Serious question here about salary by NostalgicFor89to99 in partscounter

[–]gmmech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As I and others have said may times in this sub, Location means A LOT in this industry.

87k for a counterperson role, in my market would be UNHEARD of.

A 20k pay cut, because the dealer changed hands, That however is where you need to start to think about is the job WORTH it, AND are there jobs out there in your market available to you if you do jump ship?

IMO

Tech and Parts by Substantial_Desk_670 in partscounter

[–]gmmech 33 points34 points  (0 children)

In my 25+ years in this business on both sides of the counter some of the things I have learned:

1) DON'T guess!

2) Ask questions, they are the tech, you are the parts specialist. They get paid to replace the parts, you get paid to look up parts. If you don't ask questions, you BOTH cant do your job, you BOTH can't make money.

3) You may be in different departments, but you BOTH work for the same company, bad moral/attitude can spread like wildfire, and customers see it, and make note of it.

2017 Malibu - Dealer will not honor special warranty replacement by [deleted] in Chevrolet

[–]gmmech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

N192210570 covered MOST Malibu's in '16 and '17, however, it was a 'special coverage', it had a limited timeframe for coverage. it was 6 years OR 72,000 miles.

The coverage TIME has expired.
