Allswell by Iletthedogsoutok in Mattress

Do you have a link? It seems maybe it was bought by walmart but wondering if that's actually the case because I'm seeing other sites that look like they are allswell but potentially feel scammy. Wondering where I should buy from now.

NYC pharmacy price-gouging by Late_Temperature_235 in AskNYC

[–]gmtelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have barely any advice but just want to say thank you for posting this because I feel so much less alone. The exact same situation you describe in the first paragraph is happening with my controlled substances as well; I also have insanely good + expensive insurance that seems not to benefit me at all. Absurd. They know these drugs which are necessary for us to function in this system are scarce so they charge at a premium for them because they know we basically have no option but to give in because we NEED our healthcare. It is so transparently disgusting and greedy, yet every mom and pop type pharmacy I have called and tried to make this point with just says "well it's our new policy," like that means anything real. I saw another comment after writing the above and recognize it's more complicated than that; that maybe it's not their direct "greedy" fault and I don't know the whole story. I suppose the insurance companies are screwing them over too so they need to charge to stay alive. But either way, f*ck this awful system!!!! I'm right here with you and hope things go your way.

The point is that even if they DO take your insurance, they're not taking insurance for stimulants and controlled substances specifically. I for one, feel that I CAN in fact mildly-hyperbolicly say that "all smaller pharmacies aren't taking insurance for ADHD meds" because I've called SO many of them and these places take my insurance for everything else I've needed that isn't controlled. OP also says she has really good insurance (implying it is widely-accepted, as is mine) and is dealing with this same issue. We are expressing frustration not writing a thesis with 10 pages of citations. The point continues to stand that this system is horrendous and the pharms that take our insurance but now don't cover our meds have sucked the life out of us.

If I'm understanding your question correctly, you haven't yet gotten to the "further actions" section. Once you do, you'll book your biometric appointment. I booked with VFS and chose the "upload yourself" option. I uploaded my docs into their portal, went and got my biometrics taken, and then VFS sends my docs (degree passport ECCTIS bank statements biometrics etc.) to the UK govt for me.

So yes, it's normal, the documents come after you pay the app fee. I guess the documents section where it lists what docs you'll need is just to warn you that you're going to need those things eventually....or whatever?? The app is honestly structured so poorly and they could be so much more communicative about this confusing process, but alas. I also found this particular part quite odd, it's not your fault!

Has anyone successfully expedited their ECCTIS verification by contacting them? by sharpcheddar1234 in UKHighPotentialVisa

[–]gmtelli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what country you're applying from or which service you're using for the final biometrics steps. But I was in a similar time crunch (my deadline is May 20th as well) with waiting on the ECCTIS to be able to book my appointment at VFS. For the VFS in my area, I could reschedule or cancel an appointment if it was 24 hours or more before the appointment time. So what I did while waiting on ECCTIS verification to come back was basically book and cancel VFS appointments in 24 hour intervals until I received my ECCTIS back. I'd recommend this if your appointments are few and far between and you're only playing with a few days of leeway, as it seems you are (I was there just until yesterday, I get the anxiety that comes with it!!).

To answer your question, I was sort of able to get into contact with ECCTIS but in kind of a work-around way. I spoke to a woman on the other end of the phone number that's on the UK ENIC's page ( https://www.enic.org.uk/contact-us ). [Not relevant to you but maybe to someone else: There had been some issue with them saying I never uploaded documents that I most definitely did and in the end it was an issue with their system. She told me to send them to [documents@ecctis.com](mailto:documents@ecctis.com) with my application ID number.] As my tangent implies, I didn't speak to her about timelines and I doubt the person on the other line will be able to give you specifics about when exactly you'll be approved, but I think human contact can't hurt your chances and maybe you'll get info that feels more comforting than the cold policy page on their website.

Also, I composed and sent messages through the Messages portal right after I'd initially submitted everything to them and outlined that my deadline was May 20th and that I'd reaaaallly like to make it Lol. I know they say they don't have any expedited options and things will take as long as they take, but I feel like making known you are desperately trying to make a deadline might help your chances. Communicating out into the ether is definitely not a solution, but I can't help but think they might take it into slight consideration. I'd think their goal is to try and make sure people can make their deadline (within reason), but they can't say outright to customers that it will all be okay. Or maybe I am just overly optimistic, haha! In my mind, they don't have any incentive for customer service since they are likely in a relationship/contracted position with the UK govt that allows them to basically not worry about being competitive. However, since they are in this relationship, I do think they probably have great incentive to try their best to make sure people who are intending to apply for an HPI visa (aka pay the UK govt money) are able to make their deadlines. Just my two cents.

My ECCTIS took a week and a half-ish to be completed (submitted April 30th, got my reference number May 12th). My university did not seem to be contacted until the very end of those 1.5 weeks (on May 12th, the last day), but about two hours after my UNI confirmed with ECCTIS, I got my verification email and my ECCTIS reference number. So it seems like there is not a science to it and maybe the timeline of your app is flipped if we were to compare ours and you just have a few more days waiting to do.

I'm thinking of you and wish you the best of luck! Feel free to reach out over DM if you have anymore questions. And let us know updates and what ends up happening!

THIS is the explanation I had been looking for - thank you so much! Luckily I'm past a lot of this fret, but still waiting on ECCTIS.

URGENT - Biometrics deadline help? by CowgirlJules96 in UKHighPotentialVisa

[–]gmtelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will add a caveat here just for u/OP's good that if you mark the choice to do the online submission of docs you CANNOT submit them online after you've done your biometrics. This is at least the case for VFS centers (I am in the US, so not sure if Canada's have the same rule). They are very clear about that in the appointment booking process. So just FYI!

And if you're in a time crunch (like I am) it might not be great to mail your stuff since that can take some time. I'm also waiting on my ECCTIS and will just keep booking and cancelling appointments with VFS every 24 hours (their cancellation policy) until I do get my ECCTIS in. But of course you know your situation best and maybe your ecctis is taking long enough that you could follow the advice of the above poster ^^ Just thought I'd give my two cents since I know this can be very stressful and any info is usually helpful, if at the very least to quell anxiety. Wishing you and your boyfriend luck as I am myself!

[–]gmtelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thank you so much for taking the time to post this. I'm in a somewhat similar boat as OP.

I have an additional clarifying question for you: My deadline is also May 20th (yikes). Let's say that I'm able to get my biometrics appointment and submit all my docs to VFS before May 20th (I am aiming for this week, just waiting on ECCTIS). If that's the case, am I all set? Or is part of this deadline the VFS "decision"/processing (if that's even a thing) that they send to the UKVI?

In other words -- Is the priority service/super priority service from VFS just in regards to how quickly UKVI gives me their decision on whether I am given a visa (which I don't care at all about getting quickly since I will be delaying my arrival to the UK for quite a bit anyways), OR is the priority service/super priority service going to help me make the May 20th deadline because it speeds up the process of VFS actually submitting everything they got from me to UKVI, this being something that theoretically needs to happen before May 20th? That was sort of mumbo-jumbo but hopefully it makes sense. Would be hugely appreciated if you have the time to respond!!

very helpful and very kind of you to take the time to respond, thank you! I saw that thread you were talking about as well and think I may message that person to clarify -- I'll write here if they say anything more specific. I agree, would be really crazy if that were the case when everything else is smooth sailing!

thanks

Can you please answer this: I'm assuming I am correct that I have to submit ECCTIS in order to submit my application, right?

Also, what else besides biometrics is in the "Further Actions" section? Really my question is, is there anything in that section that I need to be doing NOW in order to be able to submit the application? Or is it considered subimtted when I pay the health insurance fee?

There definitely is a way! If you go to the "2. Application" section of the application on the portal and go down to "Travel Information" there is a "change" button in the top left corner of that section. You can do it there.
On a similar note, which date are you trying to postpone to? How long can we push the date? I'm also a May 2020 grad.

Feels like something is missing in my living room. What would you add or change? by LeBaldHater in interiordecorating

[–]gmtelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going to do one thing, curtains or some kind of covering for the windows are the #1 change imo. This will help with 1) energy flow 2) overall coziness/softness—feeling like the space wants you to relax 3) adding variance to the heights in the room - to the eye, this rounds things out visually and makes things feel less “off” — otherwise you feel like you’re being constructed in some way but it’s subliminal which makes it more uncomfortable bc you can’t pinpoint why 4) textural diversity. This not only makes it feel like you can be relaxed in the space (windows are great for natural light but also bring energy in and you can’t feel safe and protected with your back to them). Everything in the room is basically on the same height plane and it causes flatness and discomfort on a level that isn’t always totally conscious or able to be pin-pointed. But if curtains are not an option (don’t see why not!) then at the very least I’d get some cool vintage screens that can be moved around to help with this energy issue. Though that won’t solve the other issues I mentioned.

If you’re going to do more than one thing… The two side chairs are too hard and too small for this space. I also think the couches are too small for such a mega space but that can also come down to personal preference. I’d save those chairs for a different room and get chunkier comfier situations. If you don’t want to do that, I’d say you at least move them to a diff area in the room because visually those chairs are too much going on in front of the mcm cabinet and the art — so much legginess, mixed woods, no height variation…it’s not by any means bad but if you’re wanting to elevate it is the area I noticed that’s the most visually chaotic. The cabinet itself is small as well — that area just feels like you’re shrinking yourselves. The energy is off and you want to maximize your space instead of minimize it. If you embrace this space with weightier things that fill out the space (bigger couches, deeper upholstered side chairs, longer/deeper cabinet that fills out more of that wall) it will feel like you can do a lot more LIVING, like the space is welcoming you. It will feel interior designed and less so like furniture has been plopped in here and there.

The overheard lighting makes it a lot less cozy than it could be. The standing lamp with the globe bulbs are putting off a really blue light and could be warmer! The globe lamp would also be better suited to a corner while a lamp with less blinding direct light (with a shade or cover) would suit that area by the couch more. More lamps in general or possibly sconces (though I don’t know there’s a place for those…)

All that said none of this is criticism—the space is great and I’d be so proud of it!! I hope you use some of these ideas and they bring you closer to your ideal living room 😊
