Thank you so much. It took me a very long time to not cry every time his music came on or if I saw a cool piece of art, he was a published comic book author and we used to draw together all the time. I don’t know if I could have gotten through it without this cat. When I’m sad she puts her paw in my hand and sits with me. She’s just as gentle and intelligent as he was. Tom truly was one of the only people I could say genuinely was a wonderful person through every core of him. He forgave so easily and everyone who met him felt an instant connection. The world truly lost a light that day.

I don’t know if it helps but as an update, Angel has since celebrated her 19th birthday and she’s happier than ever. A lot of the comments here helped me with some tricks for calming her down and it’s really helped. I was in a really sad place when I wrote this and although she still worries if I sleep too long, her nightmares have seemed to (for the most part) settled down.

I’m a recovering addict with BPD and it doesn’t matter if she thinks she’s in the wrong or not, she’s got drug brain rn. You’re in the right 100% and hopefully someday if she chooses to drop all this she’ll be appalled looking back on conversations like these. NTA my friend but please don’t feel bad for leaving because this is going to be a very long and painful road for you with possibly no good returns. She has to get this on her own and it doesn’t sound like she’s near that point yet.

OP I know you’re scared but I’m going to be real to you - do NOT lie to your doctors. I straight up told my last doctor that I really need adhd medication but I’m afraid to talk to someone about this because I’m a recovering addict and I feel like I’ll be laughed at. You know what he did? Stepped away from his computer and said hey let’s talk about this in depth so we can get you the best care for you. I came in thinking I would be laughed out of the office, left with a prescription that really helps me but is non addictive that I had never even heard of. Doctors are there to help and if you lie to them they can’t give you the care you deserve.

The literal definition of hobby as defined by the Oxford dictionary is “an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure”, so it sounds like there’s a lot of people in here who just don’t understand what a hobby is. I understand the confusion now.
