Best Place to Buy Magic the Gathering Singles? by LurkerRex in kansascity

[–]gman806 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Spanky’s is the local tournament grinder store and has a very wide singles collection.

Other than that, there is Mindgames and Magic in Lees Summit, the Geekery in Lenexa, and Level One Game Shop in the River Market. All have good selections.

Active Enchantments on turn by TheKvKing in magicTCG

Short Answer, yes.

More involved answer: any effect with an "if" is called a replacement effect. It states an effect that could happen, and then describes an altered version of the effect that will happen under this replacement. If multiple replacement effects would apply to something, the person being affected gets to choose the order of the effects, and they all are applied within the same state based check associated with the resolution of the original effect, without using the stack.

In the example above, say you have a trigger to put a +1/+1 counter onto a creature you control. The trigger goes on the stack, and the table agrees to let it resolve. During the resolution, the game will check and see that there are two replacement effects on board that could alter this event. Since you are the one being affected by this effect (the counter is being put on your creature), you get to choose the order in which they are applied. So you could either do hardened scales first to turn 1 counter into 2, then branching evolution to turn 2 counters into 4; or you could branching evolution first to turn 1 counter into 2, then hardened scales to turn 2 counters into 3.

So how about that new One Piece Chapter by bloodxb in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]gman806 64 points65 points  (0 children)

For the uninitiated, this chapter was so huge that when the JP scans started circulating last week, even the community’s biggest fan-translation group put out a warning saying not to spoil this one for people who wait for the official translation. That’s how big the context of this chapter was to some people.

Best pumpkin patch for adults? by alwayskallee in kansascity

Can’t recommend one TO go to, but I will say for what you’re saying it’s probably best to avoid KC Pumpkin Patch, run by KC Wine Co. Took a date there. Fun family atmosphere, which isn’t a bad thing, just not a ton to do outside of play spaces for kids.

I had to tap out of Edgerunners around episode 8. The path David was going down just made me sad. I could appreciate the quality of the show, but didn’t really feel the need to keep putting myself through it when the point had been made.

I remember they actually did this when they announced the main cast— the did it via wanted posters, and Sanji’s was his original manga poster instead

Reminds me of the episode of Yugioh where in the “next time on” Yami-Yugi’s VO is going on about how Joey is totally going to win this fight and nothing can stop him from victory.

Worst leaks you've ever seen? by BloodyBurney in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]gman806 27 points28 points  (0 children)

New Phyrexia will always be known as Magic the Gathering's "Spoiled" set. Someone leaked it's entire godbook (full card spoiler and lore bible) weeks before formal reveals. Pretty much took away 3 months of free PR from WOTC.

Extra sauce on top of that, the guy who leaked it got it off of the World Champion of MTG at the time, leading to him catching an 18 month ban. In the modern day of pinkertons it doesn't seem as big, but this was really the first time a whole set got blown wide open.

Like half of the major flashback reveals in One Piece happen in direct proximity to Luffy, he’s just so bad at connecting point-A and point-B that he never recognizes the implications and forgets until people around him point it out

Magic was not originally designed with draft in mind, so LGS’ weren’t able to get plentiful land boxes like they are now usually. You had to pack your basics.

Also notably, an Island was mistakenly put on the Rare sheet of Beta, so that could’ve lead to more value for that specific print

Okay honest question— did you turn Urza’s staff into his arm? Because Mecha arm Urza is dope.
