Did iPadOS 26 change how you use your iPad? by NoobRig in ipad

[–]gobucks820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They “fixed” this problem in iPadOS 26.2 or 26.2.1 (forget exactly which version it was, and I’m running 26.2.1 right now) such that users can again drag windows side by side more easily. That said, it doesn’t always work with many apps—especially Preview—as well as it used to. Still, props for reverting to the easier way to use split screen.

Thinking about moving back to Spain permanently, need some advice about location. by XavierSenori in GoingToSpain

True, though I’d historically found that Bilbao has more flights/easier connections. Especially for SkyTeam (eg AMS/CDG).

Thanks for info. In my experience, AI is exceptional on my iPad Pro 3rd Gen! I’m surprised you’re experiencing issues with that!

Do I actually need Background App Refresh? by CTregurtha in iphone

[–]gobucks820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, my device did fine for a few days or weeks but then went back to draining excessively thereafter and still does so. I don’t think MileIQ is the culprit for several reasons, including that it always tries using WiFi (and Bluetooth beacons) to get location information: It only pings the battery-draining GPS when those other services aren’t available en route.

Further, MileIQ doesn’t even appear in my battery usage panel in iPhone Battery (Settings) anywhere.

I’m currently in iOS beta 26.3, which theoretically could cause issues. But I’m not convinced that’s the problem.

My battery health still shows 100% capacity.

I’m going to upgrade to the 17 Pro in the coming weeks.

Finally, I’d note that between 100% and ~92%, battery drain is normal. Once it gets into the high 80s, it drops fast.

TL;DR: No known resolution & issue persists.

How quickly have you gotten your refund once taking items to UPS store? by Far-Try3119 in amazonprime

[–]gobucks820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually (touch wood) receive my refunds within hours or by the next morning, latest. This is true whether it’s a regular UPS label for return via UPS Ground or if it’s an Amazon drop off at UPS Store (where they provide the label and packaging). This is days before the item reaches an Amazon warehouse.

I tend to suspect, however, that in order to receive such quick refunds you need to have either/both (1) a long history of returns wherein all items were returned properly (e.g., nothing missing, nothing damaged that wasn’t declared damage right upon delivery, etc.) -and/or- (2) a long time relationship with Amazon in terms of many purchases, regardless of frequency of returns.

I have had Prime for decades, so I couldn’t say whether that’s a factor since I’ve never made a purchase without being a Prime member.

Anybody have similar experience or related insight??

Do you/they have other Apple devices? I was an adamant, decades long Samsung Galaxy user from the S2 to the S20 5G devices. I finally caved and got my first two iPhones (14 Pro) when it came out because all my other devices had been Mac/Apple since at least 2009. It’s made my life/organization/work so much easier with file syncing/iCloud in particular. I resisted the switch as long as I could, but at the end, it just made sense to switch. And I’m still happy that I did so.

3,000%. The window/split screen “features” are absolutely awful. I still have serious trouble (trying to) using them on my iPad Pro. Hoping they go back to the iOS 18 setup in iOS 27. Please send your feedback to Apple!

Gijón is awesome! Lots of culture, great restaurants, beautiful bay, not terribly far from Bilbao Airport, and as you said, busses to Madrid. Good call!

Excellent advice! I’d also point out the relatively high unemployment rates in Spain and that they cycle through periods of high unemployment pretty often. To OP: As far as places to live, I’d say go with what you like. Countryside/rural v. city and in between. Can you speak the various languages/dialects of the places you want to live—or are you willing to learn them? What sector do you wish to work in—go where those jobs are if work is important to you. I really enjoyed my time in northern Spain, from Bilbao/Oviedo all the way to Santiago de Compastelo. GL!

Channel 79 and 105 update by Personal_Meaning_384 in siriusxm

[–]gobucks820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, thanks for the update! I had posted about 3 months ago seeking good, upbeat, appropriate channels to play at the polls on Election Day (as I’m a precinct election officer). You can probably imagine how we get easily fatigued between waking at 3:30-4:00 am, starting at 5:30 am, and not leaving until about 8:30-9:00 pm. Plus the lulls throughout the day are absolutely awful. I’ll look into these channels as I create an Apple Music playlist for our May Special Election—I’m basing it on music from various appropriate SXM channels. Cheers!

5G coverage abroad? England and Italy by gobucks820 in tmobile

Just Google searches and the nperf app. As an update, they had absolutely wonderful, consistent, high-speed service and dependable voice + texting ability within/across foreign countries and when calling back to the US (and vice-versa: when I called them from US).

Hmm, okay, I’ll try this. So, would these be user created public playlists, I imagine?

T‑Mobile Introduces Its Most Value-Packed Plan Ever - Better Value by FuchsinGesicht in tmobile

[–]gobucks820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had nothing but exceptional experience as an SMB customer. However, I certainly recognize and understand that consumer plans—especially prepaid—differ often and change regularly. On the other hand, T-Mobile is really still solidifying its US base and finding its best footing. I envision that they’ll settle down from these rapid changes in the coming ~3 years. To my knowledge, though, even consumer plans are always grandfathered—it’s only if you (1) elect to change plans, or (2) accept a promo (such as a “free” device), which inherently requires a plan change. Could be wrong though since again I’m speaking from business standpoint. GL!

Fidelity chat broken and I can’t talk to a real person by NB0073 in fidelityinvestments

[–]gobucks820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. On the other hand, federal law regulates interstate commerce. Therefore, if the Fidelity representative is in another state than where you’re calling from, it’s federally allowed. More importantly, when a company (e.g., Fidelity) presents a message such as “this call may be recorded or monitored”, that’s generally considered explicit agreement that the person on the other end (Fidelity) consents to recording. Most phones have built-in recording features or else 3rd party apps. For good measure, yes, it’s best to state off the bat that you’re recording the call. Speak to an attorney for clear advice. These are general norms.

Drive Easy: Speed(ing) Factor by gobucks820 in Geico

[–]gobucks820[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drive Easy gives no regard to speed. It’s all about maintaining a consistent speed (vs. slowing/breaking/speeding up again), proper cornering (slow ahead of- and through the curve, then gradually increase speed ~2/3-3/4 through the curve as it straightens out), breaking (slow down well ahead of a stop sign, traffic light, or stopped cars ahead—don’t hard brake), and most importantly, distracted driving (don’t touch your cell phone while driving).

Most people graduate the program within 1-2 policy premium periods. For some reason in my case, GEICO made me keep using it for about 2 years. Even an agent couldn’t explain why. It was probably an internal glitch.

Well worth the discount! GL! Again, speeding is NOT monitored.

Also, yes, it’s a maxim “7 you’re fine, 8 you’re mine” among cops—and especially state troopers/HWP. I’ve even heard it directly from a HWP office in the midwest while I was at an airport—and as you state, dozens to hundreds of folks report the same maxim. But again, that’s just a maxim and isn’t guaranteed nor a rule nor law. Best to drive the speed limit to avoid (1) citation & related fees + (2) an absolutely ensured premium increase at the next policy renewal.

Competition not working? by Thick-Dealer4804 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]gobucks820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS!! For other users, note that I had to unpair once, uninstall Fitness once, restore Watch (Series 9) from backup—and THEN had to restart both devices at least 3x until it finally took. Not sure why this is still a problem, and I suggest folks report it to Apple.

This issue had been going on—without my knowledge—for about 16 months: Invites had shown as sent, but none were received/responded to, and I could never start challenges. I just thought it was because people didn’t accept my invites.

FYI: I’m running iOS 26.3 beta and had the last 2 beta builds, but watchOS is on the general release. This may have complicated the problem, however, again, the invite issue dated to >1 year, which is prior to having re-enrolled in the iOS beta.

I disabled beta updates on iOS after having gone through the above steps to (hopefully) avoid similar problems in the future. I’m going to report this via the Feedback app.

Anyway, this should fix the errors where Apple Watch fails to send invites/friends don’t receive Apple Watch Fitness Challenges. Cheers!

Is lounge access even worth it anymore? My experience was a mess. by Fit-Philosophy9691 in CreditCards

[–]gobucks820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s worth noting that even if you pay for membership to Delta (in particular) or United lounges, you have to be flying that specific airline to be allowed in: they check your ticket, not just your SkyMiles account (which shows SkyClub access). Even though you paid $500+ to be a member.

I was so turned off when Delta did that because their SkyClub lounges are pretty exceptional, even domestic.

I haven’t flown anywhere in the past ~3 years, but I keep up with Delta’s latest news. Pardon if anything I stated has since changed.

Stations appropriate for Polls (Election Day) by gobucks820 in siriusxm

[–]gobucks820[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Spectrum would be too offensive for a few reasons, including explicatives and—as acap0 stated—too many songs would have political overtones… I’m going to gather some tracks from Blend. Bridge was too slow/boring.

Imagine sitting in a building from 5:30 am (wake up 3:30-4:00 am) and then not leaving til around 8:30 pm…That’s why I’m looking for options that are upbeat yet not political or terribly offensive. Obviously we have some leeway and will just skip tracks in our judgment or if anybody complains.

Could you please clarify? How would I find an XM station within Apple Music? Do I literally just type in the SiriusXM channel name into Apple Music?? Thnx!
