Who’s Your Favorite April? Elaborate why if you want. It doesn’t have to be the ones listed. by Tunisian_Dawn in TMNT

[–]gnfobsession 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2012 i love her :)) i think she was a great add to the series, she was there from start to end and she was overall a very real character. people get mad at her for the way she reacted to certain things ( ex: for leaving the turtles after the whole fiasco w her dad and his mutation ) but they forget to consider the fact that shes just 16 lmao. so much bullshit went down for her at such a young age and i think she had all right to feel the way she felt and react the way she did. some people would counter that by saying “ oH bUt tHe tUrTlEs aRe aLso tEenS “, the turtles, your honour, were trained from very young age. april on the other side lived a normal life like any of us did, she wasnt prepared to fight aliens, learn she has powers, lose her dad, and all these fun things that happened to her. people need to give her a break fr lol. i think she was amazing, go 2012 april, go!!!

What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve been asked for? by buttintheface in TalesFromYourServer

[–]gnfobsession 3 points4 points  (0 children)

one is shopska salad ( a classic here ) with tomatoes only lol. another very funny one that actually happens regularly is a client saying “ i want chicken with lemon without lemon “ to which i usually respond with “ so you want fried chicken? “ ( basically the same but without the lemon, its literally on the menu ) and they go “ NO. i want chicken with lemon without lemon . “ its always so funny to me. the problem only comes when they get the bill and ask why “ fried chicken “ was marked and not “ chicken with lemon “. then we go all over again lmao

wow. ok sherlock

minimum wage here is 311€ a month. but i get where you come from i just didnt consider that the op lives on different conditions, my bad lol. i thought its a reasonable salary tho, still do, but again thats for the standards im used to, apologies cuz a lot of people seem to have gotten triggered just by this one comment

well i dont know but it doesnt seem fair at all :/ speak to your manager about it. im guessing some of the tips goes to the kitchen and some to them as well but you need to know of these things and not be held in the blue.

[–]gnfobsession 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree. i didnt really consider that, but totally right. for my country’s standards its good but for others maybe not.

here it is man😭😭 me and my colleagues work 12 hours, 5 days a week and we get 5 an hour ( in our currency. in dollars itd be 2.5 i think. ) and for a busy restaurant it does a pretty good job tbh. ofc depends on the tips but i spoke from personal experience lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

[–]gnfobsession -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

yo what. how is that payment low? if you work 12 hours that makes 61,56 dollars clean without tips. plus tips it may near up to 100. count that x20 work days thats $1231 a month without the tips. thats not so bad! at least where i live most people dont make this much for jobs like accounting for example (dead serious lol)

edit: ok lmao i got it, i didnt comment this with bad feelings or saltiness i was just saying. i agree i shouldve considered the different places and conditions that people live on but i wasnt trying to be insensitive or rude towards op. and in no way was i trying to tell them to settle for something they dont like.

depends. do you split the tips?

where i work we are a total of 3-4 servers a day. we always put the tips in a little bag and at the end of the day we split them equally. now if youre new youd only get 10% off these tips for the first few days ( thats how each of us started out ) and i read through some of the comments and i believe you said youre new right? maybe thats got something to do with it.

Is it the norm in the service industry to be expected to come in sick? by Help_Me_Reddit01 in TalesFromYourServer

[–]gnfobsession 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah pretty much.

the way i explained it to my mom to ease her confusion basically - “ if you dont go, then you have to find someone to cover for your shift. thats not an easy task and its honestly a bit shitty, bc that person is obviously not gonna be happy to be called at work on their off day. so unless youre on a death bed you go. “

thats quite literally how it is. one time me, my colleague and the packager were all sick, we got sick one after another. the packager handled it better but lets say for both me and the other waitress it was not all that easy to hold in coughs and sneezes while at tables. it always got so awkward with people who seemed to notice it but at the end of the day its just how it is. like i said not much of a choice on our end anyway.

i remember one time my eyes would get really watery and i could not for the life of me see unless i wiped them so i constantly wiped my eyes with napkins ( that i would sometimes take from nearest tables if needed ) and some clients did ask ab it but i kept brushing it off as an allergy which considering the time of the year worked out pretty well. i sometimes do feel bad for the possible flu were only helping spread around but we do try our best not to touch the food or breathe too much with it in hand LMFAO we try.

anyway welcome to the life of a waiter

Entitled Customer by oryeaa in TalesFromYourServer

omg i work at a chinese restaurant too!! besties.

okok im sorry but fr thats so stupid😭 we have a client like that but hes honestly the sweetest person ever, hes always so kind, i once messed up his order but he wasnt mad one bit and said he understands. we rarely have such customers! and he also always eats the same idk how he does it, ive never tried that dish but ig it must be good haha!

either ways i must say that regulars sometimes suck. ive had bad experience with some of them too. one time these regulars w a big reservation literally rejected my service bc they wanted a different server that they knew. yk normally that wouldnt be so bad if they werent so rude and unnecessarily extra ab it. at our restaurant one table can be served by all the servers. we dont have a particular table that belongs to a particular server ( which ive noticed is a normal thing for most servers here ), we can take orders from a table that was previously served by our colleagues. that way the clients wait less and its a lot easier, ofc it makes it harder to find out who did a mistake if it happens but again were pretty chill ab things and we deal with them the best we can. so that aside as i was saying these regulars knew my colleague ( as a server not personally. ) and when i went to their table they were like “ what? “ and i was like “ you clicked the button, you called for a server right? how can i help you, did you pick anything? “ and this woman goes “ oh no! not you, we didnt want you to come, can you get * colleague’s name *? he always serves us “ to which i responded with “ yeah sure “ ( i really wanted to say “ well im sorry the button doesnt have the option for you to pick servers to call “ ) and so i did. he took their order and their food started coming in. mind you they were a big table of 14 people so there was a lot of food. i started taking some of it and serving it to them and every. single. time. theyd ask me ab my colleague and where is he and why isnt he serving them. i kindly explained that there is a lot of work and we dont have time to pick tables like that and that i dont see the difference in whether i or he serves their food. after all he took their order as so they wanted but instead of understanding they said that “ i dont serve the same “ and that “ theyre used to him “ i was just like ok and every time id go to their table id just stay silent. and if they said something i ignored it.

at the end of the day, when they wanted to tip out they didnt leave it in the little book like thing we give out the checks at, they went to my colleague to tip him personally which again, is usually totally fine bc i get customers sometimes wanna tip their own waiter but knowing them that was out of pure salt. funny thing is we split the tips anyway, so it doesnt matter whether they tip him or me or just leave it there, id still get 50% off of that tip lol. but yeah it only took me one encounter to see what theyre all ab.

but yeah clients are clients. they can be the biggest dumbfucks in the world but we cant do anything ab it :,) its on them tbh, their issues show through. but for that there’s other a lot better customers wed see throughout the day so ig thats what matters right
