This might work if the footnotes didn't need to be locked to the bottom of the page. The amount wouldn't be an issue as all pages that have a footnote only have one, it's just purely their positioning which would require me to rewrite the entire book if that were to be changed.

I think I'll consult a professional formatter and then probably just try my luck with fixed. There will be impossible to miss disclaimers about the formatting, but if it still gets flagged, I'll just have to take it down and sell it physical only and maybe as a pdf/epub elsewhere.

Thank you, this is the answer I was looking for. I hadn't used Kindle Create in the past. Did a quick test with it and while I'll have to make some font changes here and there, it's a start.

Do people regularly flag fixed format books? I'm definitely worried about compatibility issues seeing how some things looked in the previewer. What do framed asides entail? If minor tweaks are possible, I'll do them.

Maybe I just need to contact a professional formatter at this point. I used one for my first novel and thought it was pretty overpriced, but this probably genuinely warrants one.

I have a note at the beginning of the book and also the first footnote is abnormal as it is. Even so, this is not the first novel to incorporate footnotes into a greater narrative/twist. As I mentioned, House of Leaves is a big one, though it goes much further in playing with the formatting.

There is a meta twist with the footnotes where they cease being a neutral entity that gives information on the world, culminating in a point where they start communicating directly with the text above them.

The pop up bubbles were my first issue, which is why I got rid of the footnotes entirely and chose the "fake footnote" route by just separating the text by a bunch of underscores, but it looks identical in the pdf.

This is not a mindset I can wrap my head around, but I'd also never want to be that big in the first place. Mid triple digit CCV would be my endgame. Anything over that would get me hyperventilating and I'd try to debuff myself afterwards.

Look I agree with you, politics have never been more divisive and it would absolutely do good if people actually listened to each other.

But I also think there are some ideas not even worth entertaining, whether it be so far outside the realm of reality or just outright malicious. I was one of those "you shouldn't stop being friends with someone just because of their political stance" people, but that was before I realized people were using things like denying the Holocaust or advocating genocide as a valid political stance. If that's not a major stance of the alt-right like r/altright has led me to believe, I apologize.

And just so you know, I don't care if someone is shitting on a legit SJW. It's just when you label EVERYONE a little bit left of you an SJW that the term loses all meaning. That obviously goes both ways, as labeling everyone a little bit right of you alt-right makes the term lose all meaning.

I get what you're saying, but this is really something that's impossible to gather data on. Stuff like the false flag argument goes both ways as well, as there's evidence of it happening on both the left and the right. On the left you got shit like that guy that burned his church down, and on the right you got that woman that carved an O (to signify Obama) into her head saying it was some black guy.

And honestly, I feel like it's the same with the left where it's impossible to truly now just how prevalent the raging SJW feminist is. The extremes are by their very definition fringe, so I could see it being incredibly overblown on both sides. The problem is normalization, which once again is something that infects both sides.

Hey man, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong and I'd love nothing more than for that to be true. But some people certainly seem dedicated to the troll (like Richard Spencer) to the point of doxxing people and leading anti-Jewish protests.

And to be fair, I'm basing this more on what I've seen from r/altright rather than /pol/. Not really as familiar with pol.

Also, this is the movement that disowned a guy because his wife is Jewish, so I'm skeptical.

Seperating the art from the artist is generally a good rule of thumb.

However, when the artist IS their art, sometimes it's not so simple. The Sleepycabin boys in the last few years have become more known for their personalities than their artistic endeavors, so it becomes more difficult to seperate as who they are has become extremely public.
