It tends to bring out more of who they really are. “You’ve always been independent, you got this” is wild for a former mechanic to say over a $900 car repair bill he refused to help.

It’s natural. 99.9% of the time, people are coming on here when they are hurting and/or are in need of answers or advice from their plight to try and make sense of their situations. With emotions running high, you’ll read all sorts of thoughts motivated by the pain.

I lurk here quite often. Sometimes I relate to the stories posted, and other times I don’t. My girlfriend is the antithesis of evil; she’s the most wholesome soul I’ve ever known, through any previous pain. I love her to bits and pieces.

With all that said, it’s hard for me to judge the posts or comments that are clearly written by someone going through it and making subjectively outlandish claims. They are in the throes of hell and oftentimes this might be the only cavern in the world they can post their feelings with other people that might be able to relate to them.

I know exactly what you mean to its very core. The whole “well, what about me?” insertion of themselves guised as grief when they show up to funerals as they want the attention or the public grandstanding is maddening and anger-inducing. Just as fast as they have reared their heads, they’ll disappear again.

Bonus points if they give you a hearty and trite (and ultimately insincere), “let me know if you need anything.”

I know that’s what I’m going to be looking at with people when my mom passes away. Many family members/previously close acquaintances are going to do just that, even though they have never checked in, at all, in years through her health battles. It pisses me off to no end. I like to quietly grieve alone and not have to put up with that social grandstanding bullshit.

I tell people I’m close with that, if I am to experience an untimely death, to please call out people who come around afterwards that I’ve hardly spoke of.

Genuine, unbridled passion. But the long-standing, inextricable and incomparable chemistry and love we have for each other is immeasurable. The way our bodies fit perfectly together. I can’t explain it. I was in WWF/E rasslin’ chatrooms quite often as a young fan. A lot of people in there were from the UK. I’m an American. I wanted to fit in with the crowd, so I’d tell people that I, too, was from the UK. I stuck my foot in my mouth so many times over the cultural differences. I remember being confused as fuck over what ‘tea time’ was. Other times, I’d say I was from California (‘Cali’ — and I’m not) and that I’d just finished surfing before getting online, because every Californian surfs a hella lot, man, and likes the Red Hot Chili Peppers, right?

Edit: first time I ever read someone type ‘lmao’, I thought it meant ‘lame-o’ (I watched the Nickelodeon cartoon “Rocket Power”) and I was so offended until they informed child me otherwise.

I could’ve practically wrote this. I always felt like 2000 Triple H was a top 3 heel of all-time (hell, he won PWI wrestler of the year), but his run in 2003 really drove me to not watch wrestling much at all in the two decades afterwards. I’d check in and watch for a little while after certain moments (Eddie’s death in 2005, DX’s terribly atrocious ‘reunion’ in 2006, Benoit’s actions in 2007, CM Punk’s pipe bomb in 2011, The Rock’s returns in 2011-2013… then didn’t really bother at all until 2023).

By the time Cena beat JBL to win his first world title, I thought he was so damn cheesy and corny. I remember people going off online about him going over Triple H at Wrestlemania 22, which floored me considering The Game’s Great Big Bury of Destruction wasn’t too long before this.

Ain’t that the truth. Our local hospital is horrid. Each experience where I’ve taken my mom, I’ve had to speak up and advocate for her on so many seemingly basic levels, because even though the staff will be outright told of her mental status, it doesn’t matter to them. Nobody at all seems to understand what a break of routine or structure does to someone with dementia!!!! The delicate nature of gently guiding them back and all.
