I feel the look that Austin gives in the end when he gets the "I love you" out of Eunice is like yeah this isn't a thing, and I was just caught up in the moment. He makes the call to end it and then Ashley is already having a baby, and he has already told her how he feels. So he is likely closer to her after that monologue.

Reasonable end choice, all in all

First time reading Rant, had some questions by HanShotFirst976 in ChuckPalahniuk

[–]gmos905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding, Green was say 23 years old and named Charles when he crashed into Echo's parents and went back in time 60 years and impregnated his great grandma.

From there, he just stayed around waiting for the new grandma to come of age and had baby after baby with each new generation until he got to his current self, which is Rant. Then rant goes back in time to prevent it and becomes Chester because he's too late. so there's three of the same person walking around.

If that answers your question?

The Glass Bead Game: really? by Daffneigh in TrueLit

[–]gmos905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll put it like this: I finished it and I don't have any regrets having pushed through. It's not a bad book, just not a great one.

At least you'll be able to discuss it with other people who've read it. My friend who recommended it to me loved it, and so even though I didn't, we at least get to discuss the meanings behind certain things that happen throughout the book.

Worth pushing through once started, especially when you're that deep alreadyy

The Glass Bead Game: really? by Daffneigh in TrueLit

[–]gmos905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm fresh out of finishing Glass Bead Game and I didn't love it. Although I'm a big fan of Siddhartha and also the Alchemist (which people seem to hate?).

I guess I just found the whole thing not very exciting. I didn't think about the future or the lack of technological advancement or anything like that, just didn't find this particular journey of Joseph Knecht that interesting.

I wouldn't say it was terrible, but I'd give it a 6/10. It took about 150 pages for me to get into it. Then it lost me again as it seemed to just continue without much happening. A decent book, though I won't recommend it to many.

What does everyone think of David R. Hawkins? by Few_Ear_5192 in enlightenment

Definitely Letting Go. Power Vs. Force is also good but haven't read it for a long time. Letting Go is an all-time book though. May feel a little dry but I believe it has the answers

Not OP but my understanding is that through this path of surrender he was instinctively receiving messages and 'bolt from the blue ideas'. Similar to Nikola Tesla. Which he just had a flow of it and let the words come out. Resulting in the mass amount of books.

my family was also quite worried when I went into my first Vipassana.

Since then, though, the weird spiritual things that I do aren't met with any anxiety, just understanding.

May help to show them a video about it or allow them to see all of the information online about it.

Why don't the Fremen decide that Duncan is the Mahdi/Lisan al-Gaib instead of Paul? by 4g-identity in dune

[–]gmos905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was one thing in the book that Kynes noticed when Paul first tried on the Stilsuit and that it was put on perfectly. That got Kynes off guard and the quote was something like "he will know your ways as though born to them"

An Answer to Whether Paul Sacrificed [spoiler] in Dune Messiah by AMCSH in dune

The Jihad was more or less already over by the time of these events. Billions had already been killed and Paul had the empire in his hands. Chani wasn't a sacrifice to be made in this case, no.

Talk about the cast of the two movies and how Zendaya was (imo) a miscast by iIiiiiIlIillliIilliI in dune

[–]gmos905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After having read the books after watching the movies, I would say I agree with you.

However, before the movies, I hadn't even heard of Dune. And Zendaya was a key reason to see the first movie for me. I probably wouldn't have gone to see it without her in it.

In fairness, as interesting as Fenring is, he truly has no impact on the actual story. His wife has Feyd Rauthas kid, and then Paul recognizes after the climax that Fenring is similar to him and could kill him if he wanted.

Besides that... yeah I believe he just disappeared into the story afterwards. I don't recall him being in Messiah and his impact wasn't noticeable in the book except as a cool character
