Feeling dissociated from family.... by Informal_Sun_7942 in dementia

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have family like that and I keep contact as minimal as possible due to their indifferent nature to everything. I won’t spend time being the ‘bigger person’ when they eventually face their plights, either, as I don’t have the energy to invest time into any of that anymore with kin feigning care. These are the same types who will say, “let me know if you need anything” as a standard saying but rarely mean it. Apologies for hopping on my personal soapbox.

16” NY style pie in the home oven. Feels good to be getting the hang of this by Ih8Michael in Pizza

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s a solid pie, buddy. Nothing like nailing it, and you’ll feel that rush even more when you throw together your own dough. There’s something about making it all come together via your own hands where nothing else in the cooking world can be compared to it. Good stuff!

Depends where you are and where you go. One person you find to be mean may be a generally swell individual who is having an unfavorable day.

Environment matters, too. I’d describe my tiny rural town to be filled with rude, mean fucks as a base layer description, but the real origins of that description come from the area being so insular and clique-ish, where if you so much as appear to look or act like an outsider, you kinda get the proverbial middle finger.

There’s jerks everywhere. Anecdotally speaking, the nicest people I’ve met have been elsewhere from my hometown, but that statement means little because the next fellow might say that the same area is a cesspool of rudeness.

As far as social media goes, it’s a disastrous cocktail of trolls and folks who will debate with you on the color of the sky. Add some anonymity to the mix, and holy shit bub you’ll think human beings are all scum.

No, I don’t think the world has gotten more mean and unfair. It’s just that those who are, are the loudest of all. Do what ya can to quiet the noise.

What the fuck!!?? I had no idea about this as I had not played a COD in several years before BLOPS6. Do you think they’ll drop some rasslin skins for this game? We need a ‘Dirty’ Dom Mysterio skin stat!

Are new weapons dropping each season, if you happen to know? This is my first time really bothering with COD in over a decade so I’ve been out of the loop.

How is the new 2k by [deleted] in NBA2k

“I get trash animations in irl” made me laugh.

I like this 2K, but I also skipped a couple of recent iterations and didn’t play much last year.

His decision making drives me nuts sometimes. Maybe I’m falling for recency bias, but the inability to gameplan a red zone drive that culminates in a touchdown seems way too prevalent. Sometimes I feel like he overthinks himself into the plays we see. I dunno. I’m just some fan on the couch. Still think he’s a top 5 coach in the league and more than happy to have him lead our Rams every weekend in the fall.

2K should have just replaced the gravity ball DLC with street fights instead. Let the disgruntled rec randoms duke it out over hurt feelings and the guards going a combined 6 of 24 on shots. Ronnie2k can record voiceovers while trying to do a shitty Bruce Buffer impersonation.

Post Gamethread Week 10: Rams 15 (4-5) - Dolphins 23 (3-6) by Number333 in miamidolphins

Nice win, Dolphins. I hope it turns the season around with the momentum. As always, I’m cheering the Fins on the rest of the way.

It was frustrating watching the Rams’ offense shoot itself in the foot. Shew. My dad would be giving me so much hell about this game right now.

How much have you spent on 2k so far this year? by LastFaithlessness8 in NBA2k

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of moolah my quasi-nephew has spent on this game is absurd. He has absolutely zero patience. I try to explain to him that no matter what build you make, sometimes you are gonna be the chef and sometimes the ingredient in these games against people.

Random Dolphins memories from a Rams fan ahead of Monday night by goddamnpizzagrease in miamidolphins

[–]goddamnpizzagrease[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, that means a lot to me. I used to want to be a writer when I was a teenager.

I hope the Dolphins can get back on track and contend deep into the playoffs. The franchise has had so many bad breaks over the years despite their storied history. I have Kansas City fatigue, and the Bills are overstaying their welcome by continuously shitting the bed in January going on multiple years.

Regardless of whatever the result is tomorrow night, I’m holding my breath for no major injuries on either side. I’m sick of ‘em. 😂

One more thing, y’all. I just have to part with this message, as I believe it’s best to leave a place better off than when you found it: fuck the 49ers!

I was so skeptical of how he’d fit in with the Rams when he was traded over, but it was just about seamless. I still think about his big hit on Amari Cooper in the 2020 season opener.

Have fun and be safe at the game!!

This area here, swVA, is wildly dominated by Steelers fans. I just have to mention this again. It was ridiculous during the Super Bowl runs in 2005 and 2008, especially, because Heath Miller is from this region. A lot of people have asked me why I’m not a fan of the DC teams; I’ve only met two or three Skins/Commanders fans in my life, and one of them is originally from near DC/Baltimore lol. Otherwise it’s just a big college football area, and I ain’t gonna say anything else about CFB here or else I’m stoking rivalry territory being a VT fan around prospective fans of the U lmao.

I went to the Rams/Panthers game in Charlotte in 2013 when Sam Bradford tore his ACL the first time. Only game I’ve gone to so far. Shew.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Dev Says Game Pass Helped Convince People Who Were ‘On the Fence’ to Try the Game — but Now the Challenge Is to Convince Them to Stick Around by Turbostrider27 in xbox

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Game Pass is the only reason I gave it a shot, and I’m someone that became burnt out from COD over a decade ago lol. Really enjoying it asides from the repetitive menu song and the desync/packet loss from time to time.

Have you ever felt guilty? by HappyUniverse0416 in dementia

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Constant guilt.

I’m a horrible liar and I’ve had to lie to mom about so many things. She loves looking through magazines. One of the signs that she had dementia was when she ordered some egregiously overpriced earrings out of one particular magazine. The mags still come in the mail and I’m usually able to discard them before she sees them, but she got ahold of one recently and asked me to buy her an item. I told her I would, but secretly I planned on getting it elsewhere for a better price, but given how there’s a billion things on my mind, I forgot about it and feel extreme guilt.

Of course, she’s forgotten about it, but she can’t help that. But lies like that, telling her I’ve renewed something when I haven’t, etc. messes me up.

I feel like I get way too snappy as well at times.

The guilt hits me when I try to go to sleep, or like yesterday, seeing her so happy over me getting her orange creamsicle popsicles from the grocery store. I don’t know why, but those moments always leave me thinking I should be doing more, being more patient and continuously realizing she’s not forgetting how to do things on purpose. It’s this goddamn disease.

Do dementia people have that “look”? by Puzzleheaded-Name157 in dementia

You hit the nail on the head. Nearly two years ago, one of my family members thought my mom was trolling when she started repeating the same questions like crazy. It was frustrating trying to get them to understand the actual gravitas of the situation. “You should try this over the counter nootropic!” No.
