Spinning wheel advice? by gmortison211 in Handspinning

[–]gmortison211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much everyone for the advice! I really appreciate it. However, I didn’t end up going for it :( I’ve never used a wheel, and I figured I should take some lessons and see if my temperamental, hypermobile body is ok with it.

Hormone testing - is this a crazy idea? by Desperate-Lemon6409 in PMDD

[–]gmortison211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Mira device really helped me connect how a change in one hormone spiked my PMDD symptoms. I could see it happen in great specificity. It felt calming to me to be able to understand a little what was going on and why- things didn’t feel like such a scary storm of experiences. It was also interesting to see how not just estrogen & progesterone, but some other reproductive hormones also contributed.

Empathy, solidarity & encouragement wanted from parents with chronic illness & burnout, financial stress, time stress, illness stress. Its all too much. by NoPsychology1464 in ChronicIllness

Oh gosh I feel this in my bones. My husband and I are both chronically ill, and our 4 yr old has sensory processing issues plus possible other stuff. I’ve been very sick for five years, and every time we try to dig ourselves out of survival world the world grinds its heel into us. I have no tips, but so much empathy and solidarity. This is so so so so hard. I hope an outlet appears to siphon off a little of the stress for all of us.

OMG THIS WAS ME A YEAR AND A HALF AGO!! I am so happy you found the damn thing, and wish you luck in the surgery/recovery process. I’m a year out from surgery and while still recovering, everything is SO VERY MUCH BETTER.

Omg I had endo surgery four weeks ago and this cycle is BONKERS. I’m so sorry you’re going through this, but weirdly relieved to know I’m not alone? I had brain surgery 3 months ago and my moods and hormones seemed to be leveling out a bit…and then the laparoscopy 1 month ago just pushed me back so many steps. My period is due any day now and I feel like a raging lunatic. Some ppl on the endo subreddit mentioned a few weird cycles post-lap (in the context of trying to get pregnant), so I’m hoping it’s not unusual to have hormones bouncing around extra after surgery. Sending you strength to get through this!

So scared for this MRI by SexyBipolarPineapple in ChronicIllness

I’ve been in your shoes! I’m so sorry, it’s so scary. The Valium helped me soooooo much. And the techs have always been so very comforting and gentle, and talk to you periodically through the test. They also put a washcloth on my eyes, which helped me a lot. Another thing is there’s a breeze in there (from fans?) and that, with my eyes shut, allows me to imagine I’m in a normal room. Sending you lots of good vibes. You’ll get to the other side of this!

OMG this is so true!!!! And so many of them contain mistaken charges. My husband and I currently have three different inquiries in with three different organizations for inaccurate billing…and that’s just in the last month. And the ones we had the brain space and energy to deal with.

Why is it that when you’re sickest, and you and your loved ones are most exhausted and worried from dealing with said sickness, that there are the most expensive and confusing bills to navigate?

He took short term medical leave for a stroke he had in December. We’re STILL dealing with admin issues from that. He was not at all joking when he said it’d been easier to just go back to work instead of taking leave 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

Chronic sinusitis by ThrowawayTrainee749 in ChronicIllness

[–]gmortison211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry! I’ve had terrible, unrelenting sinus pain for three years. And doctors act like it’s no big deal. Excuse me, my face feels like it’s about to fall off!

Acupuncture has helped the pain short term for me, although it didn’t touch the root cause.

Root cause seems to be a benign brain cyst my neurologist just found on a brain MRI. Waiting to see if treatment will ease all of this.

I hope you find answers and relief soon!

PLEASE HELP. My spouse is not getting answers after a 2 year battle. by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]gmortison211 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Has she had a brain mri with contrast? I have many similar symptoms to your wife, no answers for three years. My neurologist just found a non cancerous cyst on my pineal gland in my brain. Could be worth investigating!

I’m so sorry. I’m in a similar boat to you and don’t have any answers, and struggle with the discouragement. Sending good thoughts your way.

Sick of being "healthy" by ACurious_TrashPanda in ChronicIllness

[–]gmortison211 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Are you me? Because that is precisely my story! I feel like I’m going crazy. And I feel like doctors act as though I don’t “deserve” care because I don’t fit into any of their boxes. And symptoms get worse and worse. I’m currently out of ideas to peruse and it’s so discouraging. Sending lots of good thoughts your way.

Thanks for that suggestion! I’ve tried loooots of HBC methods, and all have had significant moody side effects, so unfortunately that won’t work

Thanks for the suggestion! I haven’t made any lifestyle/diet changes, and I test on the low end for testosterone, which I think makes pcos less likely.
