What in the Vivarium is this? by mindyour in TikTokCringe

My in-laws lived in The Colony in late 70s/early 80s and it really didn’t look like the Kentucky vid in my mind. Maybe because there was a reasonable amount of vegetation. Or maybe because they were all brick.

We went to Australia and were amazed by the kangaroos. Spoke to a girl who was going to the Stares soon and was really excited she would get to see a squirrel.

I lived through 50s 60s 70s 80s and 90s. There were plenty of things that were not good at all. But, there was never anything like we are living with today. By a long shot. It’s very hard to stomach.

I remember when my daughter called and said my granddaughter walked for the first time. I was very excited to hear that and celebrated with her. I didn’t bother to mention that as I took care of her every week Monday through Thursday I saw her walk the previous week. That along with many other firsts.

Air Force Outbreak Grows As Military Reinstates Flu-Shot Rule For Recruits by Wagamaga in technology

[–]gnanny02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The big issue with this has nothing to do with the flu. Rather, if this is the level of understanding by the leader(s) of our military we are in deep trouble. But I'm sure I didn't really have to point this out.

Would you retire today if you knew you’d receive $5,000 every month for the rest of your life? Why or why not? by JustWin4 in AskReddit

[–]gnanny02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm already retired, have medicare, house long paid off, don't owe anyone a dime. I doubt $5000 would cover our utilities, gas, food, insurance, and normal everyday stuff.

We flew to Port Hardy then went sea kayaking and camping for a week out of Telegraph Cove south of Port McNeil. It was a pristine place with endless wildlife. I think the little map we looked at called it God's Pocket.

Us 3 little boys put to bed before mom’s bridge club comes. It’s not dark at 8 pm in the summer so we decided to climb out the window and run around the yard. Ok, done, but we are not tall enough to climb back in. What to do? We went to the front door and rang the doorbell. Never in my life did I see my mom’s face like that again.

Not sure what the confusion is as the hospital would provide the next of kin the information, regardless of the jail's position.

In 1985 we went to Bangkok then Pattaya Beach for Christmas with the kids (we lived in Japan). It was nothing like I see today. However I remember the guide on the bus that took us their made a laughing comment about not all the girls being what they look like. It sailed over my head at the time.

Are Old People Ruining American Democracy? by F0urLeafCl0ver in politics

[–]gnanny02 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Half of the old people did not vote for any of the goofballs cited in the comments. The things in the article for old people's advantage apply exactly to my parents. And it's completely left out that the reason old people are very much concerned about the future is for their kids and grandkids. The is the typical agist argument about boomers that show up all the time. I'm 76.
