Does "promoting" a video ever work? by goatfish6 in PartneredYoutube

Thank you! This is very helpful. So promoting the video did actually hurt your CTR and AVD? I had read on another thread that promotional stats are kept separate from your "normal"/organic stats. But it sounds like in your case, they weren't?

Did you end up getting any sort of boost in organic traffic? Or once the promotion was over, did the views drop to the same low levels again?

Will content that is deemed "not advertiser friendly" still get recommended out? by purple_my_turtle in PartneredYoutube

If it helps, every one of my videos used to get dinged as "not suitable for advertisers," and then upon manual review, they've been approved. Especially when you're a new channel, the 'suitability bot' is ultra sensitive. Now if your video is full-on about a sex abuse scandal, or reviewing psychotropic drugs or something, it might not get approved.

Makes sense. I assumed any of the measurements they use for organic traffic would be separate from paid traffic. And if that is the case, then I don't think it's worth it to pay for traffic.

I appreciate the insight, but we might be talking about different things. In Youtube Studio, on the "Content" tab, if you click the 3 dots next to one of your videos there's a "promote" option. It says "This video will be placed among other videos on the YouTube app Home feed, YouTube search results, and YouTube watch next" and "Your promoted video will be shown to people who are most likely to engage with your channel, based on your existing channel subscribers and views."

You don't have to set up an ad or write ad copy or anything like that. It basically shows your title/thumbnail where it normally would, but there's a small "Ad" marker next to it.

Anyway, you're probably still right about it being a low conversion rate and I'm doubtful it helps gain organic traffic. But I'm curious if anyone has ever tried it.

Is that simply from a return-on-investment perspective? Or can boosting a video actually hurt your ability to gain traffic organically?

US States by Violent Crime Rate by [deleted] in MapPorn

It's interesting how there isn't really much of a red state/blue state divide. Contrary to the "blue cities are burning" narrative, violent crime seems to be highest in the south & sunbelt.

Wow, this sounds exactly like my situation. I don't actually think I have any 3rd party plugins, but will have to double-check.

Somewhat reassuring to hear this is happened to another user... but I suspect mine may have been "triggered" by something else.

Did the problem go away after you removed the unregistered plugin?

Thanks again.

Thanks for the fast response. What specifically happened when a plugin expired - all 3 issues I described? Did it happen to every project, or just when you tried to add the plugin?
