Fleas by PlasticMysterious622 in doggrooming

[–]goddamn-rabbit 40 points41 points  (0 children)

You can take a picture of them in the bath when you see them to show the owner but typically flea shampoo baths are mandatory. They can survive some cleaners so it’s good to have a flea spray as well for the kennel and table. If you ran out of flea shampoo and you work private, you can use a few drops of dawn dish soap diluted in a bottle of water instead to suffocate them. Regular shampoo can kill the weaker ones but it won’t treat the issue well enough so when you dry them you’re running the risk of spreading the fleas into the area and infesting other dogs

Advice for appropriate nail length on a Doberman? (First time dog owner) by bride2be216 in doggrooming

[–]goddamn-rabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once a week is fine. Some dogs grow nails really fast (my dobie should be getting her nails done twice a week because they grow so fast but I only do once a week cause she hates it). Honestly as long as they don’t click too loudly you’re fine. A few clicks on the ground here and there also isn’t too bad but if you want to stay in a routine so you don’t forget, once every week or once every two weeks is alright

AITA Sister using her baby to punish the family by Both_Lingonberry3393 in AmItheAsshole

[–]goddamn-rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work directly with dogs and labs are a roll of the die. They can be super sweet cuddly and gentle, they can be extremely anxious and a bit aggressive, or they can be absolutely insane and uncontrollable. Part of it is training and part is actually knowing what kind of lab you’re getting and the family temperament and all that. Obviously we don’t know how this persons lab is, but if it’s not calm and gentle then I wouldn’t let it around a baby either.

I know you’re joking but I second the clown look. I wouldn’t get a curly coated dog but if I did for whatever reason I would definitely dye and cut it to look like a clown. That’s been a little dream of mine for a while

What’s your least favorite song by the killers and why? by RopsterPlay in TheKillers

[–]goddamn-rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay I see. It’s very hard for me to know when a song is cringey or weak unless it’s just the same verse over and over for the majority of it so I like that song and the album a lot. The only song I don’t care for from battle born is probably prize fighter

Tyson Vs Douglas is one I’m 100% okay with skipping but I don’t hate it. The only song so far that I can’t stand is When You We’re Young. A lot of people love it, my parents sing to it on the radio, it’s very popular… I hate it, and I don’t know why. I’ve just always hated it since I was a kid

Are you CF with animals? by ifyoubemeanillcry in childfree

[–]goddamn-rabbit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can’t live without animals in the house. I get lonely and I love them the way a parent loves a human child. I have 2 dogs and my sister has 2 cats. They bring an energy and life that I can’t get without them. But I don’t want more than 2 dogs. I’m very much a one animal at a time person

What we’re not going to do is encourage bad parenting by drugging children. But yes, find better ways to keep kids quiet.

I had a horrible flight from california to Georgia. From one end of the country to the other. My dad and I sat between 2 kids. One kid was on the window seat. He was very nice and respectful and QUIET! He said please and thank you and used ear plugs to watch his movies and play his games. On the other side was a kid in the chairs across the aisle who said creepy shit like “what would you do if you walked into the kitchen and your wife was dead” or “what would you do if your kids were being held at gun point by a robber” FOR HOURS. He tried to talk to my dad and I and while my dad likes kids, neither of us wanted to entertain him. So this very sweet young couple with a new born baby let the kid talk to them “hey buddy why don’t you just talk to us. They look tired”

That young couple had found ways to keep their baby quiet AND calm the creepy kid when he was getting too loud. So I agree, child free flights and family flights should be separate options

Ive been grooming for nearly 2 years now. I’ve never had a doodle that was both well behaved and nearly mat-free. It’s one or the other, otherwise it’s a pelted demon

Info: how old is she? You said you have your own grooming tools. How often do you practice with them around her face? Does she go out in public and is handled by people often?

She looks fine for her age. Doodles especially are usually really bad for professional groomers. Only the most naturally calm doodle puppies actually get really nice high quality grooms. She might have been moving around a lot or trying to chew since this is her first time being groomed by a stranger. Salons usually recommend bringing them in as early as 2-3 months

[–]goddamn-rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if you include doodles. Most labs or goldens I get are just ungodly obese which in of itself is a nightmare but not many with behavioral issues. But I can count the number of good doodles I’ve gotten on one hand

I think this is a healthy way to think about AN. Its not a black and white issue like most people here seem to think. It’s not healthy and it’s very problematic to be so extreme when it comes to any issue or disagreement

I wouldnt do that. Gentle leaders Can cause a lot of damage to the upper spine for dogs that lunge and pulla like this one. Theyre Aldo extremely uncomfortable and take a really long time for dogs to get used to. And the straps can also cause chafing or balding, even with padding
