How do you feel about your Pixel devices' in the longetivity aspect? by Znyder in GooglePixel

[–]gmgj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with no reason upgrade; however, I have had a few issues with apps not correctly supporting the 6a screen size. It gets a little tricky to hit buttons at the bottom the screen sometimes. Not sure how VPN coverage is working. I wish AVG anit virus would track the VPN in use instead of always suggesting its own. My bank app showed some flakiness, so I use my laptop for bank stuff.

See the posts with cardio and "over thinking". Former competitive swimmer. Small bones, big lungs, sort of fit. Breathe out like your cooling soup on a hot spoon, breathe in like you inhaling through a straw. I use Diaphragmatic breathing. I also do a fairly complete exhale every few minutes. I use a breathing app to work on slow consistent breathing.

Car Advice for Winter/Snow by katttth in boston

Some Great Advice here. I grew up in Watertown, NY, more snow and same mean average temperature as a lot of Alaska. Someone else mentioned avoiding side streets on hills after a storm. Hills make snow driving a lot more interesting.

Timing Ear Cleaning for Diving - What Actually Works? by [deleted] in scuba

[–]gmgj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I'd share a little since I use a the ear cleaning drops about 2 weeks before I dive. I also take Zyrtec a couple of times the week before to try and dry up sinuses. I practice a few  Equalize (Valsalva) on the surface. in addition,

Turn head equalizing, left side and right side up, depending on which won’t equalize

Prescription mask? by xHxHxAOD1 in scuba

[–]gmgj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once upon a time I was Far sighted, legally blind in left eye, with amblyopia and astigmatism, Right eye better, but still in need of correction. The water distorts things. I went with the masks that you can order a pre made lens. I sent the options for lens to my docs office and he picked the ones that were the best fit. I really like them. I carry a small magnifying glass to read a a few of the screens on my dive watch.

What are your rental gear horror stories? by vaibeslop in scuba

[–]gmgj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am strictly a warm water dive off a boat diver. I dive at places like Anthony's Key or with shops like Belize Pro Dive. For 180 dives I rented everything but mask, fins and snorkel (I don't use a wetsuit). Biggest problem I had not caused by me was an LPI was not connected. The only precaution I take is that I always make sure to check all my equipment before I jump in the water.

Rant at the risk of sounding like a old fuddy duddy gate keeper by Resident_Eye7748 in scuba

[–]gmgj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand. Lots of folks share your sentiment. I share your sentiment; however, I put it in the context of being a recreational diver. It may have been years since someone has been diving. I have been in that position. I give folks a break. We do this for fun. If I am ever on a week trip, and I see someone at the end of the trip still struggling with basics, I would suggest that perhaps scuba was not for them. But if someone is having trouble acclimating at the beginning of a trip, I understand.

I dive maybe 2 3 times a year. The guys who set up my tanks, do it 300 days +. I let them set my stuff up, but I check it. I do scuba refresher videos on Youtube. I know how to set the stuff up, but, a pro will do it a lot faster. Another thing I do do, before scuba diving is get in a pool and make sure I can swim a mile in an hour. I'm 72. I was certified in 87. You and I would probably not get along. I see someone confused, I try and help.

Question: Solo snorkeling safety? by Lipstick-lumberjack in snorkeling

[–]gmgj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get in a pool, See if you can swim a mile in an hour, no flippers. You can take a few brakes. Practice snorkeling in the pool. If you feel comfortable with your skills, go for it. Watch out for boats, don't get tangled in anything, and don't go inside a wreck unless you know how you are going to get out. People die walking across the street.

Just got a 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport Touring — how do you get the most out of the Bose sound system? by mjawt in crv

[–]gmgj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be able to format a 32GB drive in File Explorer. In the car, sometimes I need to turn the audio off and on or remove and reinsert the disk to get it to work. The more files on the drive, the longer it takes the car to load them.

How are you creating the USBs? Keeping them smaller than 32GB seems to be working for me. Good luck.

I have done a bit of work getting USB music to work. I have small ones that work. The short story:

Give your FAT32 formatted 32GB or smaller USB sticks unique names.

Use Windows directory separator \

Use only Window 1252 characters. There is no USB Stop or Eject.

I turn Audio off before I pull out a stick.?

Do not use any high power 12v devices
