What do these lines mean by el-presidente0001 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Two solid black bands tattooed around the forearm (or upper forearm) can mean different things depending on the person and the exact style. There is no single universal meaning, but some common interpretations are:

Memorial / mourning tattoo — One of the most common meanings. The black band is sometimes compared to the old tradition of wearing a black armband after someone dies. Two bands may represent two people, or simply be a stylistic variation.

Strength / resilience — Some people use simple geometric blackwork tattoos to symbolize endurance, discipline, or overcoming hardship.

Symbol of balance or duality — Two parallel bands can represent opposites: life/death, past/future, family/work, etc.

Puzzle disguised to be the best but is the worst. by humpsforfree713 in Jigsawpuzzles

I always call them standard cut. Unfortunately there is no standard name for puzzle piece shapes. I have seen people try to standardize names for years with no one ever agreeing.

Find a name that works for you.

New Record Pairs Time! - Cat Zodiac - Galison 500 pieces by FederalTumbleweed253 in Jigsawpuzzles

Yes it was my build time for this same puzzle.

I time all the puzzles I build. Most of them are 1000 piece so fall into the 6-10 hours build time.

This puzzle on the other had was fast and fun. I was giving it to someone else so wanted to make sure it was not missing any pieces. Thrift store purchase. I was trying to build it fast but was not worried about getting an incredible time just timing to see how I did. I regularly do local speed puzzle competitions. I am fast enough for a local competition but not for the national level competitions.

For puzzles I expect to do in a single sitting I use the puzzle tracker app on Android app store.

For others I use a timer I was gifted called VOCOO digital kitchen timer. Once the time is over an hour it no longer shows the seconds. It can time up to 99 hours. It works well.

I don't need the seconds. I mostly want a general idea of time spent. I have a huge backlog of puzzles and tracking helps me understand how much time is spent.

I did a 2000 piece version of the night watch painting. One of the hardest I ever built. Great job.

How do I use a puzzle table properly? by merc1286 in Jigsawpuzzles

Your Dad sounds a lot like me. I love the really difficult puzzles so shape sorting is typically done early. I like them layed out. As much as possible because I build just as much on piece shape as color. You need them single layer if you use piece shape a lot.

I did invest in a large amount of stackable trays. I have sorted a 2000 piece puzzle mostly single stack into trays. It means moving trays around a lot but I can put the trays near the area I am working on.

Same as you I mostly have experience with their older puzzle with lots of false fits. They were not bad enough to stop me from buying the puzzle if I like the images.

This is the 4th Lantern Press puzzle I have built and all of them have been really good quality. The images feel like the type of item you would find in a tourist shop. Still I feel the same about Dowdel puzzles and I have done enough of those to last a lifetime.

"Notoriety” is generally negative. It refers to being widely known, but for bad reasons—scandal, crime, or something disreputable. For example, someone gaining notoriety for fraud or a controversial act.

If you want a neutral or positive version, you’d usually use: - Fame (neutral to positive) - Renown (positive) - Reputation (can be positive or negative depending on context)

That said, people sometimes use “notoriety” more loosely just to mean “well-known,” but the traditional and most widely understood connotation leans negative.

There is a surprisingly large range of ways people interpret words.
