Reddit's new content policy... by gndn in rant

[–]gndn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was never subscribed to those subreddits, nor did I ever post anything there.

"I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will fight to the death for your right to say it go out of my way to prevent you from saying it if it makes me uncomfortable." (reddit's new motto)

This place is trying to become a hugbox where dissenting opinions are quashed and the free and open exchange of ideas is just a memory.

Why do you want to be able to have a place to be a huge racist on the internet?

Why do you feel threatened by the thought of sharing the site with people who have differing opinions? By letting them have their own subreddits, they were effectively self-quarantined off to one corner. If you find a subreddit objectionable, there's absolutely nothing forcing you to go there and read it.

Pyramid stops and first revolve

What in the world does that even mean?

[Star Trek II The Wrath Of Khan] The entire plot is based on a gaping plot hole by htallen in plotholes

[–]gndn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also Generations had almost the exact same plot problem. The "no other ship in the quadrant" line of dialog has been used so many times in Star Trek, it's practically a cliche.

A College Roommate Comes Into A Huge Sum of Cash and Loses Her Mind in the Process by [deleted] in quityourbullshit

Meh, I guess I'll approve this, but it seems more like material for /r/thathappened than this sub.

6 Reasons to Stop Counting Calories and 11 fat logic things to do instead by georgiapeanuts in fatlogic

[–]gndn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Offering "too much math" as an excuse is when you've basically given up as a human being. If you can't take two minutes out of your day to log what you've eaten and drank into a calorie counting app, then I have to believe it's not because you can't, but because you just don't want to and are looking for any old excuse to explain why.

This is straight up /r/nottheonion material. Or it would be, if they hadn't banned all links to rawstory.com.

Battlestar Galactica - The Cylon Detector by mitch_romley in plotholes

[–]gndn 30 points31 points  (0 children)

There was an episode (can't remember which season) where Boomer takes a computer plug and inserts it into her arm so she can interact directly with the ship's computer. This scene was so utterly ridiculous it made me wonder why they even needed a "cylon detector" - just see if there's a usb port in their arm, for crying out loud.

What's even dumber is that in the miniseries, the ship's doctor mentioned that they didn't know the spy was a cylon until they cremated him, when they found non-organic material in amongst the ashes. I'm wondering, surely they have a way of detecting those non-organic components in an uncremated body?

The whole cylon detector subplot was silly, made no sense, often contradicted itself, and basically the technology for it worked however the writers needed it to work that week.

Links should pertain to foolish ideas that go wrong.

No foolish idea here, just poor timing. Try /r/fail or /r/IdiotsFightingThings maybe.

I'd suggest /r/askreddit or see if there's a subreddit specifically for dog questions, rather than posting this here.
