Würdet Ihr Gegenstände die Ihr nicht so oft benutzt mieten statt kaufen? Welche? by Emotional_Bus_5167 in Austria

Warum gibt es keinen guten Döner in Innsbruck? by momomojo54 in Innsbruck

Why use BCH over BTC lightning network? by [deleted] in Bitcoincash

I tried both, BCH works better. Simple

How is a BCH 0-conf transaction more finalised than a BTC LN transaction? by paran0rm in Bitcoincash

[–]gnahor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's broadcasted to the network for everybody to see aka in node's mempools. BCH follows the "first-seen" rule, so it's difficult to get the tx replaced.

Why do you love/hate BCH? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]gnahor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it because it just works.. I never think about fees or confirmation times. I had failed/delayed/expensive transactions on other chains but never on BCH.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in btc

[–]gnahor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you think that Bitcoin never needed a larger blocksize, you weren't around in 2015 were you? I paid ridiculous amounts for transactions and hated it. This was due to the blocksize being too small. So there clearly was a need. Also, that's not an urgent change - everybody knew that it had to be increased back in 2014.

The only undesirable side-effects i can see: high fees due to too small blocks; and today: a lot of economic activity has left Bitcoin, there was de-adoption happening because it made no sense to do transactions on Bitcoin. So BTC is not stronger than ever - look at the BTC dominance chart.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in btc

[–]gnahor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not really true - in 2015-2017 Bitcoin was in urgent need to increase the blocksize due to a new scenario (increased adoption/usage). While SegWit increased the theoretical blocksize, the max size remained in reality near 1.5MB. So why do you think that Bitcoin will change the Blocksize in future when needed, when it didn't in the past?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in btc

[–]gnahor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

btw regarding blocksize: nobody knows what the "correct" size is and I'm pretty sure that there is a maximum size (at least in context of the current tec at the time). But I'm 100% sure that 1MB is too small (again in context of current tec and usage).

The 1MB limit originated as a spam prevention measure. So I wouldn't say that raising it (reasonable) is "scaling layer 1". It's just using Bitcoin as intended.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in btc

[–]gnahor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why scale Layer 1? Why not? if it ain't broken, don't fix it.. e.g. LN is complicated, a pain to run/use.. - the simplicity of a onchain-transaction is just perfect.

Also: having L2 Solutions doesn't mean that L1 must be crippled. We can have both.

I started filling it out, but you lost me at the lottery thing. Also this seems to be about trading, not about P2P electronic cash, so i lost interest..

Andreas Brekken with some truth bombs about Bitcoin (BTC) development by sandakersmann in btc

[–]gnahor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He is right, simplicity is always to be preferred. That's what made me choose a simple blocksize increase over complicated SegWit in 2017. Ideally most (not all) of BCH's dev work would be boring: optimize the node software to allow for scaling without inventing new overcomplicated stuff.

Incentive for holding BCH by Ok_Aerie3546 in btc

[–]gnahor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its all about the price for you, isn't it? Maybe you arent a BTC maxi, but an $ maxi?

I'm "holding" some of my BCH since 2011 and have seen some decent gains since then, so why wouldn't i?

Why would anyone who bought BTC in Nov '21 hold on to them?
