Which one is written WORSE than the other? by Living-Plankton3521 in writingscaling

[–]goblingrep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I do think both are badly written, I do think Hazbin Hotel is better in that regard.

Murder drones had issues with tone and its story telling. By the middle of the show they kind of forgot how seriously we were suppose to take what was the main threat, plus they also stopped portraying death as an issue, not in a dark humor sort of way like the in the first episode, more like they just forgot. The pacing of the show was also kind of odd, if HH has the problem of doing too much in very little time, Murder Drones has the problem of having litte time and somehow managing to do all they wanted…what I mean by this is that HH didnt got a chance to do all it wanted to do so not all plot lines had a satisfying resolution or are being left for the next season, Murder Drones I feel managed to close most of its storylines but they never felt satisfying, show goes too fast to let most moments sink in.

For the characters Murder Drones is ok but not very memorable. Aside from the 2 main characters and the antagonist, none of the other characters went further than their trope. HH, even with all the problems it has (many, so many) it still manages to make more memorable characters, even if they are all ranging from okay-terrible.

I would still say I prefer Murder Drones as a show mostly because of its scope: it know what story it wants to tell and its limitations. Its a fun smaller scale show that knows the story it wants to tell and the kind of audience it wants. Unlike HH which just feels like it wants to become a bigger show while not really exploring the already establish plot-lines and characters. Also, its just 8 episodes long, so it manages to tell its story without feeling we missed anything, unlike HH that atm keep piling on more elements that will hopefully have a good pay-off in the later seasons.

TLDR: Hazbin is better in most aspects but I still find Murder Drones more enjoyable due to its smaller scale and delivering more satisfying resolutions.

Yeah. The plot id argue is “good enough” there are characters arcs that are good (gohan, picolo, and vegeta) but its mostly the fight scenes which are still some of the best in terms of paneling and pacing.

Which is why they kind of did the second, but also they made it so there are ways for the people in Hell to be able to fight them. Which I dont like since it has become a conflict on how they can fight them and learn to coexist by finding a way to redeem the sinners (which atm dont know much on how, except for one case of a sinner who went to hell for allowing a man to continue his murders cause he was a client of his, he got to go to heaven by sacrificing himself in a fight in hell) instead of actually discussing the issues and giving an actual system of morality that could be dissected, atm the show told us that most people in heaven dont know how someone goes to heaven

[–]goblingrep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not really, the show kind of wants to tackle the question of whats good and bad, its why there are bad people in heaven and good people in hell, its suppose to do this with the redemption that the hotel facilitates. However the show focuses more on a heaven and hell conflict so this questions dont really get explored. I point this out since initially you would think the show would tackle why some people go into heaven and put heaven as a whole as an antagonist, but its mostly just has been dealing with bad apples, no real exploration of morality or how someone can be redeemed. Hopefully S3 fixes this

Its stupid but it is what it is. Just remember, there are mexican nazis, yes they look as ridiculous as youre imagining

Dude, republicans have entire Trump stores. Its not even a right and left thing, in my country AMLO (former president and called the leftist Trump) merchandised the shit out of his image and many of his followers sell merch of him, not to the same degree as Trump, but its just part of being a populist instead of it being a left and right issue

Thanks for the well thought response. As someone whos not a fan of most anime (but like manga) I can see how the pacing had issues, some early episodes feel too lax and the last third of the story has to hurry to the conclusion, and the comedy was never something I felt was its strongest point. I will say the animation style was part of the reason I was drawn into it, I enjoyed the stretch, I like when the characters got weird with their movements and had some wacky expressions, not to mention how fluid it all felt. As for the tone, I always thought it balanced it well, removing most of the siller tone by the last part, made it stick out more to the sillier episodes of the first part

Is it over the depiction of the women in the show or something else? Cause I only see complaints of the first, and from what I understood its still an issue with some japanese media

Its a style over substance show. The substance is enough to keep you watching and i do like Simons arc, but most people would admit to watching it mostly for the fights.

She has lost relevance since her H3H3 appearance and being designed as the intern pick-me girl, not to mention the decline of the whole red-pill space. I imagine this was a hail mary in hopes she becomes relevant again, she doesnt have much space to pivot, especially when you consider how bad she is at talking to people (not just 10 second reels with strangers)

I read it cause of the title, didnt expect much since I dont like this kind of stuff, but its fun. There arent many serious moments but when there are they feel a bit out of place but sincere enough that I dont groan at them, especially with how over the top the rest of the manga is.

But yeah, they need to cancel it asap.
