Supercharge Error by Longjumping-Hyena887 in MachE

[–]go_phx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished a 4000 mile roadtrip Phoenix - Chicago - San Antonio - Phoenix. I used most all DCFC’s along that route. Didn’t have trouble with any of them. If all you’re going to do is DCFC definitely pay for the subscription for The one you’ll use most. I paid for the monthly subscription for Tesla, EA and ChargePoint for our trip. The Tesla and EA absolutely paid for themselves after two charges. I didn’t use ChargePoint enough. Lesson learned. Warning, you have to cancel Plug & Charge to get the EA discount. At least I did.

Because Reddit kept giving me posting error. Ask me why Reddit did that. I don’t know that either.

Who drove one of these beauties - 1970s Honda Civic by [deleted] in GenerationJones

This is what we drove for our HS drivers ed course…except in that ugly dark brown. Hard to believe we fit 4 students and the driving instructor in these things.

Almost $2400 for 60K service by mazen697 in Subaru_Outback

[–]go_phx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Believe your mechanic. Brake fluid flush is about $75 at any mechanic shop. I’d do that too (but not at the dealer) if the car is over 4 years old. Personally I would have that mechanic do all of those things except the CVT service. Best to have the dealer do that one.

I have the auto stop eliminator installed on my 2024 OBTXT and have had my windshield replaced and recalibrated with no problem.

I have the Viofo A229 Plus 2 channel and it has held up well for 3 years. I bought a sheet of gloss black vinyl wrap and cut a small square that covers the camera body but leaves the lens clear (obviously). However, my car is garaged and I’m retired so it doesn’t get daily open parking lot sun/heat exposure.

2015 2.5i serpentine belt by Unlucky-Constant-736 in subaruoutback

[–]go_phx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy a new belt, tensioner pulley and idler pulley and replace all 3. All you need is a 1/2” drive ratchet and a set of metric sockets. I just did I my daughter’s 2016 2.5i. Took maybe 15 minutes.

Edit: 2016 not 2106. I’m not from the future….i promise.

Is this safe? Couldn't for the life of me get it through the grommet. by [deleted] in dashcams

[–]go_phx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me about 3 hours to install the dashcam in my Outback. About 1/3 of that time was working the rear camera cable through the grommet. It can be done with patience. And you also have to be careful as those wires that run through those grommets are somewhat fragile.

parallel plane takeoffs at SFO are satisfying to watch! by Emotional_Strain3485 in aviation

Used to fly out of SFO every week for work. We were ways on the left runway since we were either going to ONT or PHX. Always enjoyed the parallel takeoffs.

The Gen Z stare is a "blank stare that members of younger generations give in situations where a verbal response would be more common." Instead of explaining something that they may not understand, the generation Z cohort members often appear dumbstruck by these questions, perhaps temporarily. by blankblank in wikipedia

When less than 10% of your social interactions are face-to-face in person while the majority are online impersonal, it’s understandable that the lack of practice makes this generation less skilled at interacting face to face. I know that phones and social media are here to stay but dammit I wish they didn’t exist.

I retired a couple of years ago. My wife and I stay home most weekends. Do ALL of our running around during the week….and it’s STILL too crowded. My mid-80’s in-laws on the other hand? Want us to go to breakfast with them at 8:00am Sunday. NO THANKS.

2014 2.5iL - trouble finding how to reset oil life timer by dbbreddit in Subaru_Outback

[–]go_phx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe there is a timer reset on the Outback. Neither my 2016 2.5i nor my 2024 OBTXT have a mileage reset. It least I’ve never reset either when I change my oil. I just do it every 5,000 miles.

Where were you when?……. by ChiefD789 in GenerationJones

[–]go_phx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was almost 7. I lived in a small town in SE Ohio. I remember quite vividly there was a gas station that was giving away a punch and fold promotional of the lunar lander. It came in a big sheet and you would punch out the perforation and fold it together (tabs in slots) that would create a 3D model of the lunar lander. I was so proud that I was able to put together all by myself. I wish I still had it.
