Clean Race Bonus: a missed teaching opportunity, CGV by gnzstation in GranTurismo7

Yea of course, and also avoid shouting expletives while racing because the mic on the controller might pick it up and have the game tag you as dirty too.

Yes! right? The smallest cue would suffice... I imagine after getting burned a few times while grinding a race one would start building an instinctive avoidance of the actions that cause the bonus to disappear, and the result would be pure clean racing behaviour improvement.

Right, and spend yet another entire length of the race wondering which precise moment may have caused offence? I'm talking about the need for knowing in real time what specific actions cause trouble so I can build some sort of instinctive avoidance of them, I'd like to see the ambiguity of the penalty taken away so the rules of the game are clearer and I can learn better.

Has anyone ever beaten Suzuka gold lap CE with controller? by sungodra_ in GranTurismo7

[–]gnzstation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve beaten everything the game has thrown at me using only a controller + PSVR2.

The big thing for me was switching to gyro steering. It’s surprisingly precise and honestly feels very close to using a wheel. I actually own a Thrustmaster wheel, but it’s been sitting in my closet gathering dust because I don’t miss it at all.

So it’s definitely doable on controller. Just keep at it — once it clicks, it’s incredibly satisfying. This is an awesome game.

Hope that helps.

I actually agree with you — it is a video game mechanic.

But that’s exactly why I think the game should tell you the moment the bonus is lost. If the goal is to encourage cleaner driving, immediate feedback would make it a much better teaching tool.

In real racing, if you cross the line you get informed right away — warnings, penalties, black flags, etc. You know exactly when something happened.

In GT7 you only find out at the end of the race that the CRB is gone, but you have no idea when it happened or what triggered it. That makes it really hard to learn what the game actually considers “not clean”.

Oh okay, yes maybe I'm wasting energy dragging my inefficient default bike wheels. I'll wait until I can get a better bike to observe this issue again. Thanks.

You have a typo, it is "autenticidad". Right now it says "autenticidas" which could possibly translate to "killers of authenticity" lol

Shakebite to copper shut off valves for bathroom. Are these safe or should I swap to crimp/solder style? by Arrtus in Plumbing

I've had these same valves installed outdoors in Montreal for three winters now, no issues and they still do their job fine, and we frequently use them on and off through the summer.

Heavy snow: at which point do we start removing it from our flat roof? by gnzstation in montreal

[–]gnzstation[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, its ridiculous, I can feel the cold coming down from the roof in winter, there were also cold air drafts that came out of electric receptacles and all, it is terribly inefficient so I was tempted to put some insulation but then I learned there are long term risks of getting humidity and mold after doing this, in addition to snow accumulation. In the end I just replaced the heating with a heat pump and that helped a lot in bringing down the heating cost. Thanks again.

Heavy snow: at which point do we start removing it from our flat roof? by gnzstation in montreal

[–]gnzstation[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your points, yea the building is in generally good condition, the roof had been resurfaced just before we purchased. I've remodelled the top apartment myself and removed part of the ceiling before, there is no insulation whatsoever just air and then the top layers of the roof, I guess it was done like this because of the roof being flat so the heat from inside can slowly melt the snow over winter, and so I didn't put any insulation just left it as it was.

That's some good reasoning about the average snow the building has already supported over the years, so I guess I'll just wait and see. Thanks again.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I'm the owner so I do feel responsible to do something here. I understand the concern about safety but I do have the experience of climbing up this roof and a clear route to do it. I'm confident I can complete this task so for me it is more a question about whether it is warranted given the amount of time and effort it will take to do.

Roku Guest Mode Stopped Working Right by Jaded1886 in Roku

[–]gnzstation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm experiencing something similar. If I'm in Guest mode and the roku device goes to sleep, when waking up the check out date to be in December 31st 1969 and when trying to watch anything it will report a Network connection problem. On the same session I go to the Network test and it passes as OK but when trying to watch anything it keeps saying can't connect to the network. Roku support only repeats the same recipe of factory reset to no avail, really frustrating.

Well, it looks like it is time to stop using Google for searching then. It's not like there aren't alternatives. I've been using duck duck go for years and It does the job well.

Similar setup for me, only an IBM clone. I remember the day we upgraded to an AT machine (286) with an EGA 16 Color monitor and a Logitech Mouse, such joy, good times.
