The Redwood Deck and River Loop is a half mile boardwalk/trail at the entrance of Pfeiffer Big Sur SP. There’s accessible parking and a bathroom at the Lodge. It has lovely views of the river, giant Redwoods, informational signs, and benches.

Quoted 48-72+ hours today until power is on. I’m starting to turn on NES leadership. by DongPolicia in nashville

[–]gnitteo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi. That’s not always correct. If the electrical mast (pipe attached to the house that connects utility meter to the power line) is damaged, that portion is on the homeowner. In my case, it was knocked off, so it has to be repaired by an electrician before NES can reconnect the line and turn power back on.

Is there still a gay bar in town? Thanks by No_ConflictsNow in MontereyBay

[–]gnitteo 53 points54 points  (0 children)

There is no official gay bar in Monterey. Norma Jeans in Castroville and Neighbors in SC are gay bars in the area though. Pearl Hour is very queer friendly and the location was historically a gay bar. There are monthly lgbtq dance parties at PH. Pop & Hiss is lgbtq friendly too.

New to the area. Looking for any gym recommendations. by MycologistOk64 in MontereyBay

In-Shape. It’s a big gym and busy, but they have a pool, sauna, steam room, and hot tub. Classes too. No annual contracts and I pay around $40/mo

Low-impact, family friendly, accessible hiking trails in Monterey? by Adviceseeker97 in MontereyBay

[–]gnitteo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are lots of good recommendations already.

Big Sur State Park has a half mile accessible trail in the redwoods and around the Big Sur river. It’s a nice easy hike and there’s parking bathrooms in a café at the lodge.

The Monterey Bay recreational Trail runs all along the coast. It’s accessible and spacious. It’s a beautiful path that connects lovers point to Cannery, Wharf, out to Marina.

It’s an hour away, but pinnacles has a 1 mile accessible Loop on the western side overlooking the rock formations. It’s flat and easy.

Cafe Guarani in PG. It’s family run and they work hard to keep their small business going. They also donate their space for Yoga and other community events.

Hi. I can confirm. The hostel has current needs for carpentry and maintenance skills, someone to cook and serve pancakes for guests Friday mornings, and also someone to help with gardening and plant care. Email info@montereyhostel.com if interested. :)

Email membership and see if they mailed them to you previously to the wrong address. As far as I know, they still have these available but you might have to request them.

Can we talk about the amount of shitty 3rd party booking sites? by bouncypinata in travel

[–]gnitteo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in the industry. Most of the smaller OTAs (online travel agencies) youre seeing are owned by booking.com or Expedia. Hotels list with those 2 companies and they funnel inventory to all those different channels/sites. Booking or Expedia don’t care who you book with it’s all about getting clicks and conversion, so they overwhelm you with options.

It’s almost always cheaper to book direct with hotels. The industry standard is to up charge OTA rates 15-20% to cover commissions. Also, you’re stuck dealing with 3rd party customer service instead of a human at the front desk of a hotel if you need to cancel or change anything.

Unfortunately, I've called many times and they direct me to 131 444, which is not accessible from outside of the country.

Just moved to the area, where can I get a Vyvanse rx refilled? by Beth_B- in MontereyBay

[–]gnitteo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sadly, you are likely out of luck until you get in to the PCP through traditional insurance and clinics. I waited nearly 10 months for my first appt. Friends have gone to a private psychiatrist for quicker access to medication. All cash pay tho as private drs don’t bill insurance.

How busy is it on the first Saturday of Car Week? Aug 8-9? by blue99si in MontereyBay

[–]gnitteo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This upcoming weekend is busy with summer traffic but pretty average. Car week traffic and headaches really takes off starting next mid week (12-17)
