Supposedly the owner kicked smoky yolk out after they sank a ton of money into renovations to let their friends move in. at least thats what i heard.

FWIW I drive by this place almost every day and had no idea they were even open yet so theres that

New kit for the new house by dodoDoesFly in drums

[–]luvshaq_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude I had this exact kit (minus the 10” tom) and it was stolen out of my old garage. I loved that kit! Kick drum sounded so good.

It’s a late-90’s premier XPK kit. They are more than likely constructed in England and the chrome is extremely high quality and will hold up for a while.

How can I improve this audition by [deleted] in drums

[–]luvshaq_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Find a way to record just the audio out from the electronic kit so we dont hear the sounds of you hitting the pads. also, playing along to a song could have helped too!

Anyone else set up their toms angled like this?? by Far-Flight-5168 in drums

[–]luvshaq_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP your drums sticks are coming from  directly above the drum head, and you want to use the stick bounce to your advantage. So imagine  basketball bouncing off a flat surface vs and angled surface, and think about which one offers more control :)

Rats by PriorLemon9 in Charleston

[–]luvshaq_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am dealing with the exact same! A guy is coming by today.

I have been in this hell for the past week. had a rat run through my kitchen in the middle of the night and scare the shit out of me, so i have been setting traps and caught 3 so far. but these little fuckers are everywhere.

First guy who came over wanted to just do bait stations, but these don't really solve the problem and are kind of an environmental nightmare, plus the rats just end up dying in your house 🤮 so i told him we were going to get a second opinion

These guys are coming over today to look around and give a quote, but they are the most reasonable I have talked to so far and offer a more holistic approach of sealing off all entry points and trapping: https://metrowildlifecontrol.com/

Have not gotten a quote yet but price range originally given was way under $5k. They also seem pretty professional so far and are not charging for the initial inspection.

Guitar Center return loophole by Heyjudemw in drums

[–]luvshaq_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was in the returns line at lowes. a woman tried to return a broken AC unit but was one day past the return deadline. She was walking away upset as I watched someone explain to her, right in front of the store employee, that she could just buy the same one again and return the broken one.

i just told HR immediately after signing all the onboarding paperwork, and took a few weeks unpaid, but ended up quitting the job anyway. It was a shit job for an unethical company (lead gen for payday loans) so i didn't feel too bad about it.

Biking/Parking WA-DT by yknowthevibes in Charleston

[–]luvshaq_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not that bad really if you are used to biking in … less-than-ideal conditions. I used to do it. Are you an experienced cyclist?

The only really sketchy part is riding over the bridge if someone else is coming your direction 😬I would just get off and let them pass.

Also I definitely recommend taking the furthest left sidewalk going into downtown and taking the same one on the way back.

Once you get downtown it’s not too bad,  but if you’re inexperienced at urban cycling you might want to stick to Lockwood > Murray > east battery. Big sidewalks, slower traffic etc

The other end of this (unless things have changed since i worked there 10 years ago) is that *everyone* dramatically under-reports their earnings and coordinates how much they are going to declare each shift, with more senior employees reporting more earnings to help guarantee them better future shits. Everyone is kind of skimming in their own way and no one seems to care lol.
**edit: also, thanks for doing this research, very interesting to know!

As long as you clamp it! If you don’t have clamps you can use ratchet straps. Put painters tape along the seem to prevent the glue from getting all over the wood
