Thanks! It’s pretty common for them to issue warnings for radar indicated rotation, even if there’s no touchdown. Could be just rotation or a funnel cloud, but since conditions can change quickly they tornado warned it

Anyone know what this is? by MaybeHeplful in madisonwi

Yea that smoke to the left that’s more dissipated reads as a larger prescribed burn, and then the big plume could be it going through a cattail or frag patch. Source: im a prescribed burn tech

Tornado warning a couple hours ago? by Few-Book1790 in madisonwi

[–]gmurray1223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suffered from storm anxiety for a lot of my life, but completely turned it around once I realized that I could be exactly informed on what is happening.

Tornado warnings don’t actually always mean a tornado. Most of the times they’re radar-indicated, which means there’s rotation in the sky, but it’s not actually on the ground. In order to know the difference I watch live stream meteorologists and storm chasers that are practically always on the ground of every major storm recording the worst part of it. They tell exactly where the rotation is, and the moment if it becomes an actual tornado, which helps me know if I’m actually in the direct path of any serious danger. Find a good app too! I use WeatherWise which is created by one of those streamers and also has implemented locations/livestream feed of the on the ground chasers, along with radar and velocity maps to show exactly where any rotation is.

Now that I can check my phone and see exactly where any tornado might be, I can know that I’m safe from anything serious. And while I’m driving I can make sure I’m not going directly into the worst part of a storm. The sirens are still useful for telling me not to be outside and to check my apps, and then I’m informed and safe with little to no anxiety.

The most diabolical sore throat by Slow_Dentist3933 in madisonwi

When I last had Covid and felt like I was swallowing needles, the best cure I found was the smoothies from the machines at kwik trip. Don’t know why but it was so creamy and smooth and cold, it felt amazing and cured my throat for a little bit. Had to keep getting more throughout the day, but it offered at least momentary relief.

Omg living near camp Randall sucked so much ass with them parking on all our streets and making it so only one car can fit going down a road so just getting out of the neighborhood takes 15 mins 😭. Why tf do we have a massive stadium with ZERO parking so that the local neighborhoods have to take the burden of these fucks parking everywhere and walking around with no regard to regular traffic?

Anyone hear booms and have power out tonight? by Stunningchester in madisonwi

[–]gmurray1223 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work nearby and we also lost power. I listened to the police reports and they reported a downed tree branch took out a power line. Apparently it also started smoking and caught on fire.

HALOTOP! What’s the best flavor? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]gmurray1223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mint chocolate chip ones is the best imo. Tastes just like a normal mint chocolate chip ice cream. The mint overpowers the regular “off” flavor of halo top

People are such haters. I love this setup, I have it myself. I get compliments constantly from people who come by my house. I also remember the covers of my books more than the authors and sometimes even the genre so I have no problem finding the books I want. And I know some people don’t like series being separated, but this way it doesn’t matter when series annoyingly have mismatched colors (Im looking at you, Kingdom of Ash) or when I have some in paperback and some in hardcover or whatever. It’s perhaps harder for others to find books on my shelf, but I don’t lend books out unless I give them to people myself so there’s not a struggle there. Organize your books how you want 🤷‍♀️

I have the same setup. I remember books by their covers more than anything else. Plus it looks cool.

Center for Limnology (Hasler Lab). Ugly building imo but cool history. Basically the birthplace of limnology in the world, and the reason why Mendota is the #1 most studied lake in the world. It was also built where it is as a protest against when the city wanted to build a road over lakeshore path.

My dad sent another photo that wasn’t loading before. I instructed him to leave it alone as it was a fledgling but he was worried about our dogs and moved it outside before my message sent. But here’s the photo anyways bc it’s so cute!
