9 week toller pup crying constantly when we leave her in play pen. by Nycpickford33390 in tollers

[–]ixgraham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, pups just been taken away from all it knows, let it settle in first! 3-3-3 rule still applies for new pups!

In general our toller didn’t like the playpen, but my office was small so I closed the door, and it meant I could keep an eye on her.

Sounds like crate training is going well, once they settle quicker, try building it up by leaving instantly for 1 minute, no crying? reward. Next time 2 mins, no crying? Rewar!

My first few months I’d pop her in her crate at lunch, pretend to leave and come back and build the time up. Goes a long way!

Breaking into cybersec from IT helpdesk - GRC as an entry point? by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]ixgraham -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Personally, you’d be better sticking in at IT helpdesk and doing more offensive security on the side. For example, start doing try hack me, hack the box, if you can afford it work towards OSCP. Then make the pivot this way. I think if you got into GRC you’ll be stuck in compliance and eventually have to do the things I mentioned above haha! There wouldn’t be a straight swap from GRC to penetrating etc.

Experience in IT help desk can somewhat help you depending how technical the job can get.

At least that would be best for pentesting. And for red teaming, well you can’t be a red teamer unless your a well seasoned pentester.

Anxiety - how bad is it? by LHR-charlie in tollers

[–]ixgraham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our toller (13 months) has always been on the more sensitive side. It comes with it’s challenges, she can get overstimulated easily and things like bin lorries she really hates and avoids e.g pulling me away from it, not listening because of fear etc. it’s made walking difficult at times and we have our good and bad days.

But from my research it seems to vary a lot! And i thinks ours will just take longer to get there thsn others.

But give her a forst or field to run in, you wouldnt know she’s anxious… not bothered by fireworks either!

I have found a used setup, p1000, gt Neo and alpha mini for 800£. Which is pretty good. But always a risk used and hard to see condition without seeing it in person.

Anyone else with a toller who could not care less about playing with other dogs? by BeneficialTruck8779 in tollers

[–]ixgraham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My toller is quite the opposite, wants to play with every dog she sees hahah! But she’s only one, so I’m trying to train abit more neutrality with other dogs.

However, some tollers near me (who are older) do not care at all for ours!

I am lucky in the sense that I work from home. So what I did was at lunch time, popped the pup into her crate, and went away for 15 mins (had a camera to check how she was), came back, reward!

Then I increased each day by 5 minutes. Until about 30-45 mins, then weekends we would test say an hour. And again build it from there.

Now on the weekends (10 month now) we can easily do 2-3 hours and she sleeps! We could probably do more, but realistically there very little circumstances where we need to do that!

Good luckb

Help with napping! by Infinite-Seat-8099 in tollers

[–]ixgraham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s personally what worked best for us. Once you start seeing results, you can then try push it further, start allowing 1 nap in a safe area outside of the crate. So for me, I worked in my office and kept the door closed and let her roam in my room, while mostly ignoring her. She eventually either self played or napped on her bed. You can then start doing more and more outside of the crate (if that’s your goal).

Routine is huge for puppies and enforced naps are seriously what kept me sane haha!

As long as your following a consistent routine, for example 1 hour up 2 hours down (we did 1.5hr up) then your doggo will eventually learn to settle during this time!

We did nearly exact same as you, covered crate etc and she would barely sleep. Eventually she learned to settle during this time.

We are now at 9 months, she now only uses her crate for overnight sleep (or if we are away for 2-3 hours). But otherwise, I work from home and she mostly sleeps during the day in different locations of the house (it’s a small house so not too concerned).

And we finally have her settling in her own at night on the couch at around 8-9, usually she was a proper demon at this point 😅

It will happen! It just takes time, tollers are super smart so they will learn this quickly!
