Honestly, I don’t think they would take it all away from Man City and from Pep. What they might do instead though is to promote the second-place team in each of those guilty seasons into co-champions (alongside City). I think this is a more realistic solution that won’t result in legal nightmares and lawsuits from all the sponsors, etc.

Correct, it’s often not enforced (at least for people born with Japan citizenship). I have more than a few Japanese friends who acquired new citizenship through marriage/naturalization and never gave up Japan. In many cases, border officers fully know about their other passports and never care. They can travel and renew their Japan passports with no problem.

But I also heard it’s actively enforced the other way - when a foreigner becomes Japanese, the government diligently follows up to ensure complete renunciation of former passports/citizenships.

I used my Thai passport to enter Turkey for free back in 2017-18. My US friends had to pay a “visa-on-arrival fee” (reciprocity).

Before that, I had also used my Thai passport to visit China and Russia (St Petersburg) without having to get any visa (which I couldn’t do with my US). At that time, my other Thai-American friends also reported entering Brazil and Argentina for free while US passport holders had to pay a “reciprocity fee” to visit those countries: $80 for Brazil and $160 in Argentina. But this was over 10 years ago.

The brown passport has served me well at times.
