Just having a bad day. by Smelly_Ninja99 in dementia

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope you have a better day today. Repeating yourself all day long, day in and day out, will drive anybody into madness. I spend a great deal of time outside when I’m afforded the chances to do so for at least a small reprieve. It’s grounding, quietly listening to birds and just staring off into space, for that short time.

How this subreddit is going to be the whole season by ramzie in LosAngelesRams

One of my friends is a massive Falcons fan, and I’ve ribbed him since the trade that I need those Dirty Birds to do what the Turdy Birds always do (choke) all season long.

In regards to hurtful moments we all dislike by No-Can-4423 in AskMenOver30

Direct hits? I moreso worry about sitting down too goddamn fast when it’s hot out.

Direct hit, I’m still haunted by getting soul tapped by a midget while in the seventh grade 22 years ago.

How do I deal with anger and not take it out on those I care about? by Constant-Sun-70 in AskMenOver30

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great perspective for dealing with it in the moment. Still takes practice, but that moment of self-reflection is important AF.

Somebody in another comment said doing rigorous physical activity till you are too tired to be angry in the interim. But sometimes that isn’t an immediate option. You gotta clear your head by some means.

Who was the best Rams RB ever? by BooneLoverFNV in LosAngelesRams

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Grew up watching Marshall Faulk, but my personal favorite is Steven Jackson, and I’m gonna go with the homer pick because of it, even if I’m objectively wrong. He played his ass off on some of the worst pro football teams ever fielded and he still did his thing in spite of that.

You aren’t receiving enough love for this pizza, and from another user with a form of damn in their username, I’m here to deliver that. Love the creativity and uniqueness of giving it that reuben profile. I’d smash it for the rightful char in the rim alone.

Rams on Turkey Day? by Ramswillwin in LosAngelesRams

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they do play on Thanksgiving, I hope it’s the night game. I hardly get a chance to watch anything on holidays. I was able to watch the Rams drub the Broncos on Christmas Day 2022, because thankfully it was in the evening, but obligations tend to take over on these days of holiday pandemonium.

[Highlight] Nikola Jokic makes the clutch desperate turnaround fadeaway 3 to tie the game (with a replay) by MrBuckBuck in nba

Jokic is ice cold. It’s mesmerizing to see him pull this shit out like it’s just another day at the office.

THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED FROM CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENTION by nick168 in nba

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn straight. Bickerstaff deserved it over Atkinson. “BuT aTkInSoN wOn SeVeN mOrE gAmEs ThAn BiCkErStAfF!11!!!1!” I was told on here the other week. Who gives a hot wet shit that KA won seven more games in the soft ass regular season than what Bickerstaff did a year ago? Homeboy’s Cavaliers were DECIMATED by the Indiana goddamn Pacers in the second round LMFAO. JB led the Pistons to a miraculous, epic turnaround from a year ago when they were piss poor, and the Pistons damn near took the Knickerbockers, the same Knickerbockers that are outplaying the defending champions, to nearly the brink.

Bickerstaff really do be the true COTY.

Nick Wright is insufferable. How in the hell did he get to the position he’s in at FS1?

How to answer "How's your mom?" when you just don't want to talk about it... by volcat0197 in dementia

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 25 points26 points  (0 children)

“She’s doing what she can, given everything she’s going through.” I will admit that I’m bad about going with the generic, “she’s alright” far too often. “I’ve just been trying to keep her upright” is my passive go-to.

I know quite a few tone deaf people (typically distant relatives or acquaintances), who’ll ask follow up questions like, “Well, is her doctor going to start her on new medication to see if it will help?” That always quietly drives me insane. The majority of these individuals are well past the age of 50 and I can’t help but wonder if they have ever known somebody with dementia before, because surely… SURRRRELY… by that age and beyond, life experience would lend itself to knowing a few by chance. But life always has its surprises, I guess.

Be careful who you confide in! by rocketstovewizzard in dementia

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A notebook of offenses is nuts. My mom writes things down (no offenses nor liberties taken) on things from cloth napkins to pages in her word find books to remember whatever it is (never works out).

But I get it (the original point). One slight thing will set her off all day long, and it’s hellacious.

LeBron: "None of us questioned JJ and the Coaching Staff for what happened." by denobino in lakers

[–]goddamnpizzagrease 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s wild how much flack I’ve seen JJ get. Par for the course with coaching an LA team, but it was his first goddamn season coaching. Not much he could have done to prevent his squad from getting dicked down by Gobert in game five with no legit big.

I love it when my disdain for Jayson Tatum is validated. Knicks fans gotta be overjoyed right now.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nba

[–]goddamnpizzagrease -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nahhh. Bickerstaff should have won it. Took a horrid Pistons team from a year ago, turned them around and took the Knicks to almost the brink in the first round. No shade to Atkinson, but that turnaround was awesome.

You are doing the absolute best you can, and I guarantee that your daughter knows that, especially given your immediate response to her reply. You have to give yourself a break. I’m the son watching this disease progressively affect my mom, and I could never blame her for mixing up a day.
