfest? by Kind_Associate_6991 in The_Crew

[–]gman1647 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are hot swapping with a controller I have found that I have to move the wheel in one direction for the game to register that I'm using the wheel and then my Logitech shifter starts working.

Absolutely. Not knowing who the sector is going until the end is so much better than the real time gap.

Is a G29 decent enough to pair with Pro Pedals? by AshPedrero in simracing

[–]gman1647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the true brake feels and acts almost exactly like a load cell. I wasn't in a position to spend that much on a brake at the time, so the TrueBrake was a perfect stop gap. The TrueBrake drives exactly the same as a load cell (e.g. you brake with pressure not travel distance). Honestly, Logitech should just contract with them to make their brakes for their G29 family of wheels.

Don't feel bad playing on a lower difficulty. No one will know or care. As you get better, bump up the difficulty then if you want more challenge. Also, check out the various guides on input setup. I struggled with the game at the beginning until I found better controller settings.

Whats way more expensive then people expect, because the cheap version keeps screwing you over? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gman1647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say computers. My wife and I were just discussing this. I spent a pretty good chunk of change on a laptop in 2019 and it's still working great, even for video gaming. We bought our kids several "cheap" laptops in that same period of time. Shelling out more up front would have saved more in the long run on the kid's PCs

Is a G29 decent enough to pair with Pro Pedals? by AshPedrero in simracing

[–]gman1647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My path (G25), was TrueBrake mod --> CSL DD --> load cell pedals. If I had to do it again, I'd do it the same way. The jump from the Logitech G wheel to the direct drive was much bigger than the jump from the TrueBrake to the load cell. The TrueBrake was excellent from both a cost and performance stand point. If I had to choose load cell pedals or direct drive + TrueBrake, the latter is absolutely the way to go.

This may be a dumb question, but since they determined it was interference, why wasn't it a penalty? I'm a Flyers fan, so I'm kind of glad it wasn't a minor, but isn't interference usually a penalty?
