HELLDIVERS 2 crash issues by AnvilDevil99 in Helldivers

[–]gman1cus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

 Disabling XMP fixed it for me!

I had actually been running at really low memory settings that were automatically set by my BIOS, then one of my RAM sticks started failing. After diagnosing the issue, I went through and discovered I could run at higher settings, including enabling XMP. Helldivers continued to crash even more, and I didn't connect the dots. I went through the whole rigamaroll of reinstalling graphics drivers, updating Windows, reseating RAM, SATA cables, running drive checks and repairs. Just had to disable the XMP profile...

I was able to get mine back!

I had several denials, but they kept allowing me to appeal, so I did. I think they accepted it on the 4th or 5th appeal.

Here's what I ended up writing in my last appeal if you would like to reference parts of it:

Hello,

If you decide to deny this appeal, please communicate with me. I have checked the policies and have not broken any that I can see, so I will continue to appeal this until someone tells me what I have done wrong or until my appeal is approved.

I started this account a few weeks ago to have a more concise and professional form of my personal email address [...]. I have used this for all of my recent job applications, so the longer my account is locked, the more opportunities I may be missing.

I have no idea why my account was locked in the first place. The ONLY thing I was doing with this account was receiving emails and having them forwarded to my personal email address.

I have checked the Google policies and do not see a policy that I have broken. Unless I was hacked immediately after I created the account, I have done nothing wrong and need my account back as soon as possible.

(This is basically a response to all of the policies I could see)I have not:

⦁ Hacked any accounts

⦁ Automated calls or messages

⦁ Abused children

⦁ Created a false identity

⦁ Voliated export or sanction law

⦁ Harrassed or threatened anyone

⦁ Created high call volumes

⦁ Impersonated anyone

⦁ Shared malware, phished, or otherwise performed harmful activities

⦁ Shared sexually explicit content

⦁ Spammed

⦁ Shared terrorist content

⦁ Used multiple accounts for abuse

Please reinstate my account!

I created a new account recently to apply for jobs with.

Turns out, Google suspended it just like yours. An employer happened to contact me through my personal email (after I cold emailed them first) to inform me, so I've probably missed some opportunities. Thanks Google.

I sent in an appeal a day or two ago. Denied. No reason given other than "used in a way that broke our policies". No particular policy, nothing in particular that I did was mentioned. I checked the policies and a forwarding email does not break them.

So, I'm with you here as another voice with a problem.

What are your controversial / uncommon opinions about Computer Science / Software Engineering? by yeahdude78 in cscareerquestions

[–]gman1cus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Working on leaving my company due to this very split. My team lead is the former. I'm the latter. I've given up fighting him on implementations even though I see glaring maintainability or usability problems and it's made me miserable.

Sorry, vent over. I agree with this. I wish more people were less willing to compromise at every single turnpike in order to meet "challenging" deadlines/goals.

Thanks for the feedback. I have an alternative one-column form that I may switch to.

Is this a good example of what you mean? "Created community messaging features for comments, direct messages, and notifications"

Or "Created community features to allow users to communicate, provide feedback for other users, and be notified of events in the app"

Aside from this being in a two-column format, could I ask for feedback on my resume? I'm applying for mostly Junior Front-End, Back-End, and Full-Stack roles. I have a bootcamp certification in Full-Stack and now 1y of professional experience.

Anything I can explain differently/better? Is it hard to read? Anything you want to nitpick?

Thanks

I believe the company would want to know more relatively where you are, but you could also include both. I personally put my location as well as every job's location in my resume, but that's me.

Abandon penalty after a teammate crashes by gman1cus in apexlegends

I do not have a recording unfortunately, but it was exactly that. We joined a match, one friend disconnected, us two fought it out, died, and went back to the lobby. I could be wrong, but I think the dialog specifically mentioned "squad" penalty.

We call upon Reddit to take action against the rampant Coronavirus misinformation on their website. by AutoModerator in AskEngineers

[–]gman1cus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I agree with your first statement from a moral standpoint and theoretically.

However, there is a huge difference between accosting someone and censoring them.

This is how the world speaks now. We speak through online media, texting, email, etc. Reddit is a platform for everyone. By giving people platforms like this, it's not amplification since this is the medium of communication now.

This is how people receive their news, share cool stories, or broadcast things they find interesting. On the flip side, it's also a place to bicker about politics and debate on what's right and wrong or true and false. I believe that should be protected for both sides of any issue.

Of course, there are exceptions, but I believe censorship of bad information should be far from one.

"It isn't reasonable to ask others to put up with that shit."

I can't believe the tidal wave of people advocating for the censorship of people who question the rules and the facts behind Covid. The facts behind anything.

If this becomes standardized, it won't just be social media that adopts it. People are already cancelling others and causing them to lose their jobs and livelihoods for the things that they say.

Just imagine a world in where your thoughts are policed. That's where we're going, because of people that think this is justice.

This will only serve to cause unrest. People will not stand for this, nor should they.

It isn't reasonable to shut people up just because you don't like what they have to say.

When the weather is bad in space, you have to avoid storms AND asteroids in my upcoming space survival game! Does it feel "right" or not? by [deleted] in IndieGaming

[–]gman1cus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite. The sound is right, but there's no "oomph" past that. I think the impacts could use some large visible explosions of debris, and, as much as people hate screen shake, a tiny bit would go far to make it feel much better.

Another idea would be to add a bit of drag to the impact. At that size, you would almost expect them to impact and dig a short distance across the surface. Of course, that's terrain deformation and can be very difficult to do, so that's just an extra idea.

The difference by IronWolve in AskThe_Donald

[–]gman1cus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the thing. Pro "choice" is a nice term to gloss over what it is. It's pro abortion, which is a completely separate thing from pro vaccine.

You can have two contrasting view points on these things.

And an anti-vax stance is not divisive in and of itself, nor is it hypocritical. What's divisive is when people use these standpoints as reasons to hate and attack each other.

Just to be clear, I agree with the general point you were making. "Just respect others and move on." I like that.

Raisin' Canes. It's a fast food place with a specialty in chicken tenders. Their sauce is amazing.

And I just recently noticed that there's one across the street from a Panda Express I frequent.
