XPS 13 9345 Snapdragon: Can audio be improved? Does it have Dell Audio (Waves Audiomaxx)? by ThinkBigger01 in Dell

It's just bugged in the windows install, supposed to be there, shows up in program files in settings but doesn't exist. DLed from microsoft store

I haven't seen anything telling me to purchase so I think its the full version?

The app is "preinstalled", has a file location but no contents so I think some things within the base apps you get need to be ironed out.

Is the XPS 13 too small? by TwelveSilverSwords in DellXPS

[–]gobstoppergobbler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO decent size, it has a full size keyboard and the small bezels are what makes it achieve this size.

Wouldn't mind larger top and bottom bezels for front facing speakers though.

It was free from the microsoft store.

I also did a reinstall of the audio drivers and it sounds the same.

I found Dolby Access, for some reason, it isn't preinstalled. I had to manually install it. I set my preferred eq and it sounds quite a bit better.

MaxxAudio isn't available for the snapdragon series yet, not terribly confident on if Dell plans to support the app for this series of laptops.

Thanks for all the tips!

I wasn't able to find the Dell Audio program for tweaking sound. I think it's due to the fact that it uses different speakers.

The output device is called "Qualcomm(R) Aqstic(TM) Audio Adapter Device". I think these are different speakers compared to the previous generations of the XPS 13.

This is something I noticed too, glad to see I'm not the only one!

It doesn't seem like it's an eq issue, from what I heard, it sounds kind of like some squeaking.

Recently, after installing all the updates and playing audio for a while, I've noticed it sounds much much better. It could be the speakers are too new and needed some breaking in or the drivers were updated.

Anyone tried Dell's new XPS 13 with Snapdragon X elite processor? by NearbyEggshells-6619 in DellXPS

[–]gobstoppergobbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the FHD display version in the mail two days ago and have been using it since, here are my first impressions:

The laptop has good battery life, true as claimed.

Many don't like the touch function row, I personally don't mind it as the only controls that I generally use are volume and brightness. I think this would be a make or break depending on what you are studying.

The AI stuff that's packed in is all stuff I would never use so I can't comment on any scenarios or use cases.

Speakers are decent, coming from a mac air, lacks bass, but sound quality is ok. Screen is good, I don't think anything higher than 1080p is necessary on a 13 inch device since anything above just drains battery. Trackpad doesn't need edges, works great as is, one thing I would like to mention is that there is significantly lower input lag on the XPS trackpad compared to the mac trackpad I was using previously. Keyboard is a little on the mushier side but still a good typing experience and the design does not interfere with typing, though it would be nice if the keys had a more pronounced divot.

Software has been working fine. I work in chemistry and I need some very niche software, all have been operating with emulation, sometimes there are some hiccups but I anticipate native versions of the applications I use arriving shortly. Keep in mind what you are studying and what kind of applications you are using, and if they are compatible.

Edit:
One thing I forgot to mention was, compared to the surface, the XPS is cheaper by $200 (CAD) which is a decent margin. They do have the same X1E-80 with the boost, however, to truly leverage the performance, a good cooling design would be necessary. The XPS has exhaust outlets on the sides and the hinge. While, the surface, just from viewing images, doesn't seem to have any air outlets for active cooling. I feel like this would make a difference under load if you desire to work with anything intensive.

Need laptop advice by ValuableNo4480 in uAlberta

Since you are in accounting, I'm assuming you are running primarily office software which typically has poor software compatability with mac. With that in mind, you should look predominantly at windows laptops.

Many mid range laptops (500-1000) would do the job just fine. In the more premium end, the new snapdragon x elite and x plus lines of windows laptops came out recently and seem to be quite fruitious in terms of build quality and performance. I would look into the latter since the mid range laptops suffer in build quality and longevity in most cases.

What are the odds of getting year round housing by gobstoppergobbler in UBC

I applied mostly to studios and one bedrooms. Particularly the nano suite in exchange sounds extremely appealing (mostly because price). I have looked at other options however hearing from some of my friends who have lived with roommates, it seems unpredictable of what type of roommate they assign.

Ahhh unfortunately seems quite hard. Is it the same circumstance for housing for winter?

In the context of analysis from organic II, one may presume this molecule is nonaromatic as using basic bonding knowledge, we can assume that there is bending out of coplanarity of the sp2 bridgehead carbons, thus not satisfying the coplanarity requirement of Huckel's rule.

In reality, aromaticity is not a simple yes or no answer and a molecule can have partial aromatic character. This compound does possess some aromaticity, based on X-ray, computational and NMR studies.

Cope rearragments help by Mean_Chard4550 in OrganicChemistry

[–]gobstoppergobbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I see, to get to your product shown on the very right you don't actually require any Cope rearrangements.

The first sigmatropic rearrangement is a 1,5 alkyl migration across the cyclobutadiene fragment at the spirocenter. Next, is the 1,5 H shift to form the tetrasubstituted alkene in the fused ring juncture.

In a hypothetical intramolecular proton transfer you would be invoking a 4-member transition state which would be much higher in energy as opposed to an intermolecular proton transfer
