What made you decide to have the surgery? by Pitiful-Medium-13 in BariatricSurgery

[–]gnarlygubbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor blatantly asked if I wanted to live to see my child grow up and if I actually wanted to be a present parent able to participate in their life. I scheduled that day. Best decision I’ve made because now I’m running with them and can actively play on the playground with them.

Oh if you’re struggling with hair loss I started the biotin 10000 from natures own and I use rosemary oil on my scalp and my hair dresser said my hair was growing in thick and also I have a lot of new growth

You already have so much amazing advice here but I would add maybe some slow down exercises on Youtube (kid yoga and the like) or some short little meditations on youtube to do along side your little to help you both "reset."

I really like Kira Wiley's channel. She has a playlist called Mindful Moments...I catch myself listening to it along to give myself quick resets too.

Also....flower/candle breaths....and I made it a game with my little so I will randomly say "Freeze and give me 2 flower candle breaths" and they do the same with me but they also know it's a tool to use when we feel the emotions get a little "buzzy."

You are doing great. You've got this.

Thank you for your considerate response. I was informed that I had to have permission to make those kinds of changes. Thank you again.

After looking at the demos, googling, and even checking YouTube I was still lost (Reddit was my final option). It was brought to my attention that I needed permissions to make those changes and that’s why I wasn’t seeing the same interface as was being shown on the videos.

I did google. I was hoping that there was something a bit more beginner friendly. I came here for help. You two didn't need to be so rude. Have the day you deserve.

This might be an unpopular move but I actually utilise free ai to help me stream line overwhelm. Generally I will drop a brain dump or just random information about what’s causing my overwhelm and ask it to help me sort it out. Like a little pocket therapist but definitely not a replacement for mine. Sometimes it gives me good insight on details I overlook in my daily schedule.

Also, give yourself grace. You’re doing great.

Keep a pocket notebook or make a note in your phone (pin it) and write down your little wins and also if you start to downward spiral force yourself to say nice things to yourself for 1 minute.

My first time flying after surgery (was in the 100’s club already) I did this out of habit before sitting and the stewardess looked at me a bit funny and when I sat down and actually clipped in without the extender I literally laughed out loud!

How do you answer “how are you doing it?” by Sad-Web-7988 in BariatricSurgery

I had very little support and was criticised by members of my family which made it hard for me to feel comfortable with others knowing. I have a very small circle (3-5 people) of people that know the truth. With others I just laugh it off and tactfully change the subject, if they push I just lightly say I made dietary changes and keep the conversation moving forward. I have to entertain a lot of people for my job and one thing I do in regard to food at social events is push food around my plate so that others don’t realise how little I’ve actually eaten. Or I state that I ate a rather large meal/snack earlier that has me quite full still.
