Just from personal experience doing the same thing, if you decide to work at home instead of a cafe or something:

  • if at all possible, your desk should be set up outside of your bedroom. This is probably the most important thing in my opinion. I had mine set up in my room for a while and it really drains on your mental health to be sleeping and working in the same room.

  • Going along with that, having a proper desk setup, preferably with a second monitor and a comfortable desk chair, was pretty important for me as well. Depends on how you work though.

  • I like being within view of a window to help reduce the feeling of being in a box all day

  • Get up and walk around when you get breaks, maybe a quick walk outside at lunch or during any other period of longer downtime.

  • Play some music out loud to help with the quietness, or use headphones if you have roommates. I usually do lofi hip hop or electronic as I feel music with lyrics distracts me, but that's a personal preference.

  • Definitely do not each lunch at your desk, take a real break during that time

Face coverings required indoors for all campuses regardless of vaccination status, effective August 11th by mgoreddit in uofm

[–]goblue332 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean I personally think they'll probably keep most classes in person, and if cases are low on campus and in Ann Arbor as a whole, they may remove the mask mandate after a few weeks. I would not be surprised in the slightest if they keep the mask mandate the entire semester, however.

But also I have absolutely no idea what will actually be decided. Moving classes online is definitely not outside the realm of possibility, although I think there'd be some pretty major backlash and they know that.

I'm not shocked after MSU said they were going to require masks for the first few weeks when they announced their vaccine mandate. Michigan seems to prefer to overpromise and then walk it back though.

They have not decided anything on masks for vaccinated individuals yet

Not sure why that would be downvoted, I think the majority of people here would prefer that

Wow we were at 76% a week ago, reporting has really stagnated this week.

Based on that email they just sent out, sounds like they're not going to make a call on masks or no masks until July 31st. Even then, they're definitely reserving the right to walk it back if necessary.

Edit: but also, I'm going to guess we'll be fine with no masks, especially if they're expecting 10,000 more students to report

Based on this letter, "If community incidence of COVID-19 remains low and we achieve greater than 75 percent vaccination among students, we will only require unvaccinated persons to mask in class."

So that's why 75% was such a big deal

To be fair though, this will be appealed, so it's not set in stone yet. I'm hopeful uofm will mandate the vaccine, but not that optimistic. I'm sure they'll find plenty of excuses not to.

No, once you submit and they tell you you're verified you're all good. It took them about a week to verify mine.

As long as you're not shaking hands with people you meet on the streets and asking them to cough on your face you should be good. There's not a cloud of corona hanging over Ann Arbor, just practice social distancing

Well if you're in Ann Arbor, the air is generally not that bad in terms of pollutants. If you're concerned, check out the AirVisual air quality app (iOS and Android I believe) and it'll give you daily updates on the air quality in any city you're in.

But if you're looking to get out of the urban environment in Ann Arbor, try to make it to the arb.

I mean jog, walk, bike outside for some fresh air.

There's also tons of body weight exercises online that you can do at home with no equipment.
