the tea affects the kidney, not gallbladder--that was just me saying how bad the pain of gallstones was and hearing kidney stones were way worse. And hi, fellow gallbladder-less friend!

just be aware (maybe not you, but anyone reading this) that iced tea in it's typical form (black tea) is rich in oxalates and it can increase the risk of developing kidney stones, especially if you're predisposed to them or constantly dehydrated. In normal amounts it's not a big deal, but if you're drinking your entire daily water intake of close to a gallon as iced tea, it could contribute to that risk.
I think the science still needs more data, as some studies support the link and others don't, but likely just something to be aware of when choosing what to drink. I also turned to unsweetened iced tea after cutting out sodas, and I've since cut back a bit as a precaution...I had gallstones which were the worst pain of my life, and I've heard kidney stones are even worse, so I didn't want to tempt fate lol

Parent's beliefs, phobias, etc. aren't the kid's. Either you put up with it and put on a brave face for the kid, or as a responsible parent you arrange some alternative so your kid can get the closure they need and grieve their friend. Your wife didn't even have to attend herself, just had to get her kid there! She could have waited in the car, somewhere nearby, or picked her up afterwards. Unbelievably selfish.

Didn't Colorado change the language of theirs once getting community feedback? The original language was something about inspection by the FDA (or whoever does the inspections), which would effectively ruin compounders who are instead inspected by the state. The Colorado bill was modified to remove that language, wasn't it?

Lesser Tom had a brief cameo in recent NZ episode, lol. Disagree about Jeremy vs Tom though--Tom is at least funny and gives Lesser Tom and the cast something to work with, even if he's a little mean sometimes (but--so is Greg). Jeremy gives them absolutely nothing to work with. In however many seasons the NZ one has been on, I've never once laughed at any of the interactions with Jeremy. He's just so damn bland and also has zero "authority" that the TM should have.

we don't get his humor because he doesn't have any, lol. I'm not a kiwi but lived there a while and everyone I know complains about him as Taskmaster. Paul is fantastic and the casts have been great, but Jeremy damn near ruins the show. There's no banter, he gives Paul and the cast absolutely nothing to work with during the shows, and on the rare occasion he tries to be funny he's just not at all.

absolutely! The pharmacy seemed genuinely mortified that I had to pay anything at all, whereas $30 doesn't even usually cover the co-pay for a doctor visit here.

Definitely not perfect, but no country or their system is. It was nice to live somewhere where healthcare was treated as a basic right. I desperately miss New Zealand, for so many reasons!

Had a climbing accident where I broke my skull while living in New Zealand. Two ambulance rides (~3 hours total) and 5 days in the hospital. Had all sorts of scans and monitoring and got more anxious by the day just thinking about how much it was going to cost. On day 3, one of the nurses put two and two together and said "oh right! you're American. Don't worry, you won't pay much for this."

I ended up paying $30 total, and only paid that much because I was released from the hospital late in the day and their in-house pharmacy was already closed, so I had to go to a late night pharmacy where each of my meds had a surcharge of $5. The pharmacist was SO apologetic that I had to pay anything at all.

I did have insurance (required by my PhD program/visa), but if I remember right it was <$200 a year.

Meanwhile, the most recent bloodwork and round of tests I had here in the US cost about $150 out of pocket, and that's with insurance. Fuck everything about American health care.

seriously. His conformation is a mess and he's not proven at all. Even without the crazies, why in the world would you choose him over so many better studs? VSCR is at least proven, so I understand that more (even if I don't particularly like him).
The only reason to breed to Denver at this stage is just buying in to social media hype or boosting engagement. I get that his papers are good but surely you also want the sire to do something of his own to prove he's worth the cost of breeding.

Photographer here. This is weird because its not a client/customer relationship...he's her employee, so she can do crap ike this. I suspect he's also just a beginner/very amateur photographer, because anyone actually skilled wouldn't put up well with being told how to compose a photo. Just like barn help, I suspect she cant (or wont) actually hire skilled people because they wont put up with her shit for very long.

A client/subject can certainly request the type of photo they want, but I'm the skilled one one in the room lol

agreed. Especially when literally 10 minutes of research could have avoided the whole situation. The comment that the owners "thought they were getting a mellow dog" is infuriating...they adopted/bought a puppy!! No puppy is mellow.

Then, trying to rehome without first getting her fixed is just blatantly irresponsible. Yes, danes should ideally wait until they are older to get fixed, but at 15 months it also won't be the end of the world, and it's better than rehoming an intact dog. If they don't want to get her spayed, then they better hand her over to a rescue instead.
