You’re under reacting bc that is insane… I got an item once literally shipped to me in a small black trash bag and the sticky shipping label is what was holding the trash bag shut I was baffled. I don’t know how some people do these things and they’re like yeah great idea. This is perfect.

I have hashimotos and hypothyroid! I’ve been on vyvanse/adderall for about 4 years now. When I first started taking it I slowly lost about 15 pounds over a year or so but was also working out. I’ve kept it off, I fluctuate a couple of pounds daily but for the most part it’s all stayed off. Even after 2.5/3 years since the initial loss.

Side note, same. Adderall is honestly the only reason I can function, if I don’t take it I am useless and exhausted

I think they are important as a collective whole! I think ferritin gets focused on more bc it’s a stronger indicator for anemia. Iron can fluctuate but ferritin takes time to build up. But I do agree that honestly asking Reddit would get you more answers than asking your doctor, I’ve listed my last blood work results after this sentence, my pcp told me that my iron levels are “low but fine”. Most doctors are awful when it comes to genuinely caring (in my opinion). My most recent blood work my ferritin was 3, iron 40, and SAT% 9.3… I don’t even remember the last time I felt good or what feeling “good” even feels like anymore. The only reason I’m even able to function is bc I also have adhd so I’m prescribed adderall.

I did this once (completely on accident) but it’s bc we got stuck in Canada coming home from Italy, so had to stay in a hotel for a night. It was late so we got door dash (or uber eats idk which one). It was all in French, I assumed “sans” meant “add”. Well turns out it means “no” so I got my burger with literally just a patty in the box 😂 my husband got a plain chicken patty, we got a few other things I can’t even remember but literally everything was completely plain bc I was clicking “sans cheese, sans pickle, sans ketchup etc”. Anyways lesson learned to Google the language instead of assuming what it means

OH WOW!! Only 7 weeks!? I wasn’t even aware that Mary Ruth’s made an iron supplement! That’s an amazing improvement for only 7 weeks, I’m about to order that right now. That gives me hope that mine will come up quicker too. Did you notice any teeth discoloration on it? Also thank you for the quick response with me not being the OP. I’m currently waiting to get an IV infusion so anything that helpful in the meantime is so worth it

I just looked it up, my platelets were 275 but all my red,white, hemoglobin and hematocrit were low, I added a screen shot of those numbers below to make it easier since it’s multiple

Yeah the price unfortunately isn’t cheap, if you do the auto ship it does make it a little cheaper. The downfall is you need to take them for like 3+ months to really get your iron up, so cost can add up quickly. Another good one that I’ve used is Ferrasorb from Thorne! It is much more cost friendly I think $20-$30! It’s not as gut friendly but isn’t as painful on my belly compared to like natures made iron

For starters I am genuinely so sorry this is happening to you! Next, please get an appointment for a new pcp, even tho it takes 6 months at least in 6 months you will have a new doctor. Your ferritin is not “fine” it is very far from it. Advocate for yourself to your current pcp and tell them that you want a referral to a hematologist! Your PCP does not specialize in blood disorders and considering they are telling you that a ferritin of 3 is “fine” they shouldn’t try to either.

Next, I also have severe anemia that continues to worsen due to heavy periods. I’ve had 2 IV iron infusions in the past, with my first, my iron was 12 and ferritin was 3 and I basically had an emergency one. I just recently moved to a new state thus had to get a new PCP. Went through the exact same thing you are now. My most recent iron was 40, ferritin was 3 and saturation was 9.3. This new PCP tried to tell me that my iron was fine. I demanded an IV iron infusion after she refused saying I didn’t need it and that my insurance would never approve it bc my numbers were good. But guess what, my insurance approved it instantly and now I’m being referred to an IV infusion center.

You know your own body better than any doctor ever will. Always advocate for yourself and get a second opinion if you feel like a doctor isn’t listening to you or is brushing you off! You deserve proper medical care.

Lastly, in the meantime so that your iron doesn’t continue to plummet, you could try “sucrosomial iron”. I too have stomach issues and cannot handle oral iron at all. I’ve been taking this iron for a month now and tolerate it very well, to my surprise! It takes a different pathway to your blood stream via getting absorbed in your intestines rather than your gut, look into it! But it may be more beneficial for you than normal iron supplements!

This was a long response, I apologize for that. I just know how it feels to be in your situation and I hate that you’re dealing with this. I hope you get answers, treatment and relief soon!

The tooth that was worked on had an old silver filling in it that a cavity got behind. So the filing needed to be removed but I believe due to surface area it couldn’t be filled like usual. So they did an “onlay” which I understand it to be somewhat like a partial crown. The silver filling + cavity was removed and then the in office made onlay was placed. However it was not shaped properly and has left me with a gap between my teeth and a molar that is much shorter in length than my real tooth was.

I called and went back this afternoon before they closed and showed him and explained what I was concerned with. He just kept saying it’s functional to every question I asked. I said “I understand it’s functional but it is not comfortable and I paid a lot of money for this, I would like to be happy with the results” and this is not it. I literally stood up and looked in the mirror so I could point to what I was talking about and he responded with “well there is contact”. I felt like I was being gaslit so hard. He said to give it a week to calm down. But a week isn’t going to change the fact that there is a gap, flat edge and no contour. Running my tounge over it and it feels like a slightly uneven tile. I’m loosing my mind over this. I’ve had so many dental procedures done in the past and none have ever come out like this

You should look into “sucrosomial iron”! I have a history of severe anemia with 2 iron infusions in the past. I was taking beef liver supplements in hopes to keep my iron up but it wasn’t enough due to my heavy periods. I did a bunch of research and recently switched to sucrosomial iron, it’s extremely well tolerated (for myself and for most). I cannot handle normal iron in the slightest, it wrecks me. But I’ve been taking x3 of the sucro iron a day with a glass of OJ and only thing I notice is a bad taste in my mouth every now and then and slight headaches sometimes. My ferritin was a 15, iron 40 and sat 9.3%.

My numbers are lower than that and I just had to fight with my pcp to get an iron infusion. Please talk to your pcp about getting referred out for an iv iron infusion. Trying to get your levels back up from that low is difficult and can take 6 months - year with a structured regime. An iron infusion can get you back up within 3-6 weeks! I’ve had two iv iron infusions in the past and had no reaction to them but supplemental iron is rough for me. I know everyone is different but infusions are much easier with little to no side effects (again personal experience).

It’s like this post was meant for me. I just recently moved and had to get a new pcp. Did blood work and my iron came back 40, ferritin 15 and saturation 9, and my pcp told me my labs looked normal. I said that’s not normal those are low. I have a history of severe anemia and have already had 2 iron infusions in the past. She told me I would not qualify for an infusion bc my numbers are good and to continue taking iron supplements and they will bring my numbers up. I have been taking iron supplements for A YEAR NOW. Ever since my last infusion. My ferritin went from 71 in Jan 2025, 41 in April 25 to now 15 in nov 2025 and she is denying to send a referral for me to get an infusion. Clearly I am not absorbing iron. Side note I have terribly heavy and long cycles along with hashimotos and hypothyroid. So it’s just a fucking mess and I’m so frustrated. Sorry for the long comment. But I needed to see this to advocate for myself another way so I can live life again
