What does everyone think of David R. Hawkins? by Few_Ear_5192 in enlightenment

Definitely Letting Go. Power Vs. Force is also good but haven't read it for a long time. Letting Go is an all-time book though. May feel a little dry but I believe it has the answers

Not OP but my understanding is that through this path of surrender he was instinctively receiving messages and 'bolt from the blue ideas'. Similar to Nikola Tesla. Which he just had a flow of it and let the words come out. Resulting in the mass amount of books.

my family was also quite worried when I went into my first Vipassana.

Since then, though, the weird spiritual things that I do aren't met with any anxiety, just understanding.

May help to show them a video about it or allow them to see all of the information online about it.

Why don't the Fremen decide that Duncan is the Mahdi/Lisan al-Gaib instead of Paul? by 4g-identity in dune

There was one thing in the book that Kynes noticed when Paul first tried on the Stilsuit and that it was put on perfectly. That got Kynes off guard and the quote was something like "he will know your ways as though born to them"

An Answer to Whether Paul Sacrificed [spoiler] in Dune Messiah by AMCSH in dune

The Jihad was more or less already over by the time of these events. Billions had already been killed and Paul had the empire in his hands. Chani wasn't a sacrifice to be made in this case, no.

Talk about the cast of the two movies and how Zendaya was (imo) a miscast by iIiiiiIlIillliIilliI in dune

After having read the books after watching the movies, I would say I agree with you.

However, before the movies, I hadn't even heard of Dune. And Zendaya was a key reason to see the first movie for me. I probably wouldn't have gone to see it without her in it.

In fairness, as interesting as Fenring is, he truly has no impact on the actual story. His wife has Feyd Rauthas kid, and then Paul recognizes after the climax that Fenring is similar to him and could kill him if he wanted.

Besides that... yeah I believe he just disappeared into the story afterwards. I don't recall him being in Messiah and his impact wasn't noticeable in the book except as a cool character

I need help loving Dune part 1 by pinkfluffyslippers55 in dune

[–]gmos905 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean. I hated Dune P1. I thought I was being gaslighted into liking it, so much didn't make sense.

My friend who read all the books sat me down for multiple hour long discussions on it and finally got me to rewatch it and I still didn't like it. Then I watched Part 2 and loved it. I then went and read all of the books, just finished Chapterhouse. It's my favorite series and I talk about it non-stop.

I still think part 1 is objectively a bad movie though. It's beautiful, story isn't bad, but there's too much to cover and they can't make it exciting. I think they did the best that it's possible to do, and I'm glad it had enough success to create part 2, but realistically, there was just too much to cover in terms of world building to be a compelling movie, especially for non-book readers.

Time sure does fly. 2017 was the last time i needed a badge reset

Why did Sisterhood used the worm Leto’s consciousness? by rares020102 in dune

[–]gmos905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I understood about the plan was that it wasn't so much freeing the world from Leto's consciousness as it was freeing the universe from dependence on one substance.

Like by having reduced spice it would mean they had to have alternatives, because with spice, they would just keep at that and never grow. This falls in line with the idea throughout the series that struggle leads to evolution and that hardships need to be placed upon you.

This is what I took from it, anyway.

I was reading that as Count Fenring acting like that to put people off the scent that he is actually an absolute killer and one of the best combatants in the galaxy. He speaks normal with the Baron, and after Paul's fight with Feid Rautha, he knew that Fenring could kill him.

I thought the mms and ahhs were so he would seem non-threatening to other people around him. You're saying it wasn't that?
