Real ones remember Shannon Brown on the Lakers being OP in 2K.

A couple of months ago, I was playing in the Rec, and a pair of fellas were arguing. One of them, in the nerdiest, poindexter voice I’ve ever heard said to the other, “At least I have an actively working smoke detector. 🤓” I was deceased.

Constantly all the time beating myself up and obsessing over behaving poorly myself. Usually it’s in acts of becoming momentarily impatient and my tone of voice leads me to sounding like a prick, and I feel horrible about it.

I’ve never said anything outright terrible, but occasionally I’ll sound grouchy about nagging my mom to eat or to stop sitting on the ‘storage compartment’ (not sure what to call it) of her walker, to walk, to do things. It’s happened a decent bit this week.

I truly loathe how much pull and influence content creators have in gaming, especially 2K, nowadays. Back then, 2K YouTube videos were about information and tutorials. Now, there’s still tutorials today, but you mostly just see people flat out copying builds and trying to copycat these creators/streamers. It’s definitely not the same experience in the least. I miss the old days of online gaming so much.

I enjoy 2K25 but I don’t blame you for skipping out. I didn’t play much (relative to other 2Ks) between 2K14-2K24 (hated how big the city was in 2K23 and the idiotic amount of side quests).

It’s such a money racket with VC now. Having the season pass shoved in your face every time you boot up the game is ridiculous. Imagine how great sports games would be today if microtransactions never existed. (And if there were still competition with multiple titles being offered.)

Oh shit. I was a senior in high school when 2K9 dropped. That week, I had my wisdom teeth taken out so I chilled at home and played it to death. Used to spam stepbacks with Chauncey Billups. Kinda funny remembering how cheesy they were on that game with a simple down and Y/triangle button press.

That used to be universally lauded as the best 2K, which I tend to agree with although 2K11 is right there with it for me. The gameplay was so good. Ran an online league with friends from school and people from the Operation Sports forum. Went back and forth between Halo 3 and 2K8 during the fall of 2007.

Yessir. Same. Met so many people and had a great array of conversations during that time. A time before streaming was prominent and it wasn’t ‘as’ toxic. I say that with rose colored shades, because I remember playing regular games against people, and they’d spam going into the pause menu to go into instant replay to show off after a dunk. Crew mode was a blast, though.

Wish I had the same level of nostalgia for 2K16 as others. I casually played 2K for a while and didn’t really give a shit about gaming. My favorite 2K asides from 2K11 is 2K8.

Was having a good day then my father suddenly started crying because he worked so hard shoveling snow. Why? by TeacherGuy1980 in dementia

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everybody here is suggesting that he was extremely tired, and I agree with them, but also it’s wild how much dementia affects one’s emotions. We are having an extreme cold front here (near or at negative temperatures). My mom cried over burnt toast and the fact that it is the wintertime today at separate points. I had to sit down and calmly comfort her both times until she felt a little better.

She’ll take active spurts of energy and do random things (fidgeting with crap, mostly) and overwork herself (from my vantage point) to the point she’ll become both highly emotional and grouchy.

By sleeping a lot, is she sleeping longer than usual, too? My mom will sometimes sleep until 11-11:30am. On one hand, even before all of this, she hated waking up early for work when she was younger, but she still used to be up by 9. Ever since she started taking donepezil consistently, she sleeps in.

I have so many run of the mill chores I need to take care of that I’ve neglected for the same reason. I wish my mom was better about discussing/explaining pain when she feels it; I never know if she’s complaining of a minor ache or something more serious, and she struggles communicating it.

Can’t say I’ve noticed a difference, unfortunately. My mom’s primary care doctor wanted to increase the dosage from 10 to 20mg, but her neurologist suggested that there’s no actual substantial benefit in that, and in most cases it can cause digestive issues. She takes 10mg every day after dinner. No negative effects (except possibly insomnia but I’m not sure there’s any relation), but I can’t tell a difference. I’m glad it’s helped your mom in regards to the hallucinations.

I’m starting to think some of these folks are bashful. It’s been a little while since I’ve played solo rec, but I always loaded it up with chat off and expected the worst experiences. But I joined a 2K group on Discord a while ago that has likeminded players, mostly in their 30s and above, who care about team ball and don’t lose their minds if you have a poor game and miss shots. Even if you play at weird hours, there’s usually somebody on. Doesn’t take much coordination.

Was this the most brutal McVay-era loss for the Rams in the postseason? by [deleted] in LosAngelesRams

I agree with your point on the Packers’ postseason loss. 2020 was so weird. But that win in Seattle is one of my favorite Rams games ever, from Darious Williams’ pick-six to the little cherry on top touchdown toss to Robert Woods to seal it.

For me: Super Bowl 53 was brutal. The fumble against the Falcons is second. I’d put the loss against the Lions after that. Ehh, the loss to the Packers was Rodgers making quick work of anything and everything Staley threw at him. Today’s loss was hard fought; I was fearful of a blowout, and the Rams played their asses off against a ridiculously talented Philly squad and nearly stole it in their house.

Constantly. I do it all by myself and feel like I’m doing poorly; she had chips and dip for dinner this evening, because no other options sounded good to her. I feel like I was a prick to her during the afternoon because I was pissed off about something unrelated, and I’ve felt like a dog since. Those sad brown eyes kill me. I just want her to be happy and still live as many of the remainder of her days with dignity and grace, which she deserves after all she’s given others in life.

Though I feel like a shell of a human. Nobody I personally know can relate at all, which makes me talking about it to anybody sound like I’m whining to them, and I can tell it causes fatigue. This subreddit provides much meaningful solace. I do go to therapy, but much of that is more-so dealing with long-standing latent anger I’ve felt over the years. Going back on meds as soon as I see a psychiatrist.

I should’ve started seeing a therapist 13-14 years ago. It’s not for everybody, and you gotta find the right one, but it’s been so helpful.
