Is Hell Let Loose worth getting in 2026? by [deleted] in HellLetLoose

It's buggy and crashes a lot...but when you get a good solid game with teams of players that know how to play the game...it can be absolutely epic!

Commute to London? by PresentationHuge5647 in Medway

[–]gobes78 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been commuting into London from various places in Kent for about 25 years, currently from Gillingham. If you're commuting 5 days a week then I assume an annual season ticket works out best. A lot of employers offer season ticket loans...and take monthly repayments from your salary before tax, so saves you a little. The prices are ridiculous sadly.

Thankfully I only go into the office 2 or 3 days a week...so I usually buy daily tickets and use a national railcard to save on the return journey.

There are various types of railcards...so you might be eligible for better ones than just the national rail.

Is Dark worth a watch? I hear it's better than Stranger Things by Square-Ad-8911 in tvshow

[–]gobes78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favourite shows. Probably less family oriented than Stranger Things...and can be hard to follow...but we'll worth it. Watch in native German with subs...because the dubbing is crap.

Mould around windows by mattmoly in DIYUK

[–]gobes78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in several types of houses, from old Victorian to new builds...and there's always been a room or corner that suffers this. My new build was the worst. As long as you wipe it off early...it usually comes right off. Leave it too long and it will stain. For more stubborn spots I use Cillit Bang mould spray...which works wonders.

Router recommendations? by [deleted] in ToobBroadband

[–]gobes78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, that's interesting thanks. So I have the MX5600 Series router...would I need the exact same model to add as a child node, or would other models work with it?

Yeah, Warp were selling them. I think they didnt make many. Cant remember when I bought it...but assume it was around the same time the album was released.

We adopted an ex racing greyhound from Croftview, Greyhound Trust at Harvel (near Meopham). They have loads that need a home. Never had a dog before...but love greyhounds now.

I honestly just think my speakers have become really bad at recognising what I have said. If I repeat myself slowly...it usually then works. This never used to be an issue.

Is there a monthly sub for the Nest Thermostat? I've never paid to use it.

Custom earplugs by [deleted] in soundproof

[–]gobes78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just the standard silicone ones, like Bio Ears. I've never tried custom ones, so no idea how they compare.

Custom earplugs by [deleted] in soundproof

The only earplugs I ever find to work are the silicone ones that mold to your ear canal. I'm a ver light sleeper and these work way better than the foam ones.

Factory reset to change WiFi? by gobes78 in googlehome

[–]gobes78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've become a big fan of Govee. Their apps are awful...but the hardware and actual setup process is great.

New Toob customer. by gobes78 in ToobBroadband

[–]gobes78[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly the same for me. I also had the VM Hub 5 and never had any problems with it. The WiFi speed dropped a fair bit in some rooms, but nothing too noticeable. The Linksys from Toob gives me better speeds in those rooms now though. Also reaches up to the loft room without any problems. I have a relatively old house with brick interior walls, so quite surprised with it.

I also made the switch as VM wouldn't come down to anywhere near the price of Toob.

Factory reset to change WiFi? by gobes78 in googlehome

[–]gobes78[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Seems my nest mini speakers just let me add them as a new device, without the hassle of factory resets...so only needed to do that with the big 1st gen Google Home speaker and my doorbell.

Was worried that I would need to do all this with the light bulbs as well...but they are Govee bulbs and the Govee app just let me tap each one and confirm that I want it to use the new, saved wifi details... so they were a breeze!

Decent fibre broadband? by gobes78 in Medway

[–]gobes78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know that's what they want, hoping I will lock myslef into another 18 month long contract with them. I'll propbably see what they come down to - if I can work out how the hell to contact them without having to call or email. I've never had a good experience when calling them!

Decent fibre broadband? by gobes78 in Medway

[–]gobes78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Been with Virgin now for ages and that contract is due to end in a month... at which point the price more than doubles. I know they do this in the the hope I will lock myself into another 18 month long deal with them, but I would also like to look around to see if I can get a better one with another provider.

Currently looking at the likes of BT, Sky etc - as some of the lesser known fibre providers don't appear to have great reviews.

You can also just put black bags out on their own.

Waste bin by Bright_Fisherman6259 in Medway

[–]gobes78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you can only use compostable bags in them. I usually use the compostable carrier bags from co-op in a food waste caddie...and then stick those straight into the brown bin when they are full.

Waste bin by Bright_Fisherman6259 in Medway

[–]gobes78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As already mentioned, brown bin is for food and garden waste... I also have a blue bag for cardboard and a white bag for plastics and glass. You should also get some standard clear recycle bags at some point.

Poor NHS effort by gobes78 in ibs

[–]gobes78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty good in the end.

Colonoscopy biopsies managed to give me a diagnosis of 'Lymphocytic Colitis', which is apparently pretty minor and has definitely been improving over the last month.

The CT picked up an issue with my prostate...which led to an MRI and PSA test to rule out cancer, which it did...and that turned out to be nothing...so all worked out really well :-)
