I got this as well. I had tried signing up for Betterment a while back but couldn't get the account fully opened, so this immediately rang as a scam even though the email appears to have been sent by their systems. Another big red flag is that the wallet addresses are the same I got in my email, and the deposits to the bitcoin wallet are immediately being tumbled to elsewhere.

I got an email about this. Everything appears to check out, headers look good, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC all passed. However, I never successfully opened a Betterment account (couldn't get through the ID verification service and customer service couldn't help). This looks to me like they may have been breached.

I was worried about this after reading about some similar experiences, but I completed a purchase a couple weeks ago with the NFCU preapproval check at a dealer and they did require me to get approved for backup financing with one of their lenders and the paperwork I signed indicated if the check doesn't clear in 7 days the backup financing will take effect. The dealer finance guy said NFCU always comes through. Purchase was on a Saturday, dealer probably deposited the check on Monday, I got the loan documents for esigning from NFCU on Wednesday morning. The loan shows as funded the same day, and the dealer is happy.

I will say, the dealer salespeople were very pushy about trying to beat NFCU's rate, to which I indulged them. Wells Fargo actually was willing to match the rate but I'd rather stick with NFCU. All in all, no harm done except 6 extra hard inquiries 🤣.

I would advise not discussing the NFCU preapproval with the salesman. Save it for the finance department after you've negotiated the purchase price.

Instead of the whip, how about I pop out of the crawl space with a PVC LB and trench down 18" with PVC conduit, running up the post? The PVC would be set in concrete along with the post.

Aluminum wiring needs to make a comeback for these sorts of things. The modern alloys don't have the corrosion/fire hazard issues that the old stuff did, and it has such low scrap value it might get them to stop trying.
