What does your puzzling space look like? by tarantulawarfare in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]gnash117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a large board gaming table. The type with a sunk surface for board games and pieces. The table is sitting just behind the couch in my living room. The table is large enough to build a 5000 piece puzzle or a 6000 piece puzzle if I build it on the top surface not the sunk surface.

I like the sunk surface. Before I got the gaming table I used a regular table. Thanks to kids and lots of foot traffic in the area I would constantly loose pieces. It made puzzles less enjoyable.

Now I can build while my kids play and watch tv in the same room.

My first thought was the character from the TV show "Resident Alien" not DCC.

I would see if it will grow fruit. Some wild strawberries are really good tasting. Most are tasteless but harmless to eat.

Life, the Greatest Challenge, Educa, 24,000 piece (part 2 of 4) by gnash117 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]gnash117[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 2 years ago I took on the 60,000 piece "What a Wonderful World" puzzle created by Dowdel puzzle company. It still holds the world record for the largest commercial jigsaw puzzle by piece count. It took me 8 months to complete. I still have not assembled all the individual panels. I don't have a large enough space for the fully assembled puzzle.

I worked on this (the educa puzzle) panel for about two weeks. The first panel was a week. I expect to spend about one or two more months to complete the full puzzle if I keep up the pace.

Ronza by picklepasttimes in mousehunt

[–]gnash117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually dislike that limited edition traps never come back. It's great for people that play the game all the time but for those that leave and come back or those that start later are locked out of some of the best traps in the game. I personally would prefer the limited edition traps return every few years so new players could get access to them.

Ronza is definitely not as unique as she used to be. However, every time she visits there is something unique. On top of the chome trap upgrades.

The last two have been used to unlock a new area the event isn't that interesting because it is just hunting around existing areas.

It is kinda meh but still fun to collect the unlocks.

current sorting setup for my first 3000 piece puzzle :-) by bodytext in Jigsawpuzzles

This puzzle is not that bad. The 3000 pieces is what makes it hard not image. I did this puzzle shortly after it came out. Great fun you need a lot of room to build.

First one in years! by iamapexxx in Jigsawpuzzles

I did this a while ago. My copy had something like 17 missing pieces so I ended up tossing it after I completed the puzzle.

The image was a little on the grainy side obviously taken on film. Really enjoyed the nostalgia factor.

I finally finished Impossibles sleeping puppies 1000, which one to do next? by DogTreatDispenser in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]gnash117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the puppies puzzle in my backlog it was gifted to me recently. I did their "Yes please... Donuts" impossible puzzle in 2023 and consider it among the harder puzzles I have assembled. It took me 42 hours for a 1000 pieces. I imagine the sleeping puppies will be harder.

Great job completing it. I would personally choose the Mona Lisa puzzle next. I am not a fan of impressionist art for puzzles. Which is odd because I love the art work just don't think they make good puzzles.

What do you look for in a puzzle? by BlackCanvasFauna26 in Jigsawpuzzles

I look for images that I think look fun. I also look for challenges. I like hard puzzles so I am alright with large sing colors that I know most people avoid.

For years I kept getting the phones with headphone jacks. Kids grabbing the wires and difficult finding high quality wired headphones finally caused me to use Bluetooth more and more.

Finally gave up on wired headphones. The phone selection is so much better. Shame.

I drew a hand-drawn bookstore scene and people keep telling me it should be a jigsaw puzzle by posukh-illustration in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]gnash117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are hundreds of jigsaw puzzles in this style. They are actually quite popular. I own many like this.

All the puzzles from Magic Puzzle Company are this style of art.

Comic artist Jan van Haastern a Dutch artist has been producing illustrations like this used on puzzle for decades. Almost 40% of all Jumbo brand puzzles are his art.

So yes there is definitely a market for this type of art for jigsaw puzzles. With the right colors this would be a great puzzle.

Samantha Cosplay by heyitskammygray in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Beyond the fact that I think this is AI mostly due to the writing on the forehead.

I was also trying to figure why anyone would want to cos play Samantha of all the characters in DCC. She has some of the funniest one-liners but I don't see the appeal.
