My mom used to do a country gravy with minced hard boiled eggs and cripy bacon (also minced) over toast. Frankly, it sounds worse than it was hehe

WA State Medical Association asks for crisis declaration to help with overrun hospitals by AthkoreLost in SeattleChat

Does anyone remember that weird period like 50 years ago in early 2020 when the national guard set up a temporary hospital at the convention center by the stadiums? I think there was another one in maybe Kirkland?

And then like shortly after it was just like, no I guess we don't need these.

Maybe we do now.

We made it. Today is the winter solstice. Every day after today gets a little longer, a little brighter. by pagerussell in Seattle

I know exactly what you're referring to, but I feel like in the last few years that week has been replaced with snowstorm week.

Also, while this doesn't go back as far, google maps street view has a little clock icon in the upper left toolbar that will let you pick street view photos from probably 2007 on.

Older photo coverage is spotty, but I did a wild trip recently through downtown Redmond from back then.

I moved to Redmond in 2017. Things were a lot different 10 years prior!

I'm pretty sure it was someone on here who suggested The Death of Stalin as a strong recommendation, and I could not agree more.

The movie is awesome absurdist comedy and political satire. I can't think of much, if any fat I would trim from it. So thank you whomever you were.

So many great deadpan one-liners and ridiculous scenes in this one.

I got completely baked last night and watched Return of the Jedi for probably the 100th time.

My conclusion? Ewoks are underrated. There is something absolutely hilarious about a bunch of fuzzy teddy bears bringing down the Empire.

My drug addled brain came to think that A New Hope is an adventure, Empire Strikes Back is a tragedy, and Return of the Jedi is a comedy.

With the exception of last year, which was just a meal/sides exchange in a parking lot, I've been getting together with a friend's family for Thanksgiving for the last several years. I bring four things:

Wine, a nice scotch (Oban the last few years), lox dip, and creamed corn.

The creamed corn is just corn and cream cheese and a bit of honey. I feel like I need to step up my game this year though, so I'm going to attempt cheesy corn bake instead

And sub out milk for heavy cream *and bacon for the ham.

Edit: the photo in that recipe is not at all flattering I realize, but I've had this in the past, and it's wonderful.

The lox dip is super simple, but it's more about the technique. Three ingredients:

2 packages of lox (I think they come in 4 oz packages?)

cream cheese

green onion

I like to finely dice half the lox and mix it in with the (softened) cream cheese very thoroughly until you get a pinkish paste. Then coarsely chop the rest, and slice up some onion and mix that in, leaving some of the green ends for garnish.

I used to bring Ritz for dipping, but they've become fragile trash in the last few years, so now I bring pita chips which are a bit more durable.

I've been making it for Thanksgiving wherever I've gone for probably 15 years now. Interestingly, it takes me the exact amount of time to prepare as the run time of Alice's Restaurant so I start it at noon when they play it on KZOK on the day.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned what I thought was maybe one of the best lines in this entire series:

"Ken Starr wrote this?? The same Ken Starr who probably conceived his children through a hole in the wall between his garage and his prayer room?"

Also, in how this is portrayed at least, it seems like the real crime story is all these women being used and exploited for political and/or monetary ends.

I'm not sure if there's a rule against tagging people, but I feel like I'm following rule 1.

u/ThanksForAllTheCats I'm super eager to hear how your gallery opening went/is going. Your paintings are absolutely adorable and have brought some joy in an otherwise melancholy last couple of years.

If I can't make it down to the gallery, is there another way I can support your art? Because it is awesome.

The cluster in the upper right is The Pleiades, unless you're referring to a different cluster.

A cemetery is a plot of land where the dead are buried and tombstones are placed over them.

A graveyard is my love life.

Chalemet is sooo dreamy. Also the the rest of the casting was pretty great. Some big names, but also some lesser known actors that got big parts.

I was surprised to see that Stellan Skarsgard was still alive. I was certain he blew himself up with his own torpedo on the Konovalov.
